Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin I II spoke with Israeli Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant

today.

Secretary Austin reiterated the United States' commitment to take every possible step to

defend Israel and noted the strengthening of U.S. military force posture and capabilities

throughout the Middle East in light of escalating regional tensions. Reinforcing this

commitment, the Secretary Austin has ordered the USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN Carrier Strike

Group, equipped with F-35C fighters, to accelerate its transit to the Central Command area

of responsibility, adding to the capabilities already provided by the USS THEODORE

ROOSEVELT Carrier Strike Group.

'Additionally, the Secretary has ordered the USS Georgia (SSGN 729) guided missile

submarine to the Central Command region.'

Secretary Austin and Minister Gallant also discussed Israel's operations in Gaza and the

Damascus Calls On Occupying US Forces To stop Bombing Syrians, Leave The Country

Syria on Saturday called on the United States to stop bombing Syrians, stop supporting Kurdish "separatist militias," and immediately withdraw from Syrian territory.

A statement issued by the Syrian Foreign Ministry said: "US warplanes, with the support of the SDF (Syrian Democratic Forces) militia, launched several raids in Deir Ezzor, Hasakah, and Qamishli, targeting innocent civilians defending their families, villages, and properties."

The statement added: "The SDF, which is an agent of the American occupation, launched criminal attacks on our people in Deir Ezzor, Hasakah, and Qamishli, in addition to other villages in the eastern and northeastern regions. These barbaric attacks led to the martyrdom of a number of Syrian citizens, including women and children."

The US military began partnering with the Kurdish (YPG) People's Protection Units in 2014. An offshoot of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), the YPG later changed its name to the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

Together, the US and SDF occupy Syria’s northwest, including Hasakah, Raqqa, and parts of Deir Ezzor, denying Syria access to its oil resources and wheat-producing agricultural land. Syria also suffers under brutal US economic sanctions, which have further impoverished the war-torn country.

The Syrian Foreign Ministry statement continued: "The Syrian Arab Republic reaffirms that the US occupation of part of Syrian territory represents a flagrant violation of Syria's sovereignty and the unity and integrity of its territories, and that the United States' support for its agent separatist militias represents a cheap tool to implement its hostile plans against Syria."

Syria stressed that "all these inhumane and immoral practices against its people in the eastern and northeastern regions, including preventing the arrival of food and drinking water, aim to double the suffering of the Syrians and prolong the war against them."

The statement continued, "Syria affirms that the will of its people to liberate their land and preserve their sovereignty will be achieved no matter how great the sacrifices are, and the terrorism and crimes of those militias will not weaken its resolve."

WHO Schedules Emergency Meeting Over Mpox Outbreak

The meeting will be held to see if the virus is ‘a public health emergency of international concern,’ the WHO said.

The World Health Organization (WHO) confirmed it will hold an emergency meeting on mpox and whether to declare the virus as “a public health emergency of international concern,” its director-general confirmed over the weekend.

The emergency meeting will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 14, to see if mpox, a virus known as monkeypox that has been spreading in about 10 African nations, should prompt the international emergency, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus wrote on social media.

“If so, it will advise me on the temporary recommendations on how to better prevent and reduce the spread of the disease and manage the global public health response,” he said.

Microsoft’s cyber threat assessment unit said on Aug. 9 that a high-ranking official on a U.S. presidential campaign had been hacked by an Iran-backed group, with the Trump campaign later revealing that it had been the target of a cyber attack and linked the breach to “foreign sources hostile to the United States.”

The report from the Microsoft Threat Analysis Center (MTAC) indicates that an Iranian group called Mint Sandstorm that is connected to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps sent a spear phishing email in June to a high-ranking official on a presidential campaign from the compromised email account belonging to a former senior campaign adviser.

With the 2024 election rapidly coming, it is worth revisiting the actual tariff outcome to American consumers in order to dispel the popular myths about tariffs raising prices here at home. This might be the cited data you want to bookmark for later reference.

It was the Fourth Quarter of 2019…..

Right before the pandemic would hit a few months later, despite two years of doomsayer predictions from Wall Street’s professional punditry, all of them said Trump’s 2017 steel and aluminum tariffs on China, Canada and the EU would create massive inflation – it just wasn’t happening!

Overall, year-over-year inflation was hovering around 1.7 percent [Table-A BLS]; yup, that was our inflation rate. The rate in the latter half of 2019 was firmed up with less month-over-month fluctuation, and the rate basically remained consistent. [See Below] The U.S. economy was on a smooth glide path, strong, stable, and Main Street was growing with MAGAnomics at work.

