The Pentel Sharp Kerry is the best mechanical pencil I have used. Pretty inexpensive and near perfect. Great click action.

Holds A LOT of lead. Only downfall is a small eraser, but it you're willing to keep a different eraser with you it's fine.

I always used 4B lead to get it to write smooth and dark without tearing the paper.
