jamming

Why did their guns jam? What did they do wrong? What could they have done to avoid what happened? Tarrant appears to have recovered and cleared his weapon, but Earnest did not. Please compare the two. Even if Tarrant was more competent than Earnest, was he still relatively unskilled despite the supposed 2 years of prep?

IIRC Earnest just nabbed the gun from his dad's drawer and likely didn't bother to clean it, much less train with it enough.

There is an argument to be made for the use of the bayonet.

If your gun goes down for any reason, then at least you'd have a pig sticker on the end to keep them from bum rushing you while you get it running again.

They didn't practice with their weapons enough to know how well they worked. Not every rifle likes all ammo, and you need to break them in a little to get peak reliability. AR isn't a sensitive platform in terms of stance or hold, you aren't going to limp wrist it or anything. Neither were using them in an environment that would cause any interference. Had to be issues with the rifles themselves or the rifle/ammo combos.

What firearm did Earnest use?

Don't know about the piano fag but Brenton's shit jammed because when he dropped the mag it probably jacked up the rounds.

>What did they do wrong?

Brenton Tarrant had his brass to the sky. Earnest probably didn't train enough.

>What could they have done to avoid what happened?

For Tarrant, brass to the grass. For Earnest, TRAIN TRAIN TRAIN. You only get one chance so might as well train and buy training. Clean and maintain your shit, train with it. Also buy good equipment, you're going to be in jail for the rest of your life after so might as well get the best of the best.

>I've never heard any reason why you would extrapolate that to chest rigs.

There are a few reasons. Protection for the feed lips, naturally puts your hand in the best position and orientation for inserting mag into gun, and with polymer mags, the fat floorplate is a good gripping surface. Also, since most carriers are built with brass to grass in mind, you'll probably have more secure retention from putting mags in that way.

3374f1 No.671083

>>671080

I could maybe see the feed lips getting damaged if you have your pouches too loose and you take a dive, or if something hard hits you square in the chest, but that doesn't seem like a major concern. You're not going to control how the mag falls if it somehow slides out of the pouch anyway, and in that situation I'd almost think facing upward might even be preferable - maybe? Any dropping is going to rattle it and make it feed improperly regardless of how it hits, though. As far as ergonomics, I think that's too dependent on the individual gun, the mags you use, and your choice of carrier since everything's gonna handle differently.

You do have a point about the often funky shape of polymer mags, which I wasn't thinking about since everything Tarrant used besides the drum was USGI. I'm remembering now that Magpul even makes those rubber thongs to put on the bottom of their overpriced meme mags because those get stuck in some carriers.

>John Earnest

>What did [he] do wrong?

Being a fucking Autist who with typical convert's zealotry took le jew mene literally and did a half-assed attack on a low level branch of a completely different religious denomination than the one intended. I really am convinced that *Autism* and the resultant inability to tell a guy who reached a position from research and understanding from a guy who would read a chapter of The Culture of Critique and decide to shoot up a Hebrew school is the single biggest problem with the dissident right.

We're talking about people who see someone that discovers the "Alt-Right" and quits their job to "name the jew" out on the street and react by thinking "Wow he's so dedicated to the cause and so unwavering in his convictions that he ought to be our leader." There is a huge tendency to mistake the extreme stances for seriousness and credibility.

Truthfully Tarrant can be said to have had more to do with Breivik than with this most recent sperg.

>controversial attack

>well planned

>conceived some time in advance

>targeted political violence in reaction to the "Muslim Demographics" video posted, the guy recruited to jihad at that mosque, the conversion of that mosque when it was previously a church, and broadly the killing of Ebba Ackerlund.

>manifesto that explains intentions rationally

>incidentally both manifestos contained misdirection as well as truth with the intent to mislead the media in the ensuing clusterfuck (Spyro the dragon 3 and World of Warcraft respectively)

Alternately, these seemingly spur of the moment attacks are a lash out akin to going postal or a school shooting. John Earnest (nearly underage banned literal Autist) has much more in common in his world view and emotional response to the shitshows that were Paul Nehlen and Patrick Little's ill fated candidacies. Both were converts to the spectrum of views that could be called Alt-Right, and both freaked the fuck out. Nehlen had what might have actually been a successful campaign (esp when Ryan dropped out) and threw it away to shout about semites and consider literally everyone who didn't enthusiastically approve of his half baked 1488er stint a counter conspirator. Now Little's campaign started as such a larp rather than becoming one, but the point remains that it was characterized by the same obsession with making extreme statements (herein "edginess") and confusing this for usefulness.

