Ohio and Iowa became the latest Republican-led states to signal they would be pulling out of a bipartisan interstate voter program, throwing the organization into an even more uncertain future after a critical board meeting.

“I cannot justify the use of Ohio’s tax dollars for an organization that seems intent on rejecting meaningful accountability, publicly maligning my motives, and waging a relentless campaign of misinformation about this effort,” Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose wrote in his letter starting the withdrawal process on Friday.

They are the sixth and seventh Republican-led states to drop out of the Electronic Registration Information Center — ERIC — over the last year, joining Florida, West Virginia, Missouri, Louisiana and Alabama. Other states could soon be on the way as well.

Those dastardly right-wingers, the enemies of all that is good, are getting out of line again, and Chasten Buttigieg wants you to know that he is peeved. The loving husband of Trans Pete, that is, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, appeared with the gals on “The View” Thursday, and boy oh boy, was he in an almighty snit. We are, said the Trans Secretary’s better half, living in an “extremely dangerous time.” Why, Chas? Because of skyrocketing inflation? Chinese saber-rattling? Old Joe’s manifest capacity? No, you silly goose. Because Florida is banning porn in school libraries.

The Daily Caller reported Thursday that Chasten was miffed about “the bans on drag shows, pornographic books from school librariesand Florida’s Parental Rights in Education bill that prohibits classroom discussion about sexuality and gender identity in kindergarten through third grade classrooms.”

But, of course, Chasten didn’t put it quite that way. As far as he was concerned, it was all an attack by rich right-wingers against the poor, embattled “LGBTQ community,” as if that community wasn’t hailed, celebrated, and praised everywhere in our rancid and ridiculous culture today. They’re really the victims, Chasten insists, and of course, “The View” panelists agreed.

Chasten said huffily: “I think it’s an extremely dangerous time and it’s a really upsetting time because nothing could be more important than showing up and protecting our families.” Oh come on, now, Chasten! That’s exactly what the people who were behind this bill wanted to do in the first place, but Pete’s husband thinks that parents and adherents of traditional morality are protecting their families from the wrong people.

The other Mr. Buttigieg continued: “But the way in which they say they’re showing up for our families, this conversation about giving parents more choice, protecting children, what they’ve really done, and they’ve done a good job,it’s been a very well-coordinated, well-funded effort to attack the LGBTQ community.”

This was carefully worded to sound several Leftist alarm bells. Even though Leftist groups generally have massive budgets that dwarf those of their patriotic opponents (take, for example, the hundreds of millions of dollars that the Southern Poverty Law Center has in its war chest, while none of its patriotic targets have anything close to that), they like to posture as the plucky underdogs fighting courageously against sinister, well-heeled conservatives. Those conservatives apparently gratuitously decided to “attack the LGBTQ community.” Not a word, of course, about grooming or destroying children’s innocence. Oh no, this “attack” was, in Chasten’s world, entirely unprovoked.

Inverting reality even further,Chasten added: “Specifically with the book bans, when you look at what many of these have in common, they’re extremely vulnerable childrenand so you have groups of politicians who are making calculated choices.” Yes, they are indeed vulnerable children. But who exactly is preying upon these vulnerable children? The people who are pushing pornography and gender madness upon them, or the people who are trying to protect them from all that?

Chasten Buttigieg knows, however, that victimhood is currency in our absurd society, so he worked hard to establish the purveyors of filth as simply trying to save the poor victims. “It’s hard enough being in school as it is,” he said, “but to be a transgender kid in school and you have this coordinated effort by people who are going after them because they don’t know what else to talk about. They need an enemy and right now, they’ve decided to make children their enemy and it’s very, very nerve-racking.”

No, Chasten, the children aren’t the enemy. The people who are filling their heads with delusions and fantasies, and telling them that their childhood awkwardness can be repaired by mutilating their bodies, becoming dependent on pharmaceuticals, and living a lie for the rest of their lives – they’re the enemy. And this Florida bill rightly throws a wrench into their plans.

CNN news anchor Erin Burnett admitted that evidence revealing that the Biden family received over a million dollars from accounts linked to Hunter Biden’s Chinese business dealings does not “look good” for the president’s family.

On her CNN program “Erin Burnett OutFront,” Burnett was discussing financial records revealing members of the Biden family payment from a CCP-linked company.

When Burnett asked her guest Ryan Goodman,co-editor-in-chief of “Just Security,” about the revelations, she admitted to him they don’t “look good.”

Goodman responded saying that while nothing “damaging legally” is likely to be foundin the records, they may be “possibly unethical.”

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky) revealed on Thursday that on March 1, 2017 — just weeks after Joe Biden left office as Barack Obama’s VP— State Energy HK Limited, a firm affiliated with Chinese Communist Party-backed energy company CEFC China Energy, wired $3 million to Biden family associate Rob Walker.

