The Point of No Return

New episode will be broadcast on Saturday @ 11:30am Eastern (UTC -4) on Discovery Family. (Community streams may vary in programming choices prior to the episode).

Summary:

"Twilight realizes she never returned a book to the Canterlot Library, and besides incurring the disgrace of a super-overdue book and huge fees, she may have caused her favorite librarian to lose her job." - Discovery Family

So at the end of Season 3 DHX/Hasbro/Whateverthefuck made Twilight a princess because they thought the show was ending for good. They then found themselves staring down the barrel of an indefinite number of seasons having blown their wad on their primary character's arc. Since then there has seemed to be a major struggle to figure out just where to place Twilight among the other characters, even creating a new character to stand in for her pre-apotheosis (yes, GlimmerFags, your waifu is nothing more than a narrative band-aid in order to try and maintain a fish-out-of-water audience proxy in the cast.)

So, with only 21 episodes left of this generation of MLP, do you think we'll have a satisfactory wrap-up of Twilight's story? Or is she irrevocably ruined thanks to what amounts to behind-the-scenes production issues?

Something to think about when this episode airs.

Enjoy!

Oh, one more thing. An anon mentioned in the last thread that some of the links in this template are now out of date. Let me know what still works/doesn't work and I'll make the necessary changes.

I remember some tumblr comic a few years ago where they asked Twilight about perks to being a princess, and she started checking out as many books as she wanted without paying library dues, then had to fork over twice as much money to keep the place from going out of business.

Summary makes me expect extreme idiot ball syndrome. If they try to complete Twilight's story it's most likely to come in at the tail end of the season.

Talk about bottom of the barrel, and libraries start sending letters after a time. 2/10? I don't know, but the writer doesn't have a good track record, and I can't be assed to finish the episode.

Shame he lost interest in MLP. I did too, but I just went back and watched older episodes again and I was hooked once more. I don't understand why people can't just pretend the newer shitty seasons don't exist, as if "headcanon" as a concept no longer exists (you see this with other things, like Star Wars), but anyway.

I really need to start learning how to draw, as well as digitally.

As for the episode:

<stupid nonsense plot

Sperging out about an overdue book and needing to learn a lesson about perfection would have fit better in the first two seasons when they were actually doing lessons with each episode.

<2nd episode in a row sucking off spike instead of leaving him in his rightful place as a punching bag

>moondancer's back

<for two lines in a scene

>lesson is good

<but is in a part of the show's lifespan where lessons are replaced with writers' politics and pandering

ok/10 better than s8 but not good

It's still a bunch of recycled scenarios they never used previously. Just put an end to this misery… S8 was already like this, but S9… It's really asking for an extended time prior to a huge hiatus then an announcement for that fucking G5 movie. >Moondancer returned books late often enough to strike up a friendship with the pony who handles late fees.

That's a nice subtle way of reinforcing the "You don't have to be perfect" message.

Episode was shit, though. Two-minute plot and twenty minutes of boring filler, all relying on Twilight not reading a book that was in front of her the whole time. I guess she forgot the lesson from Bridle Gossip. And it isn't clear why Celestia would send her a couple of old books when the ivory tower is full of them.

We're expected to believe that she recognized a book from however many years ago immediately without reading the title. After that, she's so focused on what she's going to do with it that she continues to not read it. Also, Spike doesn't read it either.