The Pied Piper strategy works. If the most visible examples of a movement are Sperg Shooters and middle aged men foaming at the mouth in a debate over the best time to nuke Israel, that movement will probably alienate even the percent of the population receptive to positive white identity. It has really reached the point where Terry A. Davis (PBUH) and his "When I am king by divine right" proclamations engender more respect and appreciation than the Cringeworthy streams of recent adherents of the dissident right. For as long as this obsession with edginess persists (and those concerned about image and their own exposure and life compromises are seen as "Opticsfags") there is ZERO potential for institutional or elite defections or for a critical mass of support to form among the populace.

I am not as certain on this one but it does appear that the more level headed folks of this political orientation tend to be those who were exposed to multiple ideologies and their underpinnings. Sufficiently so to understand rationally how the human biodiversity and factors such as social cohesion make ethnic identity and solidarity optimal. This is a positive orientation, asserting what makes sense and ought to be. Conversely, most of the figures now on the scene are of a negative orientation, and thus defining themselves by the opposition to certain factors, in this case The Jews. The postulate here is that they cannot focus on advancing white identity and the American nation because they are so heavily positioned on revenge and edginess as opposed to organizing in a useful capacity. This is exploratory and really not important to the argument of this analysis.

I am not making an argument for these actions and this post serves only an Academic purpose of categorizing the kinds of individuals involved, their degree of planning, and the Ideological Rationale for their actions.

Tarrant and Breivik made attacks that could have worked in an ETA/IRA reminiscent style of:

>Attack

>Use the (over)reaction as a post-hoc rationalization

>Garner sympathy to The Cause from the hamfistedness of the regime

Time has proven that elements of this were at work in the case of Breivik, and that a net political gain has occurred among the nationalists in Norway. From Mandatory Hijab Day and the censorship as well as the peculiar handling of the media of the Sri-Lanka attacks ("Easter Worshippers" – call us Christians), it is beginning to look like this may also occur in the case of the Tarrant action. If Tarrant is allowed to defend himself in court and there are transcripts and coverage of that, these may further increase and have a narrative thread more obviously woven through them.

In most cases of any successful revolutionary action there was an "airlocked" connection between the paramilitary organization and its ideological kin in civic groups or party politics. In this, there was a political channel where the party organization could claim no responsibility (and may even legitimately possess no knowledge of violent actions) but was a mouthpiece capable of garnering sympathy and reframing the overreaction as a justification.

This will never be possible for as long as AUTISM demands edginess and derides anyone who is an "OPTICSFAG"

DISCLAIMER:

Hobbyism of defense and military analysis (NEITHER THIS POST NOR THE PREVIOUS ONE) does not constitute ideological sympathy or agreement with any of the parties involved If one were to write a similar post mortem about the Indian Naxalites or Maoists or Antifa there would be no accusation of allegiance there. Yes, but it also works for magazines in your carrier. It's awkward to take a magazine out of your carrier if the brass is to the sky. Don't believe me? If you think anything in my post implied in any way any form of support or love for democracy, you need to get new glasses, Strelok. However, hating the use of democracy to undermine society doesn't mean that actively making things worse for yourself on purpose is a good or reasonable alternative. People who cheer that on act like the only options are a slow boil or suicide, when that's simply not the case whatsoever, and that kind of defeatism combined with complacency is most of the reason that we have arrived in our current situation. 'I can't do anything to stop it so I'll enforce it' is never a winning strategy. Revolutions don't get off the ground by kiking themselves to death or giving the public reasons to hate them for killing unjustifiable targets, they get off the ground by organising and turning the clock back. Shooting le epin browns for Facebook is useful idiocy at best, you should be rounding up the politicians, the bankers, the traitors, usurpers, the privileged and the turncoats. Making white people look bad by killing individuals who aren't threatening white people does not stop the greater anti-white plot, it bolsters it.

