I'm a moron who is trying to read more because my memory is garbage, and apparently reading can possibly help it. Are there any apocalyptic event books set in deep space, in the far future? I can find apocalyptic books, I can find deep space books, and I can find distant future books, but not one that combines all three.

What do you mean by post-apocalypse, and deep space? There's a whole sub-genre about the barbaric age after the collapse of interstellar civilization, and stories about lost colonies are a plenty too.

Not so much post-apocalypse, but the event itself. Like the book happens during it. The only comparison I can think of is Event Horizon, but it doesn't have to be horror, more sci-fi. Sorry if I'm not being clear, I'm not very good with words.

I suspect this is not quite what you are looking for. I'll throw them out there anyway.

The original Foundation trilogy by Isaac Asimov. His short story magazine format may be easier for you to grasp being as it is somewhat repetitive. Most of the stories take place on planets though.

Consider Phlebas by Iain M. Banks. As I recall, themes ranging from "here it comes!" to exploring places long after an apocalypse run through this work.

I did read your post wrong, dumb me. You clearly stated apocalyptic event, not post-apocalyptic.

>Event Horizon

So by apocalyptic event you mean a catastrophe/major accident and by deep-space you mean happening in space instead of on a planet? You could try giving Blindsight a chance.

I would consider looking into:

>Horus Heresy series

>Songs of The Dying Earth (and the dying Earth genre it spawned)

>The Night Land

>Hyperion

I would also recommend you read cosmic horror like The Dark Gods by Ted Klein.

Also, there are some novelisations of Judge Dredd which has a similar feel.
