I wanted a thread dedicated to mental illness, more to the truth, I wanted to assemble a library about mental illness, but none of the books in my archives explicitly cover mental illness, the psychology books are psychology overall or concepts of psychology, mostly unrelated to mental illness but rather how the mind works.

So, I want books about depression, schizophrenia, ADHD, bipolar, OCD, anorexia, or any other mental illness in this thread. Whatever it is so long as it's about mental illness.

Incandescent Alphabets: Psychosis & the Enigma of Language by Annie Rogers, PhD. [Read this, it's fantastic. Premised on Lacanian psychoanalysis – exploring the relationship between psychosis, language, literature, and art.

You're 100% right, but you can also think about mental health from a holistic, non-dehumanizing lens where *there is no tangible border between the 'mad' and the 'sane'. That's why I am a huge fan of psychoanalysis – because it basically declares everybody's fucked up. Regardless of whether it's a legitimate disease with legitimate scientific treatment (it's not), extreme states of being (such as that called 'psychosis') do exist in the human condition, and can be recognized as such.

Also OP, definitely read 'The Politics of Experience' (Laing) and of course, 'Madness & Civilization' (Foucault) PDFs stupidly easy to find.

I wouldn't call Laing stupidly easy to find. Twenty minutes nailing the keyboard didn't win me the document