Tacticool stuff usually doesn't live up in real situations, which is not meant to imply that BTTR is 'tacticool', so don't take it that way. But, I'll be the first one to admit that I don't own any LBE right now, although I've used some in the past. I just haven't bought any guns that made it necessary yet, which is honestly something I need to do sooner rather than later, but it's a matter of time and money. I have practiced one-handed reloads with pistols, though, and I've seen some guys do it with ARs using pouches that are shallow, so we don't know whether Tarrant might have expected to be shot at and wounded. It goes without saying that he researched that town well enough to know ahead of time that the mosque had (((ISIS))) connections. He's very obviously afraid at several points in the video.

No having your mags staged like that isn't "tacticool" it just makes perfect fucking sense. That's beside the point, appeal to authority is a dumb argument but the take away from that shouldn't be "Well x and z do it so do it" The take away was do it yourself, see which is faster and less awkward, and think why that's the current doctrine of pretty much everyone.

Tarrant's failure more than likely stemmed from a magazine failure.

The magazines themselves were good, they were Magpul PMAGs which are up there in terms of AR15 magazine reliability, but his jamming came when he ran out of ammo in his current magazine and he had to recover one of his dropped jungle mags from the hallway which weren't fastened well enough to his mag pouches.

>Their presence alone threatens what is left of western society.

That much is definitely true, since they've been lovingly indoctrinated with the idea that they have no responsibility to respect our nations or our cultures, and they get so much free shit and so much preferential treatment that they're practically lording over the natives in some countries, like Sweden and England. But the issue is that it's simply not mathematically possible for lone actors to kill enough to make a difference, because in many cases those people are being shipped over the borders by the thousands per day. I checked the numbers recently, and Australia literally has a population that is dying out while countless foreigners flood in. Check this shit:

>As of February 2018, the population growth rate was 0.9%.[35] This rate was based on estimates of (April 2019):[1]

>one birth every 1 minute and 41 seconds,

>one death every 3 minutes and 20 seconds,

>one migrant person arriving to live in Australia every 56 second,

>one Australian resident leaving Australia to live overseas every 1 minute and 53 seconds

In 10 minutes, 5 Australians are born. 8 Australians are lost. 10 foreigners enter, leading to a net increase of 7 aliens. No change in the number of aliens currently there is big enough, you have to stop the flow first and stop it hard. New Zealand unironically increased their immigration quotas in response to Christchurch. The men in suits profit from 'acceleration', and the allegorical handbrake is voting from the ammo box.

How do average AR's hold up to sustained fire? I've never magdumped a rifle to the point of scorching metal, anybody ever "simulated" a mass shooting on the range? Any time I see a shooter bring several of the same rifle I assume it's because they have to switch out every time the rifle starts to jam.

Are American ARs really that shit?

In Germany a decent civilian AR15 costs a small fortune, like 2-3000€ but the stuff works out of the box. I've shot competitions dumping three or four 30rd mags in the shortest possible time, failures are highly uncommon if you pay minimum attention to your gun and ammo and test your setup beforehand. Look at IPSC Rifle. If shit jammed every few rounds you'd get nowhere.

Over here problems mostly arise when people start overtuning their gear for minimum recoil at the cost of reliability. The only severe issue I ever had was while messing with an adjustable gas block and alternative springs. Live round got stuck under the bolt, took me a while to disassemble upper and lower to get it out. Apart from that, never had a malfunction that couldn't be cleared within seconds and I'm really not the most experienced shooter.

Brenton Tarrant targeted Muslims specifically as opposed to any other flavor of nonwhite invader or their judaeo-communist enablers. He did so for damn good reasons.

One, Islam's intent to destroy western civilization is not only blatant but immediately demonstrable. Even if you ignore the Qaran and the rest of their holy texts, even if you ignore the thousands of years of conflict between Islam and the West, you only need to look as far as the terrorist attacks, church burnings, and rape gang standals that have happened in the last twenty years.

Two, Muslims are rightly despised in the West. The people are resentful of being victims of Muslim violence, and even more resentful of their governments forcing "religion of peace" propaganda down their throats while actively importing more Jihadis. Any attack on Muslims will, moreso than an attack on any other group, generate sympathy for the the attacker's causes. Look at Senator Fraser Anning's response to Christchurch.

Three, Muslims are one of the few groups guaranteed to respond with violence in kind, which they did with the burning of Notre Dame and the Sri Lanka bombings. These attacks will serve to further polarize the population and generate even more sympathy for white unity and solidarity.

