People are so full of shit with their "Schumacher had traction/launch control" bullshit.
>Important:
>I'm not saying he had it, or that he didn't have it, but that people's arguments are so fucking retarded.
For example, somehow this video is PROOF that Schumacher had launch control.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYca6E6c3IM
It couldn't possibly be that he just had a good start compared to those around him…
I guess Alonso had launch control in his 2013 Ferrari too:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nq884Re2FIs
Then there's the "Senna stood next to the track and listened to Schumacher's car, and confirmed it had traction control" bullshit.
Senna had already been accusing Schumacher of illegal driver aids publicly, so anything he witnessed was massively affected by confirmation bias.
Furthermore, amazingly despite thousands of people standing at hundreds of corners throughout the year, many of whom had been in motorsport for decades, only Senna had hearing capable of determining if traction control was being used. His hearing was even better than video/audio recording devices!

There is full proof through FIA documents that the car had it.
It's just whether they used it.
IIRC you had to get on a laptop, connect it to the car (standard procedure) and scroll down off the menu until you reached a blank 'option 13' which would engage it. I believe Benetton claimed they only ever used it in testing.

I agree that arguments that senna could hear magical shit is just stupid.
Still if a team was found with launch control (or some setting which was illegal) on the car now and they claimed they never used it outside of testing you have to admit that the FIA would just throw the book at them regardless.

Found it.
In 1974 they used the short layout of Dijon and our old friend Jody took the fastest lap with an exact 1 minute on lap 10.
Lauda stuck it on pole with a 59.79
That was the only time they used the short layout of Dijon

So 470ish HP for Jody in 1974
The horsepower of the 1960 Offenhauser at Indy is harder to nail down.
I'm seeing 450hp claimed "in the early 60's"
So maybe a bit less than that in 1960.

Mardenborough is shit, but he's actually more so a karting kid than he is "le simracer who became a real racing driver". They spun it as if he was some "last starfighter"-esque send up from vidya when he's just a bad karting kid.
A lot of these sim racer types dont know how to go fast in real life and lack the smoothness and technical ability to not suck when in a real car

That is so bad it doesn't even deserve a joke reply. It's actually quite a funny story.
>Judge Lin Meimei found Guo guilty of organizing gambling groups in two rented rooms of a Beijing apartment in 2013. She had been accused of inviting about 10 people to play cards on three occasions in which the stakes exceeded 2 million yuan.
>A partner, Zhao Xiaolai, who was found guilty of managing the operation's gambling accounts, was sentenced on Thursday to two years in prison and fined 20,000 yuan.
If you are wondering why the guy got off less well:
A: This is China
B: She previously forged her identity so it appeared she was a high member of the Chinese Red Cross. She then for some ridiculous reason posted on her social media loads of photos of her in expensive cars and clothing spending lots and lots of money. When people started to accuse her of spending Red Cross money she apologized and said she had no connection with the red cross in any way.
What an idiot.

I'm cautiously excited for TR next year. IIRC Sainz Jr. was worried about them moving backwards as the year goes on due to no PU development but they got through 2015 with an Renault arguably worse than 2014 and still made it to 4th place a couple times.
Hopefully they sneak a podium or two. Of course that'll only happen when both Mercedes and Ferrari drop the ball but Louis and Gimi have clearly forgotten how to drive so there should be space on the podium once in a while.

Also, the pass was also hilarious legal.
In the 1996 CART rulebook, the penalty for cutting the course to make a pass, was a black flag.
But you couldn't be served a black flag on the final lap :^)
The next year the rule book was amended to "black flag or other penalty".