A couple of important points. First, unleashing the energy sector to drive down overall costs to consumers, and industry outputs was a key part of President Trump’s America First MAGAnomic initiative. Lower energy prices help the worker economy, middle class and average American more than any other sector.

Which brings us to the second important point. Notice how food prices had very low year-over-year inflation – 0.5 percent. That is a combination of two key issues: low energy costs, and the fracturing of Big Ag’s hold on the farm production and the export dynamic:

The index for meats, poultry, fish, and eggs decreased 0.7 percent in August as the index for eggs fell 2.6 percent. The index for fruits and vegetables, which rose in July, fell 0.5 percent in August; the index for fresh fruits declined 1.4 percent, but the index for fresh vegetables rose 0.4 percent. The index for cereals and bakery products fell 0.3 percent in August after rising 0.3 percent in July. (link)

For the previous twenty years, food prices had been increasingly controlled by Big Ag, and not by normal supply and demand. The commodity market became a ‘controlled market’. U.S. food outputs (farm production) was controlled and exported to keep the U.S. consumer paying optimal prices.

President Trump’s trade reset was disrupting this process. As farm products were less exported, the cost of the food in our supermarket became reconnected to a ‘more normal’ supply and demand cycle. Food prices dropped, and our pantry costs were lowered.

The Commerce Dept. then announced that retail sales climbed by 0.4 percent in August 2019, twice as high as the 0.2 percent analysts had predicted. The result highlighted retail sales strength of more than 4 percent year-over-year. These excellent results came on the heels of blowout data in July, when households boosted purchases of cars and clothing.

The better-than-expected number stemmed largely from a 1.8 percent jump in spending vehicles. Online sales, meanwhile, also continued to climb, rising 1.6 percent. That’s similar to July 2019, when Amazon held its two-day blowout Prime Day sale. (link)

Despite the efforts to remove and impeach President Trump, it did not look like middle class America was overly concerned about the noise coming from the pundits. Likely that’s because blue collar wages were higher, Main Street inflation was lower, and overall consumer confidence was strong. Yes, MAGAnomics was working.

Additionally, remember all those MSM hours and newspaper column inches where the professional financial pundits were claiming Trump’s tariffs were going to cause massive increases in prices of consumer goods?

Well, exactly the opposite happened [BLS report] Import prices were continuing to drop:

This was a really interesting dynamic that no one in the professional punditry would dare explain.

Donald Trump’s tariffs were targeted to specific sectors of imported products. [Steel, Aluminum, and a host of smaller sectors etc.] However, when the EU and China responded by devaluing their currency, that approach hit all products imported, not just the tariff goods.

Because the EU and China were driving up the value of the dollar, everything we were importing became cheaper. Not just imports from Europe and China, but actually imports from everywhere. All imports were entering the U.S. at substantially lower prices.

This meant when we imported products, we were also importing deflation.

This price result is exactly the opposite of what the economic experts and Wall Street pundits predicted back in 2017 and 2018 when they were pushing the rapid price increase narrative.

Because all the export dependent economies were reacting with such urgency to retain their access to the U.S. market, aggregate import prices were actually lower than they were when the Trump tariffs began:

Import prices from China have not advanced on a monthly basis since ticking up 0.1 percent in May 2018. The price index for imports from China fell 1.6 percent for the year ended in August.

So yes, we know President Trump can save Social Security and Medicare by expanding the economy with his America First economic policy. We do not need to guess if it is possible or listen to pundits theorize about his approach being some random ‘catch phrase’ disconnected from reality. Yes folks, we have the receipts.

This was MAGAnomics at work, and this is entirely what created the middle class MAGA coalition. No other Republican candidate has this economic policy in their outlook, because all other candidates are purchased by the Wall Street multinationals.

America First MAGAnomics is unique to President Trump, because he is the only one independent enough to implement them.

That’s just the reality of the situation. They hate him for it…

Perseid Meteors over Stonehenge

What's happening in the sky above Stonehenge? A meteor shower: specifically, the Perseid meteor shower. A few nights ago, after the sky darkened, many images of meteors from this year's Perseids were captured separately and merged into a single frame. Although the meteors all traveled on straight paths, these paths appear slightly curved by the wide-angle lens of the capturing camera. The meteor streaks can all be traced back to a single point on the sky called the radiant, here just off the top of the frame in the constellation of Perseus. The same camera took a deep image of the background sky that brought up the central band of our Milky Way galaxy running nearly vertical through the image center. The featured image was taken from Wiltshire, England, being careful to include, at the bottom, the famous astronomical monument of Stonehenge. Although the Perseids peaked last night, some Perseid meteors should still be visible for a few more nights.

