According to this guide, it looks like all I'd have to do to get a full auto M16 would be to mill the receiver to fit the auto sear and buy an M16 parts pack. Do you need an AFT license to buy an M16 parts back, since it's supposed to be a replacement for registered M16 lower parts?
If I were to actually create this, I would only use it in case of actual anarchy caused by a civil war, world war 3, grid-down caused by EMP, etc. Gun crimes with full-auto weapons are almost non-existent in the US, and I would imagine that there are thousands of unregistered full-auto weapons made after May 1986 in civilian hands in the US. It's just that the owners of those weapons are smart enough to keep them secret and away from criminals.

Could I get away with simply making a 3D printed drop-in auto sear? I would still need the M16 parts for the rest of the trigger assembly.

Parts kits are parts kits. The item that's regulated, is the receiver. Funny enough, a California court made a ruling and set a precedent that stripped AR-15 full-auto receivers aren't machine guns, since AR-15 receivers aren't even firearms under the GCA, and therefore aren't fit to be regulated as a fully-automatic firearm.

Swift links don't require an M-16 parts kit, just an M-16 "full auto" bolt carrier and low-shelf receiver (most modern ARs). As an "auto connector" like the Lightning Link, it just uses the standard bolt carrier as a timing mechanism to depress the disconnector and release the hammer to fire in full auto if the trigger's still held. This allows for high plausible deniability, unlike having a full M-16 parts kit installed in order to use a traditional M-16 DIAS. Being a clear full-auto drop-in for such a common AR-15 variant, it's almost guaranteed to be considered a machine gun. If you're not an SOT, or make one of these with no engraving as one, you could be in some serious trouble if you get caught with an unregistered one.
Here's some images and a PDF on 3D-printed Swift Links and M-16 conversions AKA the only full-auto AR-15 conversions worth doing.

Do I really need to be super anonymous with buying the M16 parts kit and third hole jig? I could get away with using a card I purchased with cash from the grocery store and using a fake name and email address, but I don't think I could get away with shipping the package to a residence I don't live in. I was thinking about shipping it to my grandmother's house, but she's still closely related to me.

This type of information is highly censored online. It's easiest to learn how to do something when you see it being done of video, and you can't find any videos online that tell you how to convert your AR-15 to an M16. There are a few PDFs that essentially tell you how to do it, but they're not very visual. Thanks to the first anon who posted on this thread, I now know I only have to get a lower that's milled like an M16 lower without the third hole for the auto sear, and then use third hole jig and a drill press to make the hole for the sear that I'll have from the M16 parts kit. After that, all I'd need to buy is an M16 bolt carrier assembly.
I currently only have enough money for the M16 parts kit and third hole jig. I better buy all of this stuff soon, because there's no telling when all of this stuff is either going to be banned or require an NFA license to purchase online. The drill press is going to be the last thing I buy.
It actually took me about three days to get this far. Three days ago, I watched a video telling me it would actually be extremely difficult to turn a semi-auto AR-15 to a full-auto M16, and that you'd have to get your hands on an M16 lower in order for it to work, and that I'd have to have an NFA license in order to do that in the first place. Now, I know that I can actually buy all of that stuff online, and that I'd simply have to drill a hole in the lower receiver for everything to work.

Doesn't the coat hanger stop working after about 200 rounds? I heard that a 3D printed swift link would last for several times more. I don't know anything about 3D printing. What would be the best printer to use, and what kind of plastic would be best?

any 3d printer works, the ender 3 is the honda civic of 3d printers, you can pick up an ender 3 for less than $200 if you wait for it to go on sale. PLA is a good starter plastic for 3D printing because of how easy it is to print with. the swift link will work with PLA but your mileage may vary. Nylon would probably be the best plastic to print with for this application but i think ABS or PetG would work too but most cheap 3D printers need to be upgraded if you are going to print a lot with the plastics that require higher temps.

How do I convert a fuel filter to a suppressor, and are there any particular fuel filters I should look out for? Links would be appreciated. It would be nice to have a full-auto AR-15 with a suppressor just in case of civil war or WW3.

You could probably make your own. Deterrence Dispensed just released the M4A1 technical data pack, so you could potentially get the auto sear dimensions/plans from there.

>mill
If you have a mill you can make a DIAS.
Not sure what the point is, however, unless you like spending money for tons of ammo, running your barrel hot enough to fry bacon, all while going to prison for very stupid reasons. Full auto has no tactical use other than clearing trenches and suppressive fire.

There are people who have managed to hide illegal machine guns for many decades, with their machine guns only being discovered after they died. It's not too hard to keep a secret. You just don't tell anybody, and avoid doing anything stupid to attract authorities' attention.
>Full auto has no tactical use other than clearing trenches and suppressive fire.
Exactly, but the ability to do suppressive fire would be very valuable in a civil war, WW3, or any other extreme SHTF situation.

1) Any weapon you neglect to train with isn't going to be very useful or reliable
2) Are you really going to have all that excess ammo available in a "civil war"?

>Are you really going to have all that excess ammo available in a "civil war"?
All you have to do is buy 1000 round boxes of 5.56 every now and then when you have some spare money lying around that isn't coming from your emergency fund. Over time, you'll get close to 10,000 rounds of ammo. I think that would be a decent amount for a such a situation for yourself, but 20,000 rounds would be more than enough for one person. You would be able to do suppressive fire all day long for many encounters without having to worry about running out of ammo with 20,000 rounds. What if some of your buddies need ammo? 50,000 to 100,000 rounds would be better for a large group, especially since you'll probably be wasting less ammo when you're working as a group than when you're trying to fight all by yourself.
>10,000 rounds would cost you anywhere between $3,500 and $4,000.
>20,000 rounds would cost you anywhere between $7,000 and $8,000.
>50,000 rounds would cost you anywhere between $17,500 and $20,000.
>100,000 rounds would cost you anywhere between $35,000 and $40,000.
This is all assuming you wouldn't be able to buy ammo in quantities higher than 1,000 at a time, since you would probably be able to pay bit less if you could buy boxes of 10,000 rounds at a time. I think most of us would realistically be able to stockpile 20,000 rounds.

Here's an improved version of the second image with added information. I tested it, and it still posts on 4chan, but the image resolution is barely small enough to still be accepted. I added information about using a VPN and Tor Browser to remain anonymous, so the alphabet boys can't figure out who you are, or at least not be willing to put in the massive effort it would take to figure out who you are.