Walker then proceeded to dish out the money to a number of Biden associates and members of the Biden family, including Hunter Biden, the president’s brother James Biden and his late son Beau Biden’s widow Hallie Biden.

CNN didn’t accept The Post’s scoop of Hunter Biden’s laptop was real before doing a 180 in Aug. 2022.

The Post exclusively revealed Thursday that Biden’s daughter-in-law Hallie received $35,000 in early from a Chinese energy company, according to bank records released by Comer.

“On a certain level, just as a layperson, you hear this and it doesn’t sound good,” Burnett said on the show.

“There’s a guy whose name is John Robinson Walker. He gets three million dollars from a Chinese space company and proceeds to wire it out to a bunch of people named Biden, one of whom is Hunter Biden, another one is a company that belongs to the president’s brother James Biden, and another amount of money to Beau Biden’s widow, Hallie,” she continued.

“So again, from a layperson, that doesn’t look good,” she continued before asking Goodman if he found the records to be “damaging legally.”

“Not necessarily damaging legally like when I look at all of the facts alleged in the four-page memo, it looks potentially unethical,” he responded. “But it’s difficult to match it up with any illegality or crime.”

Where the money went

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer revealed on Thursday that on March 1, 2017 — less than two months after Joe Biden left office as Barack Obama’s vice president — State Energy HK Limited, a firm affiliated with Chinese Communist Party-backed energy company CEFC China Energy, wired $3 million to Biden family associate Rob Walker.

The windfall was subsequently divvied up over a period of about three months to at least three members of the Biden clan, and two Biden family associates.

Here’s how the $3 million from China was distributed, according to Comer (R-Ky.):

Trump has repeatedly denied that he had an affair with Daniels, and said the investigation is a “witch hunt” that amounts to “extortion.”

The state of Minnesota is aiming to become the third state to adopt ranked-choice voting, a completely corrupt system of voting that almost always favors the left.

Ranked-choice voting is how Alaska keeps electing left-wing Republican Lisa Murkowski, despite widespread dislike of her by conservatives in a solid red state.

Minnesota is doing this for purely political reasons. They are trying to make sure that Republicans are never elected there.

Minnesota Could Be Third State To Adopt Ranked-Choice Voting, Following Alaska And Maine

Minnesota is seeking to become the third state in the nation to utilize ranked-choice voting (RCV) for state and federal elections, following in the steps of Alaska and Maine.

While five cities in the Gopher state already use RCV for municipal elections — Minneapolis, Saint Paul, Bloomington, Saint Louis Park, and Minnetonka — Minnesota Senator Kelly Morrison has introduced a bill that would require RCV for all state and federal elections. While the bill is currently in committee, it has a companion in the Minnesota House that’s waiting for a hearing.

RCV requires voters to rank candidates in order of preference. If no candidate receives 50 percent of the vote, the candidate with the least votes is eliminated, and his votes are redistributed to whichever candidate his voters ranked as their second choice. This process continues until one candidate clears 50 percent.

Ugandan president lashes out at West for promoting LGBTQ rights in Africa

Despite the threat of sanctions, the parliament is set to vote on an anti-LGBTQ bill

Western countries should stop “wasting the time of humanity” by trying to impose their beliefs and practices, including homosexuality, on other people, Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has said.

The president of the East African country made the comments in a parliamentary address on March 16, as lawmakers prepared to vote on an anti-LGBTQ bill.

Although homosexuality is already illegal in Uganda, a bill introduced in early March and set to be debated this week, with a vote as early as Tuesday, proposes harsher penalties for promoting LGBTQ rights and activities.

Museveni said that Western threats of sanctions against African countries that oppose homosexuality are hypocritical. “Europeans and other groups marry cousins and near relatives. Here, marrying in one’s clan is taboo. Should we impose sanctions on them for marrying relatives? This is not our job,” he stated.

The US cut off aid to Uganda in 2014 and canceled a military exercise in response to a law that imposes prison terms up to life for “aggravated homosexuality,” which includes homosexual sex with a minor or while HIV-positive. Projects affected by the cuts include funding for a $2.4 million Ugandan community policing program, which was stopped following a police raid on a US-funded health program at Makerere University, Reuters reported.

Uganda is not the only African country known for its anti-LGBTQ policies. A bill called ‘The Promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values’ was introduced in Ghana’s parliament in August 2021.

The proposed legislation aims to restrict LGBTQ communities and ‘activities’ while also promoting ‘legitimate’ sexual rights and Ghanaian family values. It increases punishment for cross-dressing, public displays of affection, and other behaviors and also makes advocating for LGBTQ rights on social media or other online platforms illegal.