Attacking Jews, as much as they are at fault, does not further these aims. The average westerner is still choking on eighty plus years of postwar propaganda and largely views the Jews as faultless and persecuted. When Earnest went for the high score and fell flat on his face, he generated sympathy for the Jews, not for his own people.

Someone's old import HK91 or HK93 will work as well as a G3 or HK33, a civie semi auto FAL was inferior to the military ones made in the same factory how? Colt makes the AR15A4 in the same way they make an M16A4, many police and security will use the semi auto only version. Is your reputable make AR15 a fine combat grade rifle? There is a very good chance, that yes, it is.

The big punch in the nuts problem is modifications and various manufacturers. One reason I like the delayed rollers is that they are stupid retard simple, no gas system and they will run about any ammunition when set up right. Take your FAL, if it doesn't like a light or hot load of 7.62 or 308 you just adjust the gas system built into the design. You start fucking with M1a/M14 and the whole AR15/M4/M16 systems you start to see shit. Garands don't like getting out of their comfort zone without damage to the system. AR15's, like other gas guns, will sometimes have major issues with which gas systems are used and the ammunitiion and barrel length. Start fucking around with various builds and you will have guns that don't work well, guns that are finicky and only like certain power rounds.

People like me buy and stock to GI, all my shit is original or military original stuff. My only AR15 is a standard rifle, basically the same as the government uses. Johnny Modsalot will end up with a barrel and a gas system that he might like or buy for this reason or that, and it will work with what he buys, then one day it fucks up on another brand or another handload that should work in a true GI spec system. Keep fucking around with your gas and barrel and don't complain when your gun doesn't run everything you feed it.

>>671722

Think about the spec's on military rifles and the fact they are sometimes looser than civilian models. This increases their reliability under heat and fouling, it also means they can use any type of shitty NATO ammo made in Fuckknowswhere. Again, this was another big benefit of the FN FAL's gas system, if you get garbage grade 7.62 NATO you can make the gun work. This is another reason to keep military rifles more loose. Many civilians want a tighter gun for better groups and sport shooting, target shooting, maybe hunting. The tighter gun and better accuracy can come at a price.

He does use 223. on coresponding chamber, so the main culprit could be the gas system or dirty fouled gas block.

Is it a surprise to anyone that any standard assault rifle or battle rifle IS NOT A MACHINE GUN? In fact they tell you that 15 rounds a minute is permanent sustainable fire for a lot of rifles, why? That the other common theme to all these jam ups is people blasting away as fast as they can and heating the gun up, and it seems we are so dedicated to the propaganda that "our guns never jam" and super reliability that we cannot possibly dare to accept the truth that if you run a rifle like a machine gun it will fuck up?

Go ahead and take your personal rifle and just abuse it and see what happens. Maybe if you run it like a machine gun you will have failures far faster than you think. The only true machine guns built for that kind of use are the old heavy machine guns, the Maxim's with water jackets. You could include the rotary gattling style. All else will fail.

We build up mythos around our firearms to the point we forget very simple, basic fundamental facts. For fucks sakes kids, they didn't just take away the full auto switch off the guns because of ammunition waste (which was bad enough) but that it leads to malfunctions that get people killed from running too hot. REAL machine guns have had easy swap out barrels for how long? Brenton had an extra rifle in case of what? G36's were having what problems with pencil barrels in the field? Squad heavy weapons like the heavy barrel FAL and M14 variant, the AK squad support, have heavy barrels for stability but also what?

We will blame everything and anything but running the gun hot and admitting they aren't built for it.

If you run your rifle hard, sure it's gets hot and gets a little beat up but if it's a quality weapon it shouldn't jam up because even if you're shooting it fast it's still not as fast as fully auto unless you're a freak like Jerry Miculek and even then Jerry is not as fast as a fully automatic firearm. This PSA upper made it through around 14-15 magazines of NON-STOP automatic fire, something that would never happen to people just pulling the trigger fast, before finally hiccuping, unless you want to count the failure to lock back. So I don't buy this bullshit argument that it's from running the ARs hard. It's very obvious what caused Breton's weapon malfunctions, he dropped his mags and it probably fucked up the top round. As to why Adam and John's weapons malfunctioned, I think it was lack of proper maintenance.

