Being a #1 driver was actually in his McLaren contract, but they reneged on it in favor of poop senna. And maybe McLaren shouldn't have cheated in the first place? Alonso simply turned the evidence in. A bit of a dick move sure, but hardly that bad. He's not the one that cheated after all.

>From McLaren test driver Pedro de la Rosa to Coughlan on March 21, 2007: "Hi, Mike, do you know the Red Car's Weight Distribution? It would be important for us to know so that we could try it in the simulator. Thanks in advance, Pedro. p.s. I will be in the simulator tomorrow."

>De la Rosa later confirmed that Coughlan replied by text message with precise details of the Ferrari's weight distribution.

>De la Rosa later sent an email to Alonso describing Ferrari's weight distribution, to which Alonso replied on the same day with an email that included a section headed "Ferrari": "Its weight distribution surprises me; I don't know if it's 100% reliable, but at least it draws attention."

>Soon after, De la Rosa emailed Alonso, passing on information from Coughlan about the CO2 Ferrari used in its tires, ending with, "We'll have to try it, it's easy!" Alonso replied that it is "very important" that McLaren give the gas a test.

>De la Rosa emailed Coughlan on April 12: "Hi Mike, I hope you are well. Can you explain, as much as you can, about Ferrari's braking system … Are they adjusting from inside the cockpit?" Coughlan replied two days later with a technical description.

>And an email from one senior McLaren engineer to another: "Is the Ferrari wheelbase an accurate figure? Did it come from photos or our mole?"

>Most damning of all was this email from De la Rosa to Alonso: "All the information from Ferrari is very reliable. It comes from Nigel Stepney, their former chief mechanic — I don't know what post he holds now. He's the same person who told us in Australia that [Ferrari driver] Kimi [Reäikkönen] was stopping in lap 18. He's very friendly with Mike Coughlan, our Chief Designer, and told him that."

Suits him

>A few months ago I was at the Gowran Festival of Speed. I was invited there to put on an Autotesting display to help promote our struggling sport and Freddie Hunt was also in attendance driving his father James Hunt's Hesketh F1 car out on track.

>Another display driver said he would love to have hunt drive his car as he could say Hunt drove the car and it would be good publicity. I talked to Freddie and organised the test drive in the car for the following day.

>The time came for Hunt's run in the car so we invited him over to the test site which was a wide area with more than enough space for an autotest car. The only obstacle was a metal post with a large canopy in the dead centre of the test, which had autotest pylons placed around it to make it even more visible.

>I took a run in my car to show him just exactly what an autotest involved then parked it to the side of the test. Even though Freddie had been told on numerous occasions which car he was driving he walked over to mine and hopped in. The other car was on the other side of the test and a crowd of 1000s had massed to see Freddie drive so I decided to let him drive the car. Possibly the biggest mistake I have ever made.

>I adjusted his seat and then began to give him some advice on how to drive it, i told him to be gentle and not to over-drive the car as despite its looks it is genuinely fast, especially under acceleration, but I didnt see an issue as he had been driving the far more powerful F1 car all weekend.

>As the video shows the second he started he just went flat out, and didn't seem to be watching where he was going. It ended up with him pretty much centering the car on the metal past and accelerated straight into it, destroying the front end of the car.

>To say I was devastated isn't the word. An autotest car is not like other race cars, you don't build it, use it up, crash it and build another one. My mini is the first car I owned, I got it when I was 17 and it has been upgraded as we could afford it through the years to the point where without exaggeration it was the best FWD autotest car anywhere. It may seem silly but I've grown very attached to it in that time.

>Freddie found me trying to cool down and promised numerous times that he would pay for any damage he caused, I asked for contact details but he would only give me the name of his facebook page.

>The car was sent up to the mechanic and work started the next week. As it turned out Freddie had damaged the gearbox, subframe, suspension, steering and worst of all twisted the entire chassis of the car. I'm not going to say the total cost on here but it is a very substantial bill.