In Nigeria, Sudan, and Mauritania, the death penalty can be imposed for sexual relations between people of the same sex.

Update (1300ET): The Financial Times reports that UBS has agreed to buy Credit Suisse after increasing its offer to more than $2bn, with Swiss authorities poised to change the country’s laws to bypass a shareholder vote on the transaction as they rush to finalize a deal before Monday.

The purchase price is a fraction of the $8 billion market cap the company was valued at on Friday's close; it means that UBS will now pay slightly more than CHF0.50 a share in its own stock, up from a bid of SFr0.25 earlier today, but far below Credit Suisse’s closing price of CHF1.86 on Friday.

We also learn that UBS agreed to a softening of a material adverse change clause that would void the deal if its credit default spreads jump; it wasn't immediately clear if that entire clause was scrapped or if the CDS trigger was merely pulled wider.

UBS shareholders - who will not be consulted on the deal which will circumvent normal corporate governance rules by preventing a UBS shareholder vote - are angry. As FT notes, Vincent Kaufmann, chief executive of Ethos Foundation, which represents Swiss pension funds that own between 3% and 5% of Credit Suisse and UBS, told the Financial Times that the move to bypass a shareholder vote on the deal was poor corporate governance.

“I can’t believe our members and UBS shareholders will be happy about this,” he said. “I have never seen such measures taken; it shows how bad the situation is.”

A European Parliament vote for bloc-wide digital IDs is the latest step towards the “Chinafication of Europe”, an MEP has claimed.

Cristian Terhes, a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for the Christian Democratic National Peasants’ Party, has described the European Union’s latest push for cross-border digital IDs as another move towards the “Chinafication” of the bloc.

Although bureaucrats in Brussels have insisted that the measure is in the interests of average citizens, the parliament’s vote to see digital IDs adopted appears to be one of the latest attempts by EU institutions to pull power away from member-states’ national governments.

According to a report by Euractiv, the vote to see negotiations for a European Digital Identity Framework (eID) to go forward was approved by the bloc’s parliament on Thursday — though the publication describes the process as a mere formality.

Romana Jerkovic, the parliament’s rapporteur for the digital ID programme, heralded its approval of the plans, claiming that they will enable individual EU citizens to have “full control over their own data” while accessing facilities across the bloc.

Such a claim has been heavily disputed by Terhes, however, who instead sees the measure as a dangerous erosion of the rights of those living within the European Union.

“The loss of our freedoms and liberties to the Big State is normally done incrementally, but the passing of the eID Wallet is a big step towards the Chinafication of Europe,” the parliamentarian told Breitbart Europe, repeatedly warning that the measure could give authorities China-like oversight over people’s private lives.

“This Digital Wallet will allow the EU and national authorities (like the Chinese Communist Party) to have technical tools so they can know what the people are doing and to impose control,” Terhes said.

“Something similar to a Chinese style Social Credit System is now made available in the EU, because this eID Wallet is a necessary technology to its implementation,” he alleged.

At least 81 people were arrested in Paris as violent protests and riots broke out once again on Saturday evening; the third protest of its kind since Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne — the second-highest official in France besides Macron himself — saw the minority globalist government use article 49.3 of the constitution to approve legislation to raise the pension age from 62 to 64 without a vote after it became clear that it might not receive majority support in the National Assembly.

After two nights of violence, on Saturday afternoon the Paris police announced a ban on protesters gathering around the Champs-Élysées and the Place de la Concorde, where protesters burned an effigy of President Macron.

Some chanted that they could “decapitate” the leader just like the French Revolution did to King Louis XVI.

Police also tried to limit the number of protesters by shutting down several subway stations near the Champs-Élysées for “security measures”, Le Figaro reported.

Protestors instead met at the Place d’Italie, on the opposite side of the river Seine. On social media users shared a poster featuring a picture of Macron standing in front of fires with the Eiffel Tower in the background, calling on people to protest “until the government falls”.

Once again, footage on social media showed rioters clashing with police, and setting fires to the tonnes of garbage that have festooned the streets of the capital in the wake of a trash collector strike. Violent and chaotic scenes were also recorded across the country, with protests breaking out in Brest, Bordeaux, and Nantes, among others.

It also appeared that police were ‘unleashed’ on Saturday, with footage showing officers violently engaging and tackling seemingly peaceful protesters.

Russia’s armed forces struck 92 Ukrainian artillery units at firing positions in 114 areas over the past day during the special military operation in Ukraine, Defense Ministry Spokesman Lieutenant-General Igor Konashenkov reported on Sunday.

"Russian operational/tactical and army aviation aircraft, missile troops and artillery struck 92 artillery units at firing positions, manpower and military hardware in 114 areas over the past day," he said.

