Except I live in cucknadastan. And though I could move to murica, my interests lay mostly with Japanese things. So it makes sense to go to Japan. Bonus points for right now at least and hopefully always, not having to deal with the shitstorm taking over the west

I'm an electrical engineer and a fairly competent programmer. It's not like I'm some dumb unskilled labourer. If I was to learn Japanese, which I'm currently doing, I will be in a very good position, considering the sheer number of companies in Japan that require electrical engineering talent. If I demonstrate my competence, there will be no issue. It's not like I'm some foreign invader. I'm highly skilled, I'd know the language and culture, I'd assimilate, and I'd bring my assets like my car (if I can)/money, so I would by no means be a burden or economic migrant. In fact, I'd be desirable and would probably be able to get in just on an investor visa. But obviously I'd need a job in order to make money and not suck my assets dry

No idea. I did repaste it a month ago, but it was working fine with no issues. Even underload for hours, I had no problems.
Could just be the manufacturer being unreliable as well. The card only lasted 5 years.

Artifacts in games with the whole game and computer freezing up when it happened. It even happens when I play videos on Youtube. The card just did not want to boot up afterwards.
I hope it's not an issue of the paste spreading over the GPU die and shorting things out. It shouldn't, because this thing was working fine for a good month. Even under load.
Remind me to never buy an MSI again.

Baking was a real thing with the 200 and 400 series cards though, it's not something that strange. It resoldered the cards and made them work again. Had a friend who did it to his GTX 285 twice. After it died the third time, he just bought a new one.

Could go with a mid-range card though just fine. It'll perform the 5-year old one handsomely

Most thermal paste is not conductive, so even if it went out beyond the GPU die, it shouldn't be shorting stuff unless you, by chance, accidentally used conductive paste
RIP. Why did you repaste it in the first place? Thermal issues? Must've been an old GPU anyways, perhaps even worse than some modern integrated graphics
Baking will only fix it if it's an issue with solder on the card, since it'll reflow the solder. If there's actual dead components, it won't fix that. But unless there was smoke or a bad smell, the issue may indeed be a crappy solder joint that can be fixed by baking