86% of voters in Starr County supported Obama in 2012 while only 52% voted for Biden in 2020

A sheriff candidate in a Texas border countythat has never voted Republican in a presidential election said Friday he has been "shocked" by the number of residents who plan to support former President Trump in November.

Voters in Starr County, Texas – which is over 97% Hispanic or Latino – have overwhelmingly supported Democratic candidates in the last century, with 86% voting for former President Obama in 2012. In 2020, however, voters shifted away from the Democratic Party in droves, with Biden only grabbing 52% of the vote.

The county could now make a historic shift in 2024.

"I've been doing door-to-door campaigning in all pockets of this county," Starr County Republican sheriff candidate Alberto Olivares told "Fox & Friends First" Friday. "I am just shocked with the number of people that just volunteer that they're going to vote for Trump."

Olivares, a former Democrat himself, said Latinos have been historically conservative, but "for some reason" they have identified as Democrats for generations.

"We believe in God and supporting the family. We want a secure border, supporting our police officers, fiscal responsibilities. So we're conservatives."

Olivares added that people in his community are feeling the "financial squeeze" in addition to the border crisis.

"Border security being so close here is a very important issue. But so is the economy. And people are just struggling."

Olivares, a former Border Patrol agent, said he decided to run for sheriff because "enough is enough," adding it has been 118 years since the county had a Republican sheriff.

"I never dreamed of being a politician by any means, but, enough is enough, and we need some real leadership in the sheriff's office here. We need to increase security for the people. And, I think I'm the right guy for the job."

With Vice President Kamala Harris at 47% and Trump at 49%, the national race is very tight, according to the latest Fox News Power Rankings.(since it's Fox reporting this, Trump is probably at 54%)

Harris’ five-point improvement over Biden comes from upswings in key groups that had drifted away from the incumbent president, including Hispanic voters. Support has increased from 41% after the Biden-Trump debate to 57% now.

The British security services will investigate Tommy Robinson's funding following fears the Kremlin is encouraging riots across the UK, a former MI6 officer has said.

Christopher Steele, who headed the Russian desk of MI6, believes MI5 will want to know if Robinson and Reform MP Nigel Farage have the backing of Putin.

He said: 'They will be looking at things like their travel movements, who they have been in touch with, monetary transfers and so on, because that will reveal or not, as the case may be, a pattern of behaviour which can lead to some conclusions about the degree to which Russia has been interfering in this situation.'

Following the fatal stabbing of nine-year-old Alice da Silva, Bebe King, six, and seven-year-old Elsie Dot Stancombe in Southport, right-wing mobs have rioted across Britain.

Figures such as Robinson, 41, have been accused of using the tragedy to promote their own political causes which include anti-immigration policies.

Mr Steele, who was a counterintelligence specialist for MI6 from 1987 to 2009 told Times Radio: 'I think the security service will be looking very carefully at the instigators of these activities, including people like Tommy Robinson.

'Even conceivably Nigel Farage, who incidentally said that we were being Misinformed by the government about Southport.'

The suspect was quickly named as 17-year-old Axel Rudakubana, who was born to Christian parents in Cardiff, but conspiracy theories spread on social media, claiming the attacker was in fact a Muslim small boat migrant.

Despite being abroad for much of the unrest in a five-star hotel in Cyprus, Robinson used social media to mobilise his supporters calling them onto the streets.

Questions remain unanswered over who is financially supporting Robinson- with some looking to Putin, arguing he benefits from domestic unrest in Britain.

Mr Steele added: 'When you look at the original disinformation that surrounded the Southport killings, that does seem to have come from a Russian-linked website.'

The Home Secretary, Yvette Cooper, branded Robinson an 'armchair thug' following his activity on social media.

After leaving the hotel in Cyprus, it is understood Robinson travelled to Athens with his family.

Robinson has an outstanding contempt of court matter due to be heard at the High Court in late October.

He said he will attend the hearing in London.

President Biden would “absolutely” sign legislation to eliminate taxes on tipped wages if it made it to his desk, the White House said Monday, embracing a policy first proposed by former President Trump and echoed by Vice President Harris.