Now, like regular media, keep in mind that even the big boi Youtubers will do things. Were those guns REALLY off the rack regulars, or were they picked for the purpose of making the video and showing the very, very best from the manufacturer? Maybe everything is legit, maybe the uppers are picked and then tuned a bit to help them, the better they show on the video the better the promotion of the product. Also, the guns were probably lubed up proper to make them run at their best so they could last long enough to melt.

The other issue is, the bolt failing to lock back, after a mere two magazines, IS a problem, as in the Palmetto upper. Its not a critical failure of the weapon, to a shooter like Adam Lanza its exactly the kind of fuck up that will slow him down and save lives. Lanza got his rifle working again and kept shooting, so his gun had minor issues, not major ones. In stress, wither combat or even a shooting, small things like that can throw a man off his kilter. Combined with a little stress to get you to not jam magazines up tight, its enough to eat up time and reduce the rounds fired. The fully automatic action might make the weapon more reliable at fast fire than rapid semi as well. The M&P was having issues at 7 magazines through, well before the 800 round melt down.

Lanza was having issues around 80 rounds or so, actually, so its not out of the question that an average off the rack AR15 being rapidly fired with normal care would start to have minor issues, enough to fuck up the shooter and get him to simply dump magazines and fuck around, that many rounds into the shooting in that little time. It may not mean that the gun was being taken care of poorly or anyone beat the fucking lips of the magazines till they got fucked up, it might mean an average lubed up average off the rack gun started to have problems after that many rounds.

>Were those guns REALLY off the rack regulars, or were they picked for the purpose of making the video and showing the very, very best from the manufacturer?

That's such a silly question, those weren't reviews. They bought the PSA from the site I doubt they sent the upper for free to IV8888. The MP was bought from a brick and mortar store, so no on that one. The bolt failing to lock back is on the lower not the upper so it doesn't reflect on the quality of the PSA upper. Both melt downs used the exact same lower if you actually did watch it.

>Also, the guns were probably lubed up proper to make them run at their best so they could last long enough to melt.

This goes back to what I was saying earlier, maintain your shit and it's not going to jam bar bad mags or bad ammo.

>The fully automatic action might make the weapon more reliable at fast fire than rapid semi as well.

Do you even own firearms? How the hell does that make any sense?

>Lanza was having issues around 80 rounds or so

Again I doubt it's the firearm itself, most of these problems are magazine based.

The bottom line is, your shit is not going to start failing on you when you run it a little hard if it's well maintained firearm and the magazines are in good condition.

No, he's a paid shill, the man shills for a living. Not bashing him, but that's the way that industry works. You get paid to promote stuff. If they say they aren't promoting and didn't talk to the company beforehand, they are lying. Chances are they are hand select guns, lesser but still extremely high chance they were worked on before the tests. That's one aspect you are absolutely wrong about. How much does he charge per video again?

I don't mean they were just field lubed before the tests, they might have doused the things before they started. There is a difference between a gun that's freshly extra lubed for a purpose, a freshly lubed field lubing, and a gun that sits on the ready with that field lubing that sits for a month because the gun isn't fired. There are tons of regular folks out there who dump lube into the gun on field days and then clean them afterward, douse them in lube you would never use in the field because its excessive and gathers dirt.

Lanza was having some sort of difficulty around the same time the Palmetto started to have failure to lock open. Also, do we know for certain that every magazine in the IraqVeteran works ran empty, or did he dump them if they had a failure at the bottom of the rack?

Bottom line is, run your shit too hard and it will start to fail on you in ways that will surprise you. Don't let setpiece shill videos tell you otherwise. Yes, we need to reinforce the propaganda that maintaining your gun is the most important thing, but then again telling people not to beat their shit till it fails is important as well.

Direct impingement IS gas operated, you fucking moron, and the AR-15 isn't even direct impingement. It's a piston system where the bolt carrier acts as the piston. Adding a separate piston between the gas tube and 'gas key' in ARs has always proven to be damaging to the action, which is something you would know if you had ever followed the news around the HK416 or M27 IAR and how short the service life on those meme rifles is. Fun fact for you cool cats out there trying to mix soap and gasoline over a stove: don't. Just put it into an airtight container, and use a vacuum pump to put it into deep vacuum instead. Once you get into a deep enough micron level, the liquid will boil itself, and you won't have to worry about a fire.

