I watched all the episodes of the 8 seasons + all the EqG movies. I use to be such a big brony, I even kept up with the comic books and read 2 of the novels [like how Cadance became an alicorn]. I also watch the mini animated shorts available.
However, I stopped reading the comic books on that issue where Twilight and Trixie look for some lost diamond or whatever. I also haven't watched a single episode of this new Equestria Girls mini series spinoff. And I have read zero MLP novels since the second one.
And man, was I a fucking huge MLP nerd back then. I use to keep up with all the side canon like the comic books and animated shorts. I still have one of the 200 copies of that Comic Con exclusive issue [pic related], which was the only issue that contained Sunset's Shimmer origin story at the time. The regular issues of MLP Issue #9 didn't include this Comic Con exclusive story, and I was one of the very first people to read it.
And the cover is very glittery irl and the pages are very glossy.
Basically, how about you guys? Have you been keeping up diligently with all the side canon (comic books, animated shorts and spinoffs, maybe the books, etc)? I wanna catch up again on the comic books and EqG mini series to see what I've been missing out on. I'll skip the novels though.
Are the comic books and EqG min series worth my time?

Even the editor of the comics admitted they arent canon. That being said, no. I read a few of them that have been dumped on /pone/ but I mostly just stick to new episodes and fanfictiojn if I' craving more than that.

That's one area of MLP I'll probably never touch again. I read that My Little Dashie, Rainbow Factory, and the first few chapters of Fallout Equestria…… but that was years ago, and only because everyone was making a huge fuss about them. An online buddy even wanted me to read his MLP fanfic and give criticism. It was probably the last thing I read before quitting fanfics altogether.

I don't know if you've seen the EqG specials, but Forgotten Friendship is definitely worth a watch if you're at all into EqG. It is easily better than at least two of the movies. Rollercoaster of Friendship is okay if you like AJ/Rarity stuff. And we also have Spring Breakdown coming out in a few days. The digital series is mostly skippable; the only ones worth watching are the more memey ones like the one where Sunset learns to drive.

There is no way you can convince me that that is not me. That character could not possibly be anymore me. It's me, and nobody can convince me otherwise. If anyone approached me on the topic of that not possibly being me, then I immediately shut them down with overwhelming evidence that that character is me. That character is me, it is indisputable. Why anyone would try to argue that that character is not me is beyond me. If you held two pictures of me and that character side by side, you'd see no difference. I can safely look at that character every day and say "Yup, that's me". I can practically see that character every time I look at myself in the mirror. I go outside and people stop me to comment how similar I look and act to that character. I chuckle softly as I'm assured everyday that character is me in every way. I can smile each time I get out of bed every morning knowing that I've found my identity with that character and I know my place in this world. It's really quite funny how similar that character is to me, it's almost like we're identical twins. When I first saw that character, I had an existential crisis. What if that character was the real me and I was the fictional being. What if that character actual became aware of my existence? Did that character have the ability to become self aware itself?
Truly, the fluffy ponies are as the yukkuri are to /jp/. Two peas in a pod, but we got the short end of the stick. We lost.

And it's also just a personal thing. Aside from maybe detective novels, I just don't like reading literature in general. Especially not fanfics, where thousands get made and none of those fanmade stories are even canon or licensed.
