Gas station owner: Increased fuel efficiency reduces air pollution and dependence on imported oil, which has led some people to suggest that automobile manufacturers should make cars smaller to increase their fuel efficiency. But smaller cars are more likely to be seriously damaged in collisions and provide less protection for their occupants. Greater fuel efficiency is not worth the added risk to human lives; therefore, manufacturers should not seek to increase fuel efficiency.

The reasoning in the gas station owner’s argument is flawed because the argument

(A) presumes, without providing justification, that it would be impossible to reduce the likelihood of dangerous accidents for small cars

(B) concludes, on the basis of the claim that one means to an end is unacceptable, that the end should not be pursued

(C) draws a conclusion about what should be done from premises all of which are about factual matters only

(D) presupposes the truth of what it sets out to prove

(E) presumes, without providing justification, that increasing fuel efficiency is the only way to reduce air pollution

>What to bump??

Logic discussions on a political board.

I have fun sometimes watching these threads, but still, I don't participate because I fail to see the politics, also.

Ethanol gas is a scam and causes more fuel to be burned as alcohol has a lower flash point than gasoline which makes it less efficient and thus uses more gas and doesn’t get you as far. Just remove the ethanol scam from the gas mixture and you will increase fuel efficiency by a lot for most cars. What most folks don’t get is that you could make a small block with modern electronic ignition or possibly future plasma ign with a carburetor get 35 miles to the gallon but it will never meet nox emission standards.

WUT, is he presenting an argument or relaying speculative aggregated information as a straw man for his own counter conclusion, which is equally vapid.

Smaller cars are for faggots. Still got a '89 Dodge Ram Charger and a 18 year old Ram 3500 Diesel pickup truck that will last a lifetime.
