Citizens of /miku/, I, The Undisputed MikuTwintails Board Champion, comes to you with another story of great success.
As you may know, on the 9th of March (3/9) last year (2018), Crypton Future Media along with Degica Games published Hatsune Miku VR / 初音ミク VR on Steam for PC. (A game unrelated to Hatsune Miku VR: Future Live).
With an update in October, trading cards, emoji and profile backgrounds were introduced. (although it's not listed on the Store page).

You will probably notice that while most backgrounds and emoji are rather affordable, the Miku ones are at times priced at 5 USD for the emoji and almost 20 USD for the background. As someone quite eloquently put it, "that's the price of Steam cred for you." That being well outside my comfort zone for spending money on something of this nature, but naturally I felt a desire to have these rare items. Alter all, very few people even know about the cards existing, even fewer own the game, fewer still have these rare items.
Back in December I proposed that if I were to purchase the game I could easily and very affordably start making booster packs for it from recycled gems. Then I could try my hand at crafting the badge for it. I theorized that if I were to buy the game discounted to 16 Euro, then get these rare drops, the background alone being priced more than the game, then the game basically paid for itself. The main idea being to support Miku on PC and have some fun playing around with Trading Cards at the same time.
Unfortunately from experience with leveling up my Dark Souls 3 badge I found out that you can craft/level up a badge only 5 times. Each time you get a guaranteed random drop emoji and background, but that also means you only get 5 chances in total to get a rare one.
With that in mind I put my plan in motion. I wasn't having much luck in the beginning, but on the next to last try, when I got the Silver Miku badge I got the Miku emoji. You can imagine how excited I was, but that also meant I had one last chance at getting the background. The fabled Miku background that costs a fortune.
Today at 17:39 I put my faith in the heart of the cards and clicked. Pic related. Good things happen to those who believe in Miku.
The newest update made it possible to watch videos without needing a VR helmet.

But you need to own both the main game and th e DLC. I only own the game.
