I've searched far and wide for some piece of literature to truly unsettle me and I haven't found it yet, but I'm still searching. Anybody know of any good horror authors/novels? Specifically any that have really unnerved you personally?

Only story I've ever read that genuinely spooked me was Lovecraft's Rats in the Walls, but that's a short story. A book that really unnerved me personally was Notes from Underground, but not for the reasons you're looking for.

Poe's "Pit and the Pendulum". I'm claustrophobic so that got me good.

I'm not entirely claustrophobic but The Beast in the Cave made me feel that way.

One author who evokes a true sense of anxiety and despair is Howard Lovecraft. His books, such as "The Ridges of Madness" and "The Call of Cthulhu", immerse the reader in a universe of boundless horror and hopelessness. Also recently I read lifelong learning essay its role for soldiers, used https://samplius.com/free-essay-examples/lifelong-learning-essay-its-role-for-soldiers/ for that. In a sense, war is horror. Stephen King's novel "It" can also cause a deep shock. With its violence and chilling imagery, this novel is guaranteed to leave you in a panic. But remember that the power of literature lies in its ability to emotionally influence, so be prepared for an amazing experience!