They did actually, but I think it was more to cover their asses over the massive loophole in the rulebook that Zinardi inadvertently found.

as in I can never upload images again unless I use the non-js (no) or switch browsers again (also no), not that anyone would mind because just my text is so scintillating
I watched races for years alone maybe I'll just end up back at that
pic unrelated because I still can, here

not sure if insanity or genius
>Mosley also has an interesting take on what way forward F1 should be taking ahead of January 15.
>"The current problem revolves round engine costs and supply," he explained. "The solution would be rules allowing only two engines per car per season.
>"This would simultaneously double supply and halve costs. Today's engines would require only a modest adjustment to achieve that.
>"The engine suppliers would immediately say it was impossible and would be a disaster, but in the history of F1 there has never once been a case where such predictions have proved accurate".

I don't usually listen to Phill Collins. The rest is basically just Synthpop.
It is a pity that because half the TOTP episodes had a paedophile hosting them, we don't get to see them broadcasted anymore.
TOTP is always great regardless of the year.

As an addendum (for when this post appears hours from now) it looks like AMuS has the scoop on the 2017 changes again. They say the cars look out of proportion but to each their own I guess. The alternative is having the floor stick out far beyond the bodywork. Of course we could employ the radical concept of giving the teams freedom and thus having whatever produces the lowest lap times, however scary that might be for Todt & Co.

It's getting worse. Something is fucked with one of the drives.

I've gone out and bought a second 2TB external hard drive for extra back up (everything already fits on the first one twice over but you can never be too careful Plus this one is portable)

>make GP2 champion and runner-up each year the full 40 points
>now finishing on average 6th in GP2 over 5 years is enough
>average 8th in the yet-finalized F2 is also good enough
meanwhile Will Stevens (22 pts) and Merhi (20 pts) will still qualify by F1 starts
who else is in the frame for Manussia?
>American Hero Alex Rossi has 40 pts but qualifies anyways
>Rio Haryanto has 20 pts
>Pascal Wehrmacht has 45 pts but doesn't have enough Mercedes shekels
>Joe's Award rumors that Magnussen found Danish backing and might return (40 pts besides the F1 starts)
is there an up-to-date source on these #'s? doing it manually isn't fun and it looks like driverdb hasn't been updated with the 2015 championship placings
anyways the FIA is clearly doing their job ensuring that everyone that enters F1 is a mid-twenties pay driver

If you don't like the toned down 8 features present in 10 then 8.1 might be a poor choice
agree with >>32180 to stick with 7

there's more wrong with it than just that.
if you want to go with intel over amd for cpu that's a matter of choice, but if you're not really gaming, the better parallelism of amd's multicore system is better and more bang for the buck.
weird even so. it's like they gave you the meme-est build.
a friend of mine made the mistake of going on reddit and asking them for a build. I looked it as i was going to help him and I concluded that crowdsourcing often produces retarded results.

Swapped case out for a Fractal R5 because I love the design and the door is reversible.
Shoved in an optical drive just so I can keep the old PC intact for emergencies.
Price is now £1144
It's a bit over budget but I really don't care. I just want to hit buy and get this over with because I'm getting that weird feeling again in my stomach.

It's strong enough to jump about nearly 2 inches from my hand straight onto metal.
I'm guessing a good portion of the price of the mouse is actually for that magnet

That's awesome. I used to have these industrial alnico magnets which you could actually palm and use to climb metal surfaces provided that the metal was ferrous and a thick enough gauge.

Plans to speed up 2017 F1 cars watered down after Pirelli concern
tl;dr nobody asked Pirelli if the 2017 regs were realistic and they have found themselves inside a aero-dominated feedback loop trying to find the magic 5 seconds
>more aero = more force on tires
>more force on tires = need higher pressure
>higher pressure = less grip
>less grip = slower lap times
>slower lap times = need more aero
GROUND EFFECT
There is definitely a middle ground to be found between rock tires and cheese tires. Engineer them so that the performance/degradation relationship is more predictable and drivers can choose between driving flat out and nursing the tires. Apparently the current construction won't work for the predicted loads so Pirelli needs more testing anyways.

performance designs always involve tradeoffs (even as simple as fast cheap simple pick one), allowing manufacturers to actually chose their own course of action would solve this at much less cost than todt and co.'s diktat