Battles in Kupyansk direction

The western group of the Russian forces struck Ukrainian manpower and equipment in the Kupyansk area, eliminating up to 50 troops over the past day, Konashenkov said.

"In the Kupyansk direction, aircraft and artillery of the western battlegroup struck the Ukrainian army units in areas near the settlements of Dvurechnaya, Timkovka, Olshana in the Kharkov Region and Novoselovskoye in the Lugansk People’s Republic," the spokesman said.

The strikes eliminated the enemy manpower and military hardware, the general noted. "Up to 50 Ukrainian personnel, two armored vehicles and two cars were destroyed," Konashenkov reported.

Russian combat aircraft shot down a Ukrainian Air Force Mi-8 fighter jet near the city of Kupyansk in the Kharkov Region, he added.

Battles in Krasny Liman direction

Russian forces eliminated over 90 Ukrainian troops in the Krasny Liman area over the past day, Konashenkov said.

"In the Krasny Liman direction, artillery and heavy flamethrower systems of the battlegroup Center struck the enemy units," eliminating "over 90 Ukrainian personnel, three infantry fighting vehicles, three vehicles, one Gvozdika self-propelled howitzer, as well as D-20 and D-30 howitzers," the general specified.

Battles in Donetsk direction

The units of the southern group Russian forces eliminated more than 80 Ukrainian troops in the Donetsk area over the past day, Konashenkov reported.

"In the Donetsk direction, more than 80 Ukrainian personnel, three armored combat vehicles, four pickup trucks, three Grad multiple rocket launchers and one Msta-B howitzer were destroyed in the past 24 hours as a result of active operations by units of the southern battlegroup, air strikes and artillery fire," the spokesman said.

Battles in southern Donetsk, Zaporozhye directions

Russian forces destroyed over 50 Ukrainian troops in the southern Donetsk and Zaporozhye areas over the past day, Konashenkov reported.

The NYPD and US Secret Service are huddling to prep for Donald Trump’s possible indictment in Manhattan after the former president said he expected to be arrested Tuesday and called on his supporters to protest, law enforcement sources told The Post.

The FBI, state court officers and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office have also been kept in the loop on security discussions, with the Big Apple bracing for the worst after Trump, 76, urged his followers to “take our nation back” in light of his looming indictment, the sources said.

“We will use all of our available resources,” one NYPD source said Sunday, noting that the department’s Strategic Response Group — which responds to civil unrest and major events — “has a role in this agency and when needed they will be called in.”

Officials from several agencies met on Sunday and are expected to confer again on Monday, according to sources.

Trump took to his “Truth Social” site over the weekend and said he expects to be indicted in Bragg’s ongoing probe into alleged hush money paid to porn star Stormy Daniels in the lead up to the 2016 election. Daniels claims she had an affair with Trump in 2006, which he has denied.

The former president’s online call to supporters has federal, state and local authorities on alert, according to sources.

The NYPD and US Secret Service are meeting to discuss security measures in the event former President Donald Trump is indicted by the Manhattan DA’s office this week.

The sources said several agencies will meet again on Monday to discuss security measures that include restricting vehicle access to the Manhattan courthouse, and deploying inside and outside the building.

Bragg’s office has not confirmed nor denied that an indictment is imminent.

But the NYPD said it will be ready in the event Trump is charged and unrest breaks out.

“We’ll handle it like we do anything else,” NYPD Deputy Commissioner of Public Information Kevin Maloney told The Post. “It’s lower Manhattan, there’s always plenty of police presence down there, anyway. So we’ll monitor the situation. We’ll have ample resources. We’ll see what Tuesday brings.”

Former President Donald Trump told supporters on his “Truth Social” site this weekend that he expected to be indicted on Tuesday and that they should protest if he is.

Maloney said he “would assume there will be conversations with our intel bureau and stakeholders in the federal courthouse and the DA’s office.

“We’ll have an advanced heads-up, I’m sure, on the timing of this whole thing,” he added. “We’ll make sure that the entrance and exits to the courthouse are secure and if the protesters are there we’ll support their rights to peacefully protest. If they’re not there, even better.”

Bragg’s office referred a request for comment Sunday to the NYPD and other law enforcement agencies. The FBI didn’t return a request for comment.

A Secret Service spokesman said: “To maintain the highest levels of integrity for our operations, we are not able to comment on specific protection plans or movements for any Secret Service protectee.”

Trump, in announcing his alleged pending arrest Saturday morning, chided “ILLEGAL LEAKS FROM A CORRUPT & HIGHLY POLITICAL MANHATTAN DISTRICT ATTORNEY’S OFFICE” in his post on Truth Social.

