I stopped with pixel art for a bit after struggling with some problems in my works (my manual curved lines are horrible, for a example), but I'm trying to go back to it and learn things slowy for now.

Mostly just changed focus, I'm studying traditional drawing at the moment. Pixel art is cool but if you're not great at drawing to begin with every moment you spend fiddling with painting or different mediums like pixel art you're kind of building a deficit that should be going towards figuring out perspective, construction and so on.
(That said, despite almost having neglected any of that peripheral stuff my own progress has been pretty slow so I'd take my advice with a grain of salt)

This is a good point, but, depending on how much time and willpower you have to learn any kind of subject or art, I think is possible to share and even unite all the knowledge obtained from many types of mediums.
I'm learning traditional drawing, animation, trying to create a nice, different artstyle and, after gathering a good portion of information, I'm also using them with Sprites. I still suck but my Pixel Art got a lot better than before thanks to this.

I used to do a lot of non-iso pixel art before but I kinda see it as silly and immature these days.
I'm still be interested in it if I were to apply it in a 2d game but I would use much more realistic palettes and draw less cartoony subjects than say, Mario or Sonic.
