What are the terraces being built for, Jim-chan? And, >>255 is a LOT of rebar!

The terraces to the north have been there for about 3000 years. These terraces were built and maintained to the current day by the local people on the northern part of Luzon. Rocks and dirt hold them together. I am using concrete and rear for mine. I don't know if it will be as long lasting, but it is a lot more convenient then hunting rocks for a wall.

Cool! Interesting that you say you are not sure how long lasting concrete is, Jim. I was just reading about that in my art class the other day. About the type of concrete that the Romans used. Here's an interesting link: http://www.history.com/news/the-secrets-of-ancient-roman-concrete
TL;DR version
The materials they used for the concrete caused a chemical reaction to make it long-lasting.
Also, I didn’t notice if it is in that link or not, but the Romans put stuff like paint, bricks, or plaster on face of the concrete, to seal it from the weather, sort of.

The Coliseum is still there. They used volcanic silica with their cement.

Yeah. On the plus side, though, the concrete you are using will last a LONG time. Who knows? Maybe in that time you can find some big rocks like the natives in Luzon used, and reinforce your terrace even more.

I am confident that it will outlast myself and probably my kids as well.

Ah. Do you have kids already? I do not. But then again, I am only 18.

Yes I have plenty of kids. Some older than you. At your age I don't recommend having kids, at least for a while. They are not a good investment for young people.

Do you have a wife or something, then? Is any of your family with you in the Philippines? And, yeah, I am planning on waiting at least 6 to 8 years.

Looks like terrace two is coming along well! Also, like it was a nice day on the farm!
Thanks for the pics, Jim-chan! :)

Are there more people involved than you and your workers?
Just wondering, what kind of permits or licenses do you need to do stuff in the Philippines?
