Yep, spot on. The reason why Mussolini and Hitler hated communists so much is because both commies and fascists feed out of the same statist, authoritarian pool of supporters.
The only real difference I can discern between commies and fascists, is that fascists go the way of an oppressive corporatist controlled economy which squashes small private innovation and identity, and the commies go the way of behemoth government control which squashes private anything.
