I used to have that, but I only booted into Windows 7 whenever I had to use Internet Explorer. I used it maybe 10 times during 4 years, so when I upgraded my platform from an i7-950 to Ryzen, I just got rid of Windows entirely

In an ideal world, every developer would distribute games using their own website, and DRM-free. No dealing with stupid shitty launchers, dev gets 100% of the profit minus server costs, and no more games being taken down because (((muh policies)))

2 reasons actually.
1. I was hit by the Ryzen segfault error that was part of the first batch, but didn't bother to RMA for a free replacement.
2. the 2700x's performance was not only a lot better, but also only 60% of what I bought the 1700x for originally, so the deal was way too good to just pass up on.

Fair enough. I use botnet 10 on my main workstation, so I never had any issue. And 2nd gen wouldn't help much, since I'd already OC'd to nearly 4.1. I'll get zen2, if anything. If there really is a 16c part for the standard AM4 platform. (And looking at the chiplets on the epyc they showed, 2 of those 8c chiplets would be about as big as a current desktop ryzen die)
I went full autismo on my school-issued laptop though

Why re you taking pictures of your screens and not just screenshots?
>860 packages
Does that even work as a productive system?
And yeah, from their new announcement, each Zen CCX sounds like they're 8-core parts with SMT, so if they release a mainstream part with 2 CCX, which the R7 series were, then you'd get mainstream 16/32 core parts

This was back when I was still setting everything up. Now I'm up to 902 and it does everything I want right now. Might increase in the future though if I need something I don't have. Especially if I decide to try and set up a botnet 10 VM so I don't have to reboot (since I need to use NI multisim, and it's windows only). Will need to install MATLAB, too.
And every one of those chiplets HAS to be 8 cores. You can see 8 dies on the chip they showed. It's 64 cores. So it's 8 cores on a die. The little chiplet die is a single CCX and nothing else, as far as I understand. So there is also an I/O die with stuff like the memory controller. So, a 16 core 2-CCX-chiplet + I/O die on the AM4 socket is entirely technically plausible, as far as I'm concerned. The only hitch I see is the VRM on cheap boards not being good enough for it, so it might be like the FX-9590 where only some boards with good VRMs will support it

The Ryzen 1700 and 2700 both have 2 CCX'es, but each CCX only got 4 cores on those. With the die-shrink to 7nm, each CCX will feature 8 cores, so it's not just a plausibility. It's very likely

It's not just very likely: each one of the little guys on this is 8 cores, confirmed. Each one is mostly likely one CCX. Current gen ryzen is 2CCX in one single die, plus I/O stuff. The zen2 desktop CPUs will most definitely be one of these little guys plus an I/O die (the big boi in the centre, but much smaller since it would physically have less stuff inside. Because less infinity fabric links, less PCIe lanes, etc. Since pic related is zen 2 epyc) 2 of the little guys + the same smaller I/O die for 16 cores is entirely plausible and technically possible

Precisely. It's more likely than not that the Ryzen 7 mainstream series chips will still feature 2 CCX'es, and as a CCX will now consist of 8 cores, then they'll have 16 of those. I think most knew that when they announced Rome

If you look at the image of the desktop CPU they showed today (8 cores), you can see something interesting. Note how the CCX die is the little one in the top right, and the I/O die is the big one on the left. (since it's 14nm while the CCX is 7nm) Looks like there's space for a second CCX die in the bottom left! I'd think that if they weren't intending to put a second CCX there in the future, they would've centred the CCX die instead of having it in the corner. (Think of how on basic model cars there's cutouts for buttons on the dashboard, but there's placeholders there instead of actual button: If I was to guess, AMD's making sngle and dual CCX-die desktop zen2's, and the single CCX-die in the corner is because instead of having 2 seperate packaging lines with seperate tooling, they have a single unified line that can drop either one or 2 CCX-dies onto the interposer (the PCB) using the same tooling)

Yes, we are. Though, I went on a bit of a tangent and explained what I think to be the reasoning behind the renewed hope for a 16core even though an 8core was shown today.

And I'm saying it's 100% technically possible and has in fact been accounted for by AMD in the layout of the chiplets on the interposer. Though, all I can say for certain is they have intentionally left space in order to be able to insert another chiplet on the interposer while using the same tooling. The other chiplet they insert might end up being a GPU (and that's equally as likely as a second CCX-die, since there will be APUs as well)

Yep. That chip could be anything from an engineering sample to show the size of a single core complex, to an R3 and APU even, yep