>Now I come to the biggest problem, as soon as my mechanic had an idea of the total cost he did up an estimate and sent it down to me. I sent this on to Freddie so I could arrange a transfer of funds as the work was being undertaken because he had taken on to pay. It took a week for me to get a reply, he wouldn't get back to me on his personal page.

>I got was this statement from his Official Public Page:

>Hi Guy,

>Unfortunately the event's insurance won't cover this as I hoped they would. And I am sorry to say that I physically don't have the money to pay for it. I'm extremely sorry about this but there's not a lot I can do about it. I can assure u that in the future when I'm making good money I can pay u back. And in the mean time if I can help u in anyway with your business I am more than willing.

>All the best,

>Freddie

>I have contacted him since but that was the only correspondence he sent me. He had never mentioned insurance at the event, I don't see why insurance would cover something that was so blatantly driver error.

>Now I know I can not comment on his financial situation because I just dont know but here are a few facts. The week before the event Freddie bought a mint condition Triumph GTV 6 sports car, in the weeks following he, commissioned a series of paintings and traveled to Holland to drive an F1 car, and last weekend he was in America racing a Maserati in the Pirelli World Challenge.

>I didnt want it to come to this but as I have no way of contacting him other than Facebook and he wont reply I feel I have to. Please share this around if you think its worthy of it, even if it doesn't get him to pay as he promised to at least people and possible sponsors will know just what sort of a person they are dealing with.

That whole thing is being sorted out.

>I am responding to Guy Foster’s harmful, inaccurate and nonfactual claims he made with reference to the mini crash at Gowran Festival of Speed. The video is clear to see, I crash the car through driver error, however, what the video and Mr Fosters claims don’t show is that I was attending the festival in a professional capacity helping promote the event and was asked to drive an Autotest car by Mr Foster himself and the organises repeatedly, of which I was merely obliging to them and the spectators watching.

>Further to this, the video and Mr Foster’s claims, give the impression that I recklessly took the car without permission. Again this is incorrect, I drove it with the full consent of him and the event organisers. Perhaps the most disappointing thing to come from this incident is the response, abusive and in some cases threatening posts, messages, private messages, tweets and emails I have been receiving over the past 36 hours from individuals who are reacting to a video and one sided claim posted by an individual who in many cases they don’t know and in all cases provided inaccurate and embellished claims. The old saying is true, don’t believe everything you read.

>I am posting this response only now because I wanted to monitor the situation and answer once I had all the relevant facts and not because I was going to be bullied into a reaction by a reckless individual. What the public do not see is that currently I am trying to rectify the situation with Mr Foster privately and in a professional manner. Most of you believe that me, the son of the great James Hunt, to be a very wealthy man. Those who know me, know this is not true.

>When my father died he was in large amounts of debt. If you care to watch the various films and documentaries or read his autobiography you will see this. Most of you see the Facebook posts of me flying around the world for various different racing events. These flights are all paid by the event organisers and most of the driving I have done in my career has been unpaid. I am a man of my word and my honesty is the most important thing to me. I told Mr Foster that I will pay him and I meant it.

>This will be the last I will say on the matter and will not respond further. Rest assured I am working behind the scenes to rectify this situation with Mr Foster and would ask you all to appreciate the information you have been fed and are likely to be fed as a result of this response, will be inaccurate and nonfactual. This statement will be kept up for 48 hours before I take it down. Freddie

No it hasn't.

People just want to side with Hunt.

>Foster:

Hunt's excuses are:

>I am trying to rectify the situation with Mr Foster

>I told Mr Foster that I will pay him and I meant it

Hunt doesn't have the money, and he won't get it any time soon.

Hunt was trying to ignore the guy wanting his money now, so the guy he went public.

Hunt seems to think it's ok because he's going to pay him back when he can eventually afford it.

What would your reaction be, if someone crashed your car (or into your road car), and the only reply before they ignored you was:

>"I can assure u that in the future when I'm making good money I can pay u back"
