Is it fruitful to look for a father figure in literature? May be a fictional character or even the author himself? Recently i feel like i've lost the sense of purpose and i can't turn to my dad because he's just like the father from 'Rebel without a cause' - he lost his job, stays at home and slaves (not helps) for my mother. I grew up while he worked across the state, hence i never had the slightest of paternal care or guidance.

Where do i look to for some kind of a direction? Help me out brothers.

If you are already an adult, you probably wouldn't benefit that much from having a "father figure" in your life. I imagine that a paternal influence is much more subconscious than anything alse, and, being already past your development age you won't absorve anything from just reading books about manly men and trying to conciously emulate their behavior.

Instead, perhaps you should turn on to philosophy and self-development. I know it may sound cringy, but I guess Jordan Peterson stuff is just what you are looking for.

You should probably start lifting too.

Thanks. Stoicism hits me home quite a bit so i've been reading up on it lately. And yes, im starting a lean-bulk routine complete with bulking diet and intensive workouts. Hopefully, i won't feel as helpless as i do now.