”THE FAR & AWAY LEADING REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE & FORMER PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, WILL BE ARRESTED ON TUESDAY OF NEXT WEEK. PROTEST, TAKE OUR NATION BACK!” he wrote.

“THEY’RE KILLING OUR NATION AS WE SIT BACK & WATCH. WE MUST SAVE AMERICA!PROTEST, PROTEST, PROTEST!!!.” he added.

Daniels allegedly received more than $130,000 in hush money through Michael Cohen, Trump’s former attorney and fixer.

In 2018 Cohen pleaded guilty to violating federal campaign finance laws in connection to the payments and was sentenced to three years in prison.

Bragg, meanwhile, in an email to his staff on Saturday, said his office will not be intimidated by Trump’s call for protests.

“Our law enforcement partners will ensure that any specific or credible threats against the office will be fully investigated and that the proper safeguards are in place so all 1,600 of us have a secure work environment,” Bragg told his office, according to a leaked email, obtained by journalist Breanna Morello.

“In the meantime, as with all of our investigations, we will continue to apply the law evenly and fairly and speak openly only when appropriate,” Bragg wrote. “We do not tolerate attempts to intimidate our office or threaten the rule of law in New York.”

Gas-generating devices of chlorine dioxide (ClO2) are used as deodorant of rooms. We happened to use a commercial tabletop deodorant canister that releases extremely low-concentration ClO2 gas in a school classroom as deodorant.We found retrospectively and unexpectedly that during a period of 38 consecutive school days the rate of schoolchildren absent from the school was markedly lower (1.5%) in a classroom where the ClO2 device was placed than that (4.0%) in a classroom where it was not placed.The percentages of absenteeism between these classrooms (1.5% vs. 4.0%) weresignificantly (p < 0.00001) different. The predominant causes of absenteeism during the period were common cold and influenza. President Trump has called on supporters to protest his expected arrest next week by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg on bogus charges arising out of the alleged 2016 Stormy Daniels hush money arrangement. Several so-called influencers are warning supporters to stay home to avoid being entrapped by the feds into another January 6 riot.

As one of the most experienced conservative street activists who was active in our Nation’s Capital for over a decade, I want to offer my advice on whether to go out and protest (yes) and how to do it.

First, some background. I was active in the D.C. Chapter of FreeRepublic.com from 1998 into the early 2010s, but mostly through the end of 2007 when I left the area and returned a few times a year. I organized hundreds of street protests and counter-protests against President Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Al Gore and other corrupt Democrat politicians. I organized an annual protest of liberal media bias outside the White House Correspondents Dinner for about fifteen years. Through Free Republic, Move America Forward and the Gathering of Eagles, we organized several rallies and counter-rallies supporting our troops in the war on terror in the years after 9/11. On a few occasions, we acted as human shields against the violent left and radical Islamists, protecting The White House, the Danish Embassy, Armed Forces Recruiting stations and even the Washington Post. I also helped organize the FReeper inaugural ball in 2005 attended by nearly 1,000 guests or so.

We dealt with D.C. Police, Capitol Police, Park Police, Secret Service, various other federal law enforcement agencies and the military in demonstrations at the White House, Capitol, Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, the National Mall, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Arlington Cemetery, the old Walter Reed Army Hospital, the Vice President’s Residence, aka “Cheney’s House”, and many locales in and around D.C.

We faced off against communists, anarchists, Black Bloc (pre-Antifa), Code Pink, ANSWER, radical Islamists, Democrats, RINOs, dishonest media and the Westboro Baptist Church extremists.

We did all that by being peaceful and behaving in a civilized manner at all times. We hade a code of conduct that served us well.

Briefly, it read, “No violence, no racism, no profanity, no provocations, obey the law and treat all law enforcement officers with respect.”

We also had other rules:

No physical contact with opponents and try to stay out of arm’s length from them. No retaliations if they attack you–step back, walk away, find a cop. Only defend yourself if you are in danger. We wanted our demonstrations to stay peaceful and we remembered the old basketball rule the referee only sees the second punch thrown, not the first.

Just about all weapons of self-defense were banned in D.C., so we didn’t have to worry about people coming armed to our protests. My preference is for no open carry and discreet concealed carry if you must.

And no masks. We never hid ourselves behind a mask. The KKK and Antifa wear masks. Not conservatives–unless we were in costume mocking Hillary, Saddam or crybaby reporters for example.

The flags we allowed were the American flag, state flags, military service branch flags, the Gadsden and Culpeper flags, and flags of our allies in the war on terror (these days we would add in the non-profane Trump flags.) Our people knew better than to show up with a Confederate battle flag so we never had to tell them to leave if someone had shown up with one. We did not burn flags or damage property.

