Im starting to believe that all the oldfags and sensible people either an hero'd to equestria or fucked off into their own autistic bubble world, and all you see in the forefront are newfags and glimmerfags who haven't even seen seasons 1-2. MMC should be on the bottom no matter what, as the show direction changed drastically from that point. And twilights kingdom should not be at the top, the libraries destruction along with the meme dbz battle and the uselessness of the princesses and everyone else is cancer. Fuck that is depressing. Well, this is why people write fan-fiction, to relive those old feelings. I think it is time to move on to brighter pastures. I still love ponies, but I'm done with the show and the show is done with us. It was never meant to last this long anyway. The more cancerous voices in the room had perpetuated the "Oh, there are grown men watching our show now, they must love masculine things in a little girls show…" kind of pandering. It was doomed the very second some fatherless homosexual told his homosexual friends about this cool show about adorable equine.

The show is still great, make no mistake. Sure, season 8 has been mostly subpar, but it is by far the weakest season so far, and even then it is redeemed by featuring Silent Voices and Road to Friendship, two of the greatest episodes of all time. Season 7 still ties with season 2 for the title of the best. The holiday special manages to capture some of the oh-so-desperately-yearned-by-oldfags early show magic, too.

It is regrettable, but perfectly understandable. Twilicorn was a good decision, no matter how you look at it. It served both as a satisfying reward for Twilight’s lifelong service as Celestia’s hardworking student, and injected some much needed responsibility into her increasingly stale life. A tiny library in not fit for an alicorn princess to love in, so they had to get rid of it somehow. You could argue that sacrificing it to Tirek was a cheap trick to stir emotions in the audience, but it got the job down of getting the library out of the picture for good done.

Allow someone who lurks more than he posts explain to you why people fell in love with this show back in 2010. During a time of economic hardship since 2008, low societal moral, and a lack of any good cartoons to uplift the spirits, MLP:FiM suddenly came about. It was a girly yet surprisingly enjoyable show that gave many people something that they were hoping for at this time, a world worth living in. The shows simplicity, believability, immersive fantasy world and innocence attracted people (mainly guys) of older age groups during a time of depression, whether it be through school, work, or college. The relatable characters "RELATABLE NOT SUPER HEROS" allowed many to imagine having them as their actual friends, and for others the love of their lives. It resonated with people, because they wanted to BE WITH those ponies in their simple utopian little world. No one wants to go to an equestria where the ponies just act like humans in horse bodies. No, shit eaters like you just cant understand why season 1 was held in such regard as it was. And why the show has become a subpar generic cartoon. The fandoms dead because all thats left is no taste, no brain faggots like you.

There has never been any deep or impressive lore -- no consistent technological level, no politics beyond “The two princesses rule everything, the end”, no defined rules or limits for magic, et cetera. The fandom declined over time. There really isn't one specific thing that can be blamed for it. 8 years is a long time, and some folks just plain lose interest. It happens. I think the drop-off really started around S3/S4, but I think it was probably also a combination of the bandwagon ending when ponies became an old meme, and also many faggot autists getting their personal headcanons about the world and the characters ruined.

I got on the ride during S1 and was really into the show and fandom for a while. I kinda drifted away around S4/S5. Still watched the show, but didn't really engage in the fandom. I got back into it last year right around when the movie came out. There are still good episodes in every season that are on par with those comfy first two seasons, but there is plenty of cringey shit too that weighs them down by comparison (on average anyway).

These days I simply enjoy the show for what it is.

I will say the negativity on /pone/ does get pretty stale. These days I'll post more on /mlp/ (yeah, I know) simply because there is more diversity of opinions on stuff, even if some of the opinions are retarded. When the consensus on here is always "It's shit!" there's not really much to talk about.