It wouldn't have jammed simply on the merit that 1. it uses a piston instead of full length gas tube, and 2. the larger diameter of the projectile would have had a small chance of catching or deforming during feeding.

The biggest issue that I can really take away from using an ak is volume of fire. There are a lot of if then/then trade off's between ar's and ak's.

With an ak he probably would have gotten maybe half the kills he had. Reloading ak's is finicky as you have to rock it into place, along with them being about 30% longer than 30-rnd ar mags, so keeping them in a rig may have been troublesome. To top it off ak mags have a couple of bits that jut out (the pieces used to seat/lock it into the rifle) that are prone to catching on pouches.

The benefit to an ak is that it blows just as opposed to blowing thru. So if you manage to get a hit on someone with an ak then they're probably going to die, even if not instantly.

Another big issue with ak's is that they really are inaccurate as fuck. This may be remedied with a full stock and/or optics, but the very nature of ak's is lead slingers.

Regardless of the pros and cons, for CQB, both are good platforms, you just need to make the proper adjustments to ensure flawless operation. In the end, whatever you can get within reason will do. IMO if you expect open areas of 50yds or more, go with an ar, it's made for those distances.

Comes back personal competency. If you are proficient, a tactical reload won't depend on your firearm choice in most cases, if you gain proficiency you will do well. The very real, as well as the very supposed, advantages of the AR style system for magazine changes aren't going to make and break someone who is prepared. Brenton was prepared and proficient, that is why he did as well as he did. The kid was fucking not prepared and failed.

The AK family is accurate enough with iron sights for short range combat. Same with the rest. Its not a lack of optics, not a lack of magazine this and that. Want to be honest, you can take a gun with poorer ergonomics and be extremely effective, IF you are trained and prepared.

> I just think some people on this board simply refuse to accept even the possiblity of an AR15 ever jamming to the point to where they deserve to be mocked for their absurd emotional attatchments.

People get awfully stupid about things, especially "muh X" whatever X is. They lose objectivity and become pathological, eventually becoming a form of shitscum in every conversation they discuss on the issue. We go from productive dialogue to retard fight debate and lose potentially all usefulness of the conversation.

Beyond people defending the X that they love, there is legit astroturfing out there. Some to defend mantras that have some positive value to them (my well maintained gun never fails, so I will maintain it and have confidence in it), as well as people defending the choices that have been made, which is nothing new. Keep in mind that mantras have negative aspects as well as positive (my gun never jams, so I won't take care of it, my gun never jams so i can run it hot and hard without fear of problems from abuse), that even if we speak mantras for positive effect we should not delude ourselves into bad habits and acts. Confidence is good, swagger and arrogance can be fatal mistakes.

I like my delayed roller actions, the H&K design is arguably the most reliable of all assault/battle rifles, submachine guns. Yet, I don't go about as if my rifle can't fail, I keep clearing in mind. Practice those things, make sure you know what to do when your gun fails. Do the drills, practice. My C93 is a cheap practice gun for my PTR, I keep the 33 in less then well maintained condition for practice, and between the fouling and Century's shitty assembling, the rare instances of the purposely sabotaged rifle having "jams' is excellent real life shooting drill practice for failure of the action. Go out and shoot 1,000 rounds in a day some time, get the gun good and fouled and see if it fails, don't let the gun cool down too much, see how it does.

Experiencing a minor failure in practice can be a humiliating (in a good way) experience, IF we accept the reason why it failed, IF we practice good clearing practice and learn from it. Marching straight forward with "muh gun never jams" is a dangerous one.

>why did Brenton drop the mag?

He didn't have any active retention on his magazines, not to mention he had them upside down, so when a muslim invader tackled him half of his magazines just fell out of his carrier. Active retention would be something like bungee cords, kydex retention, or velcro straps.

>also please explain brass to sky vs ground?

Brass to the grass comes from MG reloading but it also applies to magazines in a carrier or pouch. When you go to grip a magazine in a pouch it's much easier to grip the magazine by the base so when you go to reload the rifle you can just flip it and stick it in the firearm. If it was the other way, brass to the sky, you'd have to change your grip completely instead of a simple rotation of your hand, making the reload slower than it has to be.
