Rural homestead with family and plenty of the basics. Stashing canned foods and other dry foods in sealed totes. Have a source for clean drinkable water with filtering and distilling options. Have rain water collection system too. Plenty of guns and ammo and accessories and kits to clean/lube/maintain them. Some silver coins and cash stacked for emergencies. Plenty of basic essential necessities stocked up (food, over the counter meds, sanitation supplies, medical first aid kits, tools and hardware accessories, booze etc). Chickens in the backyard in enclosed fencing. Sleep within reach of our guns at all times. Have a couple generators (gas and propane). Also have solar power trickle chargers for the 12V batteries with a power inverter rack set up (temporary off-grid energy for the deep freezers and fridge). Portable propane stove for off-grid cooking. That sort of stuff.
When prepping think three things: high-tech, low-tech and no tech. You'll want to reserve preps for all three scenarios (on or off-grid life).

Also forgot to mention. Wood burning stove for heat. A must if you live rural and face harsh winters. Get STIHL chainsaws for sawing logs, they last forever, expensive but very good quality and never had problems with them, easy to maintain and you can get chain sharpeners for them to sharpen your own chains. I work with half and full cords of wood every spring. Already got one 8' and another 16' rack heavily stacked (fortified them to hold heavyier weight during the manual installation set-up).
Only problem with wood stoves or fireplaces is you need to clean the chimney out once every two years, for fire safety. That does suck, but it is well worth knowing you can heat your own home off-grid.
