02 Sep - 04 Sep

All are Italian times

FP1: 10 - 11:30

FP2: 14 - 15:30

FP3: 11 - 12

Quali: 14 - 15

Race: 14

Last years podium: HAM, VET, MAS

K-MAG looking touch and go.

Can Nico or anyone break HAM's stronghold on this track?

Can Hulk ever get a podium?

Who will Max crash into and then blame the guy he hit?

This is a track where several teams in the back will be looking to score points, Sauber and Manor being the main protagonists and HAAS will be looking to end their dry streak.

I wonder if they allow public access to the 'remastered' F1 TV archive. Surely not since being 'current year' is all the 2014- formula has going for it over almost every other era.

General Custer and Ron should be corporate autism buddies, tho.

“We were particularly attracted to F1 by the diverse revenue drivers and low-risk business models,” he explained. “There are essentially three core revenue buckets in the business: race promotion, broadcasting and advertising, and sponsorship – each with significant growth potential as we go forward.

“Formula 1 is a key player in the high-growth market for live, premium sports rights. There is an increasing demand from broadcasters, advertisers and sponsors who want access to F1’s mass global live audiences and attractive demographics.”

IIRC WRC does that with WRC+ so maybe they're thinking of following the same path and expanding F1's digital shit.

Anyway, since Bernie is still at the head isn't the change of ownership kinda moot?

Bernie is still CEO of FOM but it sounds like General Custer and others from Liberty are going to be a lot more active on the F1 board than CVC were. Liberty are a media company so ideally they bring that expertise and won't be bleeding the sport dry like CVC was, but in the end of the day everyone is trying to make money.

Considering VR's worst issue is motion sickness as the camera stuck to your eyes move but not your head, doing an F1 lap in VR will probably kill a few people.

But it could mean F1 2017 will have a competitive mode and some sort of e-sport scene that will most likely feel tacked on and forced.

Or, you know, they'll take the rights off Codemasters that finally got good and give them to some french shovelware tier company like WRC did so everyone can be disappointed.

I think they would take on deals with existing digital subscription services (especially the ones of current TV partners) rather than start their own services.

VR stuff is just all the buzz right now so they use it to sell this acquisition to the public and win us over. Though now they have sold the idea so hard I can imagine them work together with a digital service partner to set up 360/3d camera's for a premium fee or something like that.

My hope is that they stop holding onto their brand so vigorously, lowers fees and distribute the license more freely.

He has been generally better this year. Australia they lost because of the red flag and Canada, they could have tried a harder compound but I don't they could have kept HAM behind on the same tyres.

RAI also had his fare share of back luck including being crashed into by his own teammate.

Ferrari threw away those races because they didn't want to take that risk on the harder compounds. You never know until you try and that will stay a what-if.

Also one can hardly blame the Red Bull torpedoing incidents on Vettel, he had the corner on both occasions.

Kvyat did it, Max also wanted to join the "Torpedo a Ferrari" club, both were successful.

We can only assume that Ferrari feel they are not quick enough on the harder tyres. It's not like they haven't had any running on those. It doesn't really matter anyway. 1 or 2 wins is nothing in the grand scheme of things, Ferrari need a sustained challenge for the championship and the current car is nowhere near that.

Hopefully next year they can be a consistent challenger. They drafted in a GT guy for aero, he did great with the 488 gte so hopefully he can have an impact here too.
