I got into the show in 2012, and i left in late 2016 after the staff got all weird with the election and I've seen via /pone/ that it just got progressively worse and they all just kept bitching on twitter. Seems as if the quality of the show has started to go downhill too, but I haven't really watched any episode since the movie came out.
I recently came across an old brony song from the early days of the fandom (Forest Rain - Join the Herd) and I really just miss those old days. I didn't have ANY friends in high school because my family constantly moved around the country, so every new year was a new school, and I got into ponies largely because of that. It provided comfort while I was being bullied.
Then I got into the fanfiction scene and fan animation scene for a brief period and I was making actual friends… all of whom have left the fandom too and I've lost all contact with. I never knew their real names, they're just gone forever. Listening right now to early 2012-2013 fan music and I realize just how special the early day of this fandom was and damn, do i miss the hell out of it. I miss livestreaming episodes with friends, and the chats, I miss the fan animations, I miss the SFMs, I miss the quality fan art, I miss the shitposting. I miss it. And I'm here now, in 2019, and it's mostly dead, and the staff who make the show are all far left social justice assholes.
Can we ever recapture the magic, anons?

I like to think we'd have fun poking at Gen 5, but everyone's gone, and what's left are people who probably wouldn't be fun to shit-talk the new series with anyway. Probably just came about from lack of interest while I was getting my shit together, I remember keeping up with S6 and just stopped bothering at some point and what do you know, I ended up in anime SoLs in the end; I guess you really just can't get rid of a vice.