Our signs were clever, funny, pointed and quite serious, depending on the occasion. We did not use profanity (with the exception of a rare vulgarity). We policed our signs and disallowed those that were off-message or violated our rules. We were told many times we had the best protest signs in D.C.

We policed our membership. No one who was a racist, violent or encouraged violence and criminality or broke our rules was allowed in our group or at our protests. We warned hotheads to stay away from protests that were likely to be contentious just as we warned not to bring children to some of the more edgy protests.

Our experience in D.C. was similar to that of the pro-life demonstrators who marched every year for decades, the Tea Party activists who came after us and the Trump rallies from 2015 through 2020. No arrests, no unprovoked violence on our part (extremely rare at that) and we left the place cleaner than how we found it.

A January 6th defendant is in trouble for “hobnobbing with conservative lawmakers”.

The Government says Retired Army Captain Gabriel Garcia violated his pre-release conditions when he attended CPAC earlier this month.

Garcia has been subpoenaed to report to a courthouse in Washington D.C on Monday for a status hearing. This comes after the pre-trial service office reported Garcia to his judge for violating conditions of his release after he attended CPAC. CPAC is an annual political conference attended by conservative activists and elected officials from across the United States and beyond.

Garcia’s family is extremely fearful that Judge Amy Berman Jackson will throw him into the DC Gulag after the hearing, as she has openly shown her distaste for the Army Captain and Bronze Star Iraq War Veteran. Garcia was awaiting trial from his home in Miami but according to a new government motion he violated his pre-trial conditions when he traveled to CPAC earlier this month to speak with his attorney and his Florida Congressional Representative Matt Gaetz.

New York’s Democrat Governor Kathy Hochul is demanding that the courts grant her authorization to detain citizens in “quarantine camps” against their will.

Hochul has gone back to court seeking permission to detain New Yorkers in quarantine camps.

The move would see citizens placed in the camps without notice, detained without rights, and held for as long as state health officials decide.

The plan also has no age limits, meaning children could be taken from their families.

The fight arose during the pandemic when New York officials decided they would adopt a new rule giving the state exactly that power.

The detention camps are part of Gov. Hochul’s “Isolation and Quarantine Procedures” scheme.

A lawsuit, filed in April 2022, ensued, and the result was that the detention plan was ruled unconstitutional.

Judge Ronald Ploetz responded to the lawsuit weeks later and ruled that the strategy didn’t meet the requirements of the U.S. Constitution.

According to a report from lawyer Bobbie Anne Flower Cox at the Brownstone Institute, Hochul, through Attorney General Letitia James, is now appealing the court’s rejection of her plan.

“The case, Borrello v. Hochul, which we won last July, was brought against the governor and her Department of Health, on behalf of a group of NYS Legislators, Senator George Borrello, Assemblyman Chris Tague, Assemblyman (now Congressman) Mike Lawler, together with our citizens’ group, Uniting NYS,” Cox said in a statement.

“The main premise of the case was a breach of Separation of Powers – meaning the governor and her Department of Health did not have the authority to make their dystopian ‘Isolation and Quarantine Procedures’ regulation.”

The rule “allowed the Department of Health to pick and choose which New Yorkers they could lock up or lockdown, with no proof that you were ever even exposed to, let alone actually sick with, a communicable disease,” Cox explained.

“They could have locked you down in your home, or they could have removed you from your home and forced you to quarantine in a facility of their choosing.”

The rule would allow state authorities to detain people in the camps with no time limits, no appeal, no age limits, and no rights at all, the report explained.

“You could have received a knock at the door from your local police or sheriff telling you that you had to go with them… by order of the Health Department,” she said.

“Furthermore, the regulation had no procedure by which you could be released from quarantine, no way for you to try to negotiate your way out.”

“Interestingly, they did not file their appeal to try to overturn this horrific regulation before that crucial election,” the lawyer said.

The plaintiffs in the case released a statement expressing their disappointment in the state’s pursuit of such an extreme plan.

“The constitutional separation of powers and the right of due process are principles that cannot be compromised,” the statement said.

“This case has been on solid ground from the start and Judge Plotez’s ruling only confirmed that. The notion that a state agency could unilaterally adopt a policy that mandates authoritarian-style isolation and quarantine procedures would have been unimaginable a few short years ago.

“The unconstitutional power grab must be stopped in its tracks.”

Dr. Naomi Wolf, a former political advisor to the presidential campaigns of Bill Clinton and Al Gore, is campaigning against Hochul’s plans.

Wolf blasted the efforts during an appearance on “Real America’s Voice.”

“You’d think that’s an imaginary headline, but it’s 100% accurate,” Wolf said.

