Realized that I'm not interested in business and I'll just fail my classes if I continue that route, so I'm going english, which I enjoy. I read a lot of smaller things like articles, poetry, and press releases. However I enjoy reporting and romance novels and other things. I'm not into retarded philosophy because its for incels and numales. I know english degrees suck for job prospects but I plan on moving to asia and being a teacher anyways and living extremely frugally in public housing. Thoughts?

>Thinking that because you like romance novels and press releases you are suited to teach English to non English speakers
>hating philosophy

>wanting to move to Asia while hating philosophy
Are you a woman OP? Either way you're retarded and you're going to fail at that plan. I could probably name a half dozen different jobs you are better suited for.

You moron, "you're" is the proper form here. It is a contraction of "You are". As in "You are hopeless". If *you* *are* the OP and you think you can be an English teacher Despite not knowing the difference between *you're* and *your* is fucking retarded. Actually it's worse, to call you retarded would be an insult to the retarded.

You’ll mature once you stop considering Asia as your personal escape hatch from life and it’s pressures. Learn to focus and enjoy work; finish your business degree. A humanities degree is only useful if you use as a stepping stone to an advanced degree that is more career focused.

I’m a little hesitant towards advanced degrees
I don’t want to live my life in a cubicle
I’d prefer a teaching job, or something else where I can be around positive minded people

As far as I've been able to think on it, a person only goes to post-secondary education for one of three reasons.
>reason 1: to pursue a specialized field which all but guarantees a career at the end of it (e.g., medical school, law school, etc.) in order to garner wealth and the American Dream™
>reason 2: to pursue a higher education to become an overall more cultured and knowledgeable human being and to be exposed to different ideas by gaining access to storehouses of knowledge
>reason 3: to go further into academia to become heavily involved in a particular facet of their field of study in order to gain mastery over it and hopefully pass on this knowledge to the next generation by contributing something, even if it's insignificant
Rarely, if ever, do these reasons intersect. Those who go for reason 1 move on to become materially successful but husks of man, devoid of purpose. The typical bugman.
Those who go for reason 2 think they go for reason 1, then proceed to become indignant because they don't pull a six figure salary after graduation. The typical Women's Studies Graduate.
Those in reason 3 are content to pursue more information in their field of study, regardless of their salary. The typical Ivory Tower professor separated from the outside world.
Maybe I'm being a little cynical, but those are ostensibly the three choices laid before you, anon.
Choose wisely, because the outcome depends on your aptitude and how you view success in life.

Yeah good luck with that. High schools students don't give a shit and most college students are taking the class as an elective.
Don't make the mistakes I made and think you can make your hobby a job. Just study for a good job, something you won't hate.
Also if you become a professor you will be ousted if you don't join the hive mind of Marxism

The causal link between college major and career exists, but not at all the way people like to imagine it does. The fact that so many future baristas and low-paid teachers major in English, and that so many future realtors and managers major in business, is merely a reflection of them studying their interest. There is no case to be made that they ended up in those jobs _because_ of their college major.
In mid-1960's USA, the most common degree held by CEO's was a B.A. in English. This is because during the 1950's business itself hadn't yet caught on as a major, and accounting was more of a technical profession than a basis for leadership. The old majors of "Greats", "Letters", and "Classics" were becoming seen as impractical for the Jet Age businessman, and relegated to the world of landed gentry.
>>14927 is right that you shouldn't consider Asia an escape hatch. I've watched enough people fall for that fantasy, only to become even more stressed and disillusioned than they'd be working in the US. If you WANT to work hard at teaching, by all means do it, but if you can't hack it in the US, making a modest salary that could buy you a small house, you sure as hell won't hack it in any Asian country.
Study what you want to study, and kick ass at it. An English grad with ambition and determination can advance in a career and find fulfillment. A business major who is relying upon the degree, while lacking vision and determination, will be forever grinding away, numb and unfilfilled. Your future is in you, not in your major.

I hope so because I remember my university time when I realized all I learned isn't what I wanted. I decided to change the faculty and it was so hard way for me. I needed to end the year and haven't time for all this preparing stuff. Fortunately, such sources as this one https://eduzaurus.com/free-essay-samples/cosmetology-and-a-career-as-a-cosmetologist-pros-and-cons/ exists, and it helped me a lot to keep balance and succeed in the end. Such decisions are one of the hardest, but it's better than staying on faculty/job/in a family which you hate.
