I decided to look for otter videos on YouTube. I accidentally clicked a video of otters kept as pets. I immediately flagged the video. Does it even help though? YouTube seems to be full of these.

The Japanese otter was declared extinct (although there still seems to be some unconfirmed evidence to the contrary) and now the Japanese exotic pet industry supports poaching of Asian small clawed otters. This is so messed up.

You know what. Maybe people need to breed more albino otters. Since they look different from their wild form this may actually encourage more breeding instead of poaching. However, I think it's still important that people get educated about these animals and only adopt them if they can take proper care of them and are willing to put up with the difficulties of keeping exotic pets.

It seems the Japanese (and other East Asians who participate in this, in general) just see these animals as cute things rather than actual living creatures. They pretend to like them, but don't really care about them. Yeah it's messed up, I flag these videos/posts every time I see them.

>>566

If you want a mustelid as a pet, just get a ferret. They were already domesticated 2500 years ago for the purpose of giving people cute mustelid pets. Breeding otters as pets will likely just result in totally-not-ferrets, and I think breeding them in captivity in the first place is questionable since it can take many generations for them to really be tamed, if at all.

Flagging doesn't really do anything, Youtube can remove the video but they can't remove the otter. At most it prevents more people from being encouraged by it. But they ignore most of the reports anyway.

We are exalted by otters as they are a beautiful gift that God has given to us. For God created otters with the qualities of goodness, wisdom, and strength. What does the law of God teach us about the otter? Indeed, it is the source of our happiness and joy. But the most important point it lays down is that the otter doesn't have a mind of its own and that God works through it. The otter doesn't go on about his thoughts and feelings only, which makes it very similar to an angel. God wants his thoughts and feelings to reflect in them. This is why they are called "spiritual beings". When you consider the otter as a rational creature, you find he has no choice but to obey God's will. Otters are so adaptable, that they can move through water, land, air, and even space.

Our pride and happiness is that we fulfill our divine duty of protecting otters. We are loyal to otters and serve them. They are cherished creatures in our hearts.

>"Do you love otters?" he asked.

>"Yes sir," I answered, "with all my heart."

>"If there's one thing we've grown to really like, it's otters."

>"We love otters, we love otters."

I enjoy otters.

<"I don't know what's going on in your head", my mother said angrily, "All you ever talk about is otters! It's as if you're obsessed! All day long, it's always just otters, otters, otters!"

<"Well fine, I am obsessed! I just love them!", I yelled back.

<"Well yeah, but I have many other things to do than talk about them today". My mother put me in a daze with a question. "Why do you even like otters?"

<The whole time, I was asking questions, but I had no answer. All I could feel now was something terrible. It was terrible. I don't know what was going on inside my head, but it was just as bad. It was as if I was seeing ghosts all day. One day, I was playing in my room. At my feet were about 20 otters that were all about 4 years old. All I could see was myself. My father was on his way there just then and I was holding my hands up there to get the otters closer to me.

Yes, otters are the meaning of life.

You see, our body requires nourishment, that's why we eat food. But we often forget that also the soul requires nourishment. And how do we nourish the soul? The answer is Otters.