Imran Khan’s supporters violently clashed with police officers outside a courthouse

Police in Islamabad have filed terrorism charges against former Prime Minister Imran Khan, after crowds of his supporters rioted outside a courthouse in the Pakistani capital. Khan was due to appear at the court on Saturday to answer corruption charges.

Khan, along with more than a dozen officials in his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party and scores of his supporters, were charged with a litany of offenses, including rioting, obstruction, assault on police officers, arson, intimidation, and acts of terrorism, Pakistan’s The Nation newspaper reported on Sunday.

The charges stemmed from a riot outside the Islamabad Judicial Complex on Saturday, in which protesters hurled rocks and fire bombs at police as they waited for Khan to arrive at the building. A dozen police vehicles were burned, and officers responded with tear gas.

More than 50 officers were injured, and 59 of Khan’s supporters were arrested, the Associated Press reported.

Police raided Khan’s residence in Lahore earlier on Saturday, shortly after he left for the court date in Islamabad. A crowd of the former PM’s supporters attempted to block police from carrying out the raid, leading to clashes and 30 arrests. The raid was not the first on Khan’s home, and the former leader previously accused authorities of attempting to arrest and execute him.

Khan never entered the courtroom on Saturday. In a video message to supporters, he claimed that police fired tear gas at his vehicle, preventing him from stepping outside. The judge postponed his hearing until March 31.

A former cricketer, Khan became prime minister of Pakistan in 2018 but was ousted in 2022. He is accused by the state of unlawfully selling official gifts given to him by foreign dignitaries during his tenure. Khan claims that the corruption charges are politically motivated and aimed at preventing him from returning to power.

Khan built economic and diplomatic relations with Russia and China during his time in office, and he has since claimed that his removal was orchestrated by the US with the goal of installing a more compliant leader.

The PTI has been leading protests across Pakistan and calling for snap elections since Khan’s ouster. During a November rally in Wazirabad, an attacker opened fire on Khan, injuring him and eight others.

Despite his ongoing legal drama, Khan is the most popular political leader in Pakistan, with an approval rating of 61%, according to a Gallup poll taken earlier this month. Current Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif sits at 32%.

Ron DeSantis and Nikki Haley have been attacked by a number of Trump loyalists for failing to comment on rumors the former president will be arrested on Tuesday. MAGA Republicans have criticized DeSantis and Haley for not speaking out against the Manhattan DA's office for what they claim is a weaponization of the justice system. DeSantis is widely rumored to be preparing to run against Trump for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination. Haley was the first to enter the race after Trump. Jason Miller, a Trump adviser and the former CEO of right-wing free speech app Gettr noted a 'radio silence' from the two since the rumors gained momentum early on Saturday.

Swiss banks announce historic takeover

Banking giant UBS has reached a deal to acquire its ailing rival Credit Suisse

UBS Group and Credit Suisse Group, two of the biggest names in European banking, are coming together in a government-brokered deal aimed at shoring up public confidence in the Western financial system and averting a global crisis.

UBS agreed on Sunday to pay 3 billion Swiss francs ($3.24 billion) in stock to acquire its embattled rival in a takeover underpinned by government guarantees and 100 billion francs in liquidity assistance from Switzerland’s central bank. The agreed price of 1 UBS share for each22.48 shares of Credit Suisse values the latter bank at less than half its market closing priceon Friday. The transaction requires UBS to absorb up to $5.4 billion in losses at Credit Suisse.

“I welcome the swift action and the decisions taken by the Swiss authorities,” European Central Bank President Christine Legarde saidof the merger. “They are instrumental for restoring orderly market conditions and ensuring financial stability.” Although the region’s banking sector is “resilient,” she added, “our policy toolkit is fully equipped to provide liquidity support to the euro area financial system if needed and to preserve the smooth transmission of monetary policy.”

The merger of Switzerland’s two biggest Swiss banks is scheduled to be completed by the end of this year. Western governments and central banks have sought to prevent a cascade of bank failures after the collapses earlier this month of Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank in the US.

Credit Suisse last month reported a 2022 net loss of 7.3 billion francs and warned that it would incur another “substantial” loss in 2023 before returning to profitability in 2024. With clients withdrawing their money in droves, Credit Suisse turned to the Swiss central bank for a loan of 50 billion francs last week.

The newly combined bankwill boast more than $5 trillion of invested assets(Not for long). UBS Chairman Colm Kelleher told reporters at a press briefing in Bern, Switzerland, that there are “no options” other than closing the acquisition and making it a success. “This is absolutely essential to the financial structure of Switzerland and… to global finance.”

Warsaw will have “no choice” but to take part in the hostilities should Kiev fail to defend its “independence,” the country’s envoy to France has said

Poland may end up “joining” the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine should the latter fail to protect its “independence,” the Polish ambassador to France, Jan Emeryk Rosciszewski, has said. The senior diplomat made the remarks on Saturday while speaking live to the broadcaster LCI.

