My favorite memory was simply eating at Molly's Cantina in Memphis, right next to Ardent Studio where they recorded their albums…
Billy is quite the conversationalist, and as we are Mexican food and got drunk as fuck, we discussed the use of sequencers….

92,100 seats, and it was TOTALLY sold out…
there were people trying to sneak in like crazy
I flew my gf Jill in from Atlanta, and we stayed at the Mandalay Bay… A driver took us to the Cotton Bowl, and we got out… It was a MADHOUSE
just then, a siren could be heard, and the backstage entrance gates opened to let an ambulance through …
The ambulance pulled right in front of us and the siren stopped. The back doors opened, and ZZ Top got out…
That was the concert where I first convinced Bill Ham to allow "ZZ Girls" onstage….
We basically reenacted the MTV videos with live girls…
Bill Ham was very very touchy about ANYBODY appearing onstage… Mike Griffin (ZZs Mastermind Attorney) warned me "you might want to think twice before suggesting girls onstage"

Music merchandising icon Ira Sokoloff passed away May 28 due to complications from COVID-19.
Sokoloff passed away at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, NJ. He is survived by his sister Marlene (and husband, Allen) Shaklan; his children: Adam Sokoloff, Shara (and husband, Harry) Cunningham, Ari (and husband, David) Arnone; grandchildren: Jessica (and husband, Tom) Dortch, Samantha, Max, Milly, Oliver, Eva Grace and Levi; nephews: Steven (and wife, Hana) Shaklan and Daniel (and wife, Jennifer) Shaklan and many friends.
As a pioneer and originator of music merchandising, Sokoloff co-founded the Great Southern Company, considered one of the most innovative and successful concert merchandising agencies in the U.S. Over the course of his career, he worked with clients including Billy Joel, Bon Jovi, Cher, Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, INXS, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Mötley Crüe, The Police and ZZ Top.

Hill acquired his bullet wound on Dec. 16, 1984, in an embarrassing mishap that started when his girlfriend went to pull off his boot and his derringer dropped out, discharging in the fall and hitting him in the abdomen. After being checked into Houston's Memorial City Hospital, Hill was attended to by local doctors, who managed to get him "stable, in fair condition" before the bullet had too much time to wreak havoc on his internal organs. According to Houston police, they were initially "unable to talk with Hill about why he was carrying the gun."
