A new pope is selected by the College of Cardinals, who are the highest ranking members of the Church. They are usually Bishops or Archbishops overseeing the various dicasteries (territories) of the Church around the world. Not all of them are, some might be from various jocular advisory councils. Various orders have the right (not always asserted) to promote a Cardinal. The head Astronomer of the Vatican is often also a Cardinal, etc.

They will meet and vote on the new Pope sometime in the next few days, weeks, possibly months. At this point, they also jointly run the Church in the stead of the new Pope as Regents. Most typically the Church won't do much of anything during this time but just coast, they rarely assert authority at least publicly. But who knows, they do have the right to act in the Pope's place from the death of the old Pope to the Coronation of the new Pope.

Let's try to have one good thread about this and confine our discussion to it so we don't shit up the board with countless low-effort threads on this topic. I for one hope we get BASED SERAH. It would make the anti-Christs seethe predictibly.

>t-they chose a black guy buh buh… he's not a fag or a commie so it doesn't count!

I forgot to mention, almost without exception the new Pope was a Cardinal participating in the Conclave. But this last Pope's abdication was highly irregular too, who knows what could happen. I think the wheels came off when they locked Benedict away in some Vatican tower where he remained for the rest of his life.

Wikipedia goes to great pains to debunk the prophecy. Sometimes outright lying. In the Interpretation section in that article it says:

>For example, Clement XIII is referred to as Rosa Umbriae (the rose of Umbria) but was not from Umbria nor had he any but the most marginal connection with the region, having been briefly pontifical governor of Rieti, at the time part of Umbria.

Umbria the place name is always spelled Umbria, it's an administrative region of Rome. It wouldn't be pluralized as a place name, and never was even back to Pliny. Umbriae, OTOH, means an art or craft or 'works' done by a person as a noun. It also, as a noun, means shade, shadow, or ghost.

Rosa can mean both the rose plant or flower, or it can be a verb which means to gnaw or peck or nibble. But if you know your ancient language of symbolism, you know the rose is the symbol of secrecy.

So even though Wikipedia strains to debunk one example, they had to do it by MISREADING THE LATIN. In reality, Rosa Umbriae for Clement XIII makes sense even according to the Wikipedia's brief synopsis of his tenure:

>His pontificate was overshadowed by the constant pressure to suppress the Society of Jesus but despite this, he championed their order and also proved to be their greatest defender at that time.

The Cardinals are at this moment on airplanes all headed to Rome. It's not too early. It's precisely the right time because, the core of the conclave isn't religious. It's political.

Checked. Nobody knows. I strongly suspect that the last Pope's elevation was the result of a plot extending beyond the Vatican. It was highly irregular and they locked up Benedict in a Vatican prison for the rest of his life until he died. Something weird happened.

Nobody can predict the next Pope at this time, not usefully. Usually after the Conclave gets going officially there will be camps formed around candidates, who will then stump for them with the other Cardinals. There is also a reason for all the world leaders to fly to Rome - they can exert a powerful influence on the next Pope for sure. Watch who goes to Rome and who they talk to and what they say. Biden will go for sure, we haven't seen much of him since Trump was inaugurated but we will. Others, some predictable some not. Xi will send a delegation, I bet.

>Umbria the place name is always spelled Umbria, it's an administrative region of Rome. It wouldn't be pluralized as a place name, and never was even back to Pliny. Umbriae

Rosa Umbriae would still make sense in Classical Latin as the -ae is the genitive suffix of Umbria (singular indicative), which being a female name falls into the first declension

Umbria was also never a part of Rome (the city). The Umbri were a different Italic tribe and Perugia was Etruscan founded and inhabited before the Roman expansion

What you said about the rosa and shadows makes sense though, even in modern Italian shadow is ombra (see English umbr-ella)

The Benedict affair was certainly a travesty that will take time to rectify/heal if we even have time to begin with.

I read a link somewhere that he had ordered an audit of Vatican finances as well as a crackdown on child molestation before he was clearly forced to 'step down' and bury himself back in the archive room until his death

And I don't think he did it to protect his own life either

>Umbria was also never a part of Rome (the city).

I meant Rome as in the Empire. But 'the shadow of the rose' makes more sense than the rose of Umbria, where he was neither from nor had much of a tenure in. The Umbrae were, by the time of the Prophecy, well assimilated.

You make a fair point but it shows how written Latin (often without any spaces!) and espeically abbreviated Latin can be read multiple ways. People intentionally wrote phrases with double meanings as well, this was done from the early days back to Virgil and probably before.

>>13603568

I wonder if we will ever know more details about it? It is irregular and suspicious. Media and even the Church played it off as 'oh no big deal there is historical precedent' and it's true - but only because it's such an anomaly!

More lightly problematic Latin translations from the Wikipedia Prophecy of the Popes, section Pre-publication popes and antipopes:

>2: Lucius II

>Ex magnitudine motis.

Wiki claims it reads "from the great Mountain" but this Latin reads "out of a great disturbance" to me. That also coincides better with the history of his tenure, Rome was literally in a state of revolt against the Popes at that time!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commune_of_Rome

Also note that Papal names are titles as well, symbolic. Luci can mean sacred grove, and Lucius can mean 'lesser' as well. These double-meaning names are not restricted to the Papacy but it was common for Kings and Emperors to have them as well.

>3: Anastasius IV

>Abbas Suburranus

Again, Wiki seems wrong, they claim it means "Abbot from Subbura" because he was from what they say is the "Family of Suburra" but Suburra is one of Rome's famous densely populated more upscale neighborhoods. It probably means the Abbott of or possibly from this area. His father's name is recorded as Benedictus (merely means blessed but is also a given name) of Suburra, The Latin could be read a number of other ways including "Derived from or coming from within (the Church?)."

I could and will do more but that's enough for now.

There are three Chinese Cardinals, only one was appointed by Francis. That particular Cardinal, Stephen Chow, is also a member of the Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue. He has also said, "Everyone would like to see their own country do well, no one wants it to do badly. I think it’s everyone’s duty to be patriotic if you're a citizen in Hong Kong or mainland China." He also came out against the protests in Hong Kong a few years ago saying something to the effect of, they should be working with the government instead of causing disharmony. He also didn't speak out against it when Xi Jinping started appointing Bishops of the Chinese Catholic Church, instead of Popes in Rome doing it as they always have. Rome also went along with this… under Francis.

The other two seem less iffy to me.

I skipped to the ones post-publication of the book (which is rendered from a manuscript with interpretations by a later author).

>79. Paul V

>Gens perversa.

Wikipedia renders the Latin as "wicked race" but it also can mean askew, awry; perverse, evil, bad; overthrow; subvert; destroy, ruin, and corrupt. Perverse. But gens can also mean, tribe, clan, nation, or people. Who was that Pope, Paul V? Why he was a Borghese princeling, who later on supported Galileo. He established the bank that would become the Vatican bank (Department of Works, today) and used the power of the papcy to make his family the among the most powerful in the world, at that time. Sound familiar?

They vote in rounds until two thirds elect a Pope. If the result of a week's voting is indeterminate, they take a day off then start the process again. It has been as fast as a single round of voting, ie one day, but in some instances has taken years.