Rosciszewski squarely blamed the hostilities, which have been ongoing for over a year already, on Moscow, stating that it was “not NATO, not Poland, not France and not Slovakia” that was ramping up international tensions, but Russia. According to the diplomat, the situation now is “either Ukraine will successfully defend its independence, or we will be forced, in any case, to join this conflict.”

“Otherwise, our principal values, which are the basis of our civilization and our culture, will be in fundamental danger, so we will have no choice,” Rosciszewski stated.

The hawkish statement promptly made headlines in international media, prompting the Polish mission in France to elaborate further on the remarks made by its head. According to a message released by the embassy on Sunday, Rosciszewski’s comments were not actually an admission that Warsaw was ready to go to war with Russia, but merely a “warning” and a pledge to continue supporting Kiev.

“Listening carefully to the entire conversation allows us to understand that there was no announcement of Poland’s direct involvement in the conflict, but only a warning against the consequences of Ukraine's defeat – the possibility of Russia attacking or dragging into the war more Central European countries – the Baltic states and Poland,” the statement reads. The embassy also condemned the purportedly “sensational” reporting on the bombshell interview, suggesting that some unidentified media outlets may have acted in “ill will.”

The remarks received a poor reception in Moscow, with a top Russian senator, Alexey Pushkov, warning Warsaw of the potential consequences and questioning its presumed resolve to fight Russia on its own.

“A very presumptuous statement by the Polish ambassador in Paris. For the first time, an official representative of Poland said what its leaders have long had on their minds. However, all the ‘courage’ of the Poles is based on the support of the United States. Is Warsaw sure that Washington is ready to fight?” Pushkov said in a Telegram post.

Poland has been among the most active supporters of Kiev in the hostilities against Russia, sending in assorted military hardware, including tanks and artillery pieces, to prop up Ukraine. Apart from that, Polish mercenaries have been directly involved in the conflict in significant numbers, according to Moscow. Warsaw has also announced a major military buildup of its own, seeking to greatly expand the ranks of its armed forces and procure large amounts of modern military hardware from overseas.

Twitter’s owner has shot down the US president’s assertion that billionaires pay only 3% of their earnings to the government

America’s richest man on Saturday took issue with President Joe Biden’s effort to sell voters on tax increases by claiming that billionaires get away with paying only 3% of their earnings, on average, to the federal government.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk pushed back after Biden posted a Twitter message arguing that the mega-rich aren’t paying their fair share of taxes. “You know the average tax billionaires pay?” Biden asked, before answering the question himself with his 3% claim. “No billionaire should be paying a lower tax than somebody working as a schoolteacher or a firefighter.”

Musk replied, “I paid 53% taxes on my Tesla stock options (40% federal and 13% state), so I must be lifting the average!I also paid more income tax than anyone ever in the history of Earth for 2021 and will do that again in 2022.”He then invited Twitter users in the platform’s Community Notes program to weigh in on whether the 3% figure was accurate.

Biden’s 2024 budget proposal calls for raising tax rates on individuals with earnings of more than $400,000 a year and married couples making over $450,000. He also has demanded a 25% minimum tax on Americans with fortunes exceeding $100 million.

“Look, I think you should be able to be a billionaire if you can earn it, but just pay your fair share,” Biden said. “I think you ought to pay a minimum tax of 25%. It’s about basic fairness.”

Musk countered, “I certainly agree that everyone should pay taxes and not engage in elaborate tax-avoidance schemes.” Such schemes aren’t necessary for low-income Americans because more than 40% of US households pay no federal income tax.

Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen ran to MSNBC on Saturday and trashed Trump in an interview with professional race hustler Al Sharpton.

In January the Manhattan District Attorney’s office revived its criminal investigation into Trump’s ‘hush payments’ to porn star Stephanie Clifford, AKA, Stormy Daniels and elevated the case from a misdemeanor to a felony.

Trump has been accused of paying Daniels ‘hush payments’ through his then-attorney Michael Cohen in a scheme to silence her and stop the story about their alleged affair from being published in the National Enquirer.

Trump has denied the affair.

Michael Cohen appeared on MSNBC on Saturday to discuss the case as Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg prepares to bring charges.

Cohen trashed Trump.

Cohen suggested he is out for revenge for serving prison time on federal charges.

Recall, Michael Cohen was previously sentenced to 36 months in prison for lying to Congress, campaign finance violations and tax evasion charges related to his taxi medallion business.

Cohen said it’s Trump turn to serve prison time.

“So if it was good enough for me to go [to prison], it should be good enough for him,” Cohen said about Trump.
