The Summertime Saga, as it currently stands, could very well be the fruit of 6 months of work. The fact that it takes so long (if not motivated by bad faith to raise more in the Patreon), can only be explained by an absurd inefficiency of the creators.

0.18 is getting close to wrapping up. I'm done the art and will resume daily streams working on future content for 0.19. Posing and writing are also wrapping up their last tasks. Coding is right behind us and will tackle remaining bugs. The only thing left will be animation. There's a few we're waiting on and as soon as
Extra Jenny content (0.18.5):
We've been talking about adding a few extra scenes to Jenny's story that give extra options in the endgame and debated releasing it in 0.18 or after. Those scenes all require animations (which takes time), so we may not be able to release them in 0.18, so we will release them shortly after in a 18.5 update while we work on Eve's 0.19. That way the team can move onto doing Eve's update while we wait on the animations for it. Once we get them we can release the expanded Jenny ending.
Character improvements:
Attached to this post are some additional character improvement's we've been doing for the past month! We also added them to the new optimised rig system (along with the art improvements!).

This game is shit. But I think it's worth playing for a few more updates.
The possibility of forming a harem with mother, sister, and aunt can bring good fruit, though I'm pretty sure it's going to be rubbish, since threesome scene with mother and aunt is uninspired and boring.
Of course, they are no longer mother, sister and aunt, but at least for me that does not make a difference since I still consider them family.
One thing I think has the potential to kill the game is the pregnancy system. The thing is so bad and frustrating that it is able to make even the least demanding of the players realize that they are facing a low quality product.
When the Dark Cookie starts to put more emphasis on this system and completely ruin the game, then I will never play again, because the game is already bad today without a disastrous feature to make everything even worse.
But there is still some hope because of the possibility of making the three family members become our whores. I'd say there's a 10% chance the game will still be saved.

I remember that one of the slaves who works for Dark Cookie said that the money they get at Patreon is not much for the kind of game they're creating. The post was in the Subrredit "nsfwgames".
I did a quick search on the Lemma forums and things of a higher quality than the Summertime Saga cost about:
Background: $ 50-80
Sprite with 4 facial expressions: $ 70-100
CGs: ~ $ 150-200
Clothes: $35
However, it is possible to find things that, in my opinion, are already better than the art of Dark Cookie for much lower prices, such as pic related.
Results:
- 15 characters with 10 poses each (4 expressions for each pose) = 12k
- 10 sets of different clothes for each character = 5k
- 25 backgrounds = 1.5k
- 150 CGs (a lot!) = 26k
Total: 44k
As far as I know there is no music in Summertime Saga, so we can save money here. And no animations because that takes too long and the result is usually a shit just like the STSaga.
So with 44k you can buy more than enough content for a huge game (~30h) (I put an insane amount of CGs because that's the only thing you can not reuse several times).

I got past the kind of disgusting art style because the game was well made and because there's a significant amount of content, especially if you DON'T use a walkthrough. I got past the initial weirdness of some of the characters purposely looking like they were made of clay and had gastric bypass surgery two years ago and never got the excess skin removed.
I greatly enjoyed the mom's route, the sister's route, Mia and Helen's route, the French teacher's route, the science teacher's route, Ms. Ross' route, and Roxxy's route.
I mostly enjoyed Diane's route (until the cow shit, which I skipped through because, weirdly enough, watching a woman get her tits squeezed like she's a cow to release milk isn't erotic to me, it's just gross looking. The stuff between her and the mom was A+, great shit. Really liked that.
I mostly enjoyed Erik's mom's route until she started getting naked more and I realized her tits looked oversized and malformed and that she was just kind of…nasty looking.
This was the point when the game really started to bug me.
I almost enjoyed Dewitt's route, but her proportions were just wrong to me. I get they wanted the thicc dark-skinned woman, but they should have gone with a smaller, slender darkskin woman. she just put me off.

Not an artfag yet (hopefully), but it looks a lot more flat in my opinion. Not as many lines/color gradients to define the muscle and skin contours, and there's less lighting contrast in her skin. For example look at her jaw and her torso and compare. No line on the left side of her jaw to define a chinline, and the torso looks dry with only the steam changing the color rather than water.

I'm not an artist, but I made a comparison.
The problem is that Dark Cookie literally changed the style of the drawing in the middle of the game.
See, I made a 3D model with more or less realistic proportions, I recreated the same pose and then "drew" on top of it (I can't draw, so ignore the very low quality).
See how old art was much more compatible with more realistic proportions. The thorax, the belly, the base of the breasts, everything was very compatible with the 3D model.
Now compare the new drawing. Note the base of her breasts, see that she has no belly and the upper part of the chest practically starts at the navel lol.
Of course, it's a stylized design so it does not need to have realistic proportions. But the game began with more realistic proportions and the least you would expect is for the artist to keep the same pattern, especially when it comes to the same fucking character.

I think in this case the Dark Cookie is innocent. Most likely what happened is that at some point some "programmer" offered help (probably wanting easy money) and not knowing the language of Renpy, created redundant functions in Python.
I've never looked at the game code, but I can not imagine another way for someone fuck Renpy to the point where save/loads don't work anymore.
What I find curious is that without save/load, it is virtually impossible to test your game (imagine if after every modification, you need to start a new save to see if things are working!) Zero G Academy has good art, but the game is retarded to the extreme. The demo I played did not make the slightest sense, it was super confusing, it did not contextualize anything, it did not present the characters and the worst: it already offered sex with some characters before we players even felt like seeing scenes with then (the alien teacher , for example).
