So I have friend I drink and play pool with and politics do get brought up but is usually minor differences (both seem liberal or moderate) but whatever. So we are driving by and they got all huffy about a Tesla. I just asked why. They went on about how Elon is an Oligarch and the richest man in the world and he is taking over the government. Now I don't doubt that Elon is not always how he markets himself, including with Neuralink , but it seems to me if Congress did their job we would not be in the spot we are in. And I do mention this and so on and eventually get off the topic (the real liberal one is a sperg so don't want to be all over the top). So it makes me think what is the fucking point? If women are vaxxed, most normies toe the line, and never question anything, I don't see the point to putting myself out there. Also weren't most the Russian Oligarchs just rich from seeing ahead and purchasing assets at basement prices for the most part and then Putin coopeted them? Doesn't seem like most of this is the governments fault? I don't know, but after leaving the bar that night I realized I need to move to Tblisi.

In fairness I did forget the Yelstin stuff that was sketchy, but not all Oligarchs were behind the Yelstin scandal and I don't see too many parallels with Russia and the US.

Yes, but the only people in the Soviet Union who could afford to do that were literal gangsters.

It’s not like you could build a small business into something larger and more profitable, then have a large nest egg or property to leverage for a loan to buy previously held government assets. It wasn’t a capitalist system, like, at all.

So the Russian oligarchs were all organized criminals generally involved with drugs or racketeering, or former government cronies who’d used their positions of institutional power to amass personal wealth.

That is not to say I praise Elon or Trump (Trump is fucking up hard), but would rather leave while I realize in my gut things are fucked. Lately I have felt more and more incompatibility with society and I don't think it is just autism, but that society is going off the rails. I know people say to put politics aside and I try to, but just some of the bullshit in society is too much. I also square that with some icebergs I see, and all I can think is rin for cover. I am applying for English teaching jobs, but I realized that if that falls through I should still leave for my sanity.Georfia is a decent plan B due to visas. But I was curious with being fucked. Do you mean in American society or general?

That is a fair point. I can see how some things like his election giveaways could be seen as that, but it is just weird how people get so worked up about it. It is like how people get worked up over George Soros etc. . They don't even worry about fiat currency or an overreaching government, they worry about the billionaire trying to curry favor. Why not just get rid of the big government? Oh yeah, you are a power hungry monster just like the other guy (or gal). Honestly that is what scares me, their shadows come up and it is scary.
