 No.195881 [View All]

This is by no means comprehensive, and I invite everyone to make further suggestions. Before we get started, I want to make it clear that this is not by any means an invitation to raid a site or 'take it over'. Not all sites and not all mediums of play are created equal and some foster unfortunate amounts of shitters, autists, normalfags, and other brands of stupid, but let's not destroy whole sites on our own justice, yeah?

Furthermore, the primary goal here is to escape F-list. This isn't an indictment of F-list itself, which has some useful features, it's more of a desire to spread out and get away from the overpopulation. I'll be describing the various Sites with the following criteria:

>Is Erotic Roleplay technically allowed?

In short, how much wolf-whistling and sneaky shit do you have to do to actually play there. Ideally we're looking for "Allowed", but "Not prosecuted unless reported in PM play" is also admissable.

>How useful is the site?

Clunky, badly-designed forums can still have merit, but ideally one seeks to have similar or better usefulness to F-list.

>Profile or Request Thread

Primary drivers of play. On F-list and some other sites, one builds a profile, often around a single character and perhaps situations for that character to inhabit or participate in, on some others, you construct a thread describing preferences and desired situations instead. It's not far apart, but it should be noted that Request Threads are, in fact, threads on a forum - therefore on many middling to low-pop sites, everyone gets a decent amount of exposure.

>Signing up

What's the process?

>Administration, Poz, and cliquedom

How much does one have to toe political lines in out-of-character sections? Are there users or players who weild admin/mod powers and thus should be tread around lightly? Is there a cult of persona, or overly popular users who could weild such power? Inherently, of course, a negative in almost all cases and almost always a dealbreaker. If you know of such instances in a posted site, point them out, but remain concise and to the point.

WE ARE HERE TO CATALOGUE AVENUES OF PLAY, NOT TO RAID OR DESTROY

I started on Omegle, moved to elliquiy, moved to Blue Moon because they allow 16+ teen sex, (elliquiy is 18+), and then went to F-List after I learned it was more than a website to keep kink lists. F-List gave better results immediately, but the density and quality of my plays is less than what I got at both. There seems to be a compromise between fetish acceptance and writing ability.

You're doing God's work, OP. Outstanding

Used to play on Chatango in the past. It's not great, but it's at least usable.

>Is Erotic Roleplay technically allowed?

No, but you won't get permabanned for it. At worst, you might be put into limbo where you can't talk to most people, but even that's just a temporary punishment. Reports are automated.

>How useful is the site?

Obviously not designed for roleplay of any sort, but it works surprisingly well. You have two profile fields: One that shows up in the member search as well as the full profile. People tend towards listing their fetishes in this first field so that they can be searched for.

The second field only shows up if somebody opts to view your full profile, has a character limit of somewhere around 30k, and you have full HTML and CSS controls. There are user-made profile widgets which allow you to do things such as see who has viewed your profile.

You may add people as friends. This is a one-way operation that allows you to privately bookmark a character, but if you're "banned" you can't PM anybody who doesn't have you as a friend. They can PM you, though.

If you're anal about prime names you can buy usernames, either from the site itself (they have to have been offline for roughly a year) or from its users.

>Profile or Request Thread

You can search through all accounts on the service (as far as I remember, it generally favors newly created ones) and there may exist privately-run chats which you could use to find play.

>Administration, Poz, and cliquedom

Outside of privately-run chats there's no larger community at all. If you aren't in a privately-run chat, all interactions are exclusively one-on-one.

Another double feature today. Black Dahlia and… another site. We'll get there, don't worry.

Black Dahlia can be found here:

https://blackdahliaroleplaying.com/index.php

>ERP?

Yes, but only a secondary focus. The site is built as an alternative, itself, to another site we will speak of later.

>Usefulness?

Fairly decent. You don't need to F5 as near as I can tell for the tab to ping a (1) to let you know you have a reply. PMs are styled as private threads that can include multiple people. Threads can have tags visible on the forum page, so you can quickly scan requests. Overall, not bad.

>Profile or Request Thread

The latter, but I think you can customize your personal info to turn it into a sort of profile in and of itself. Bump limits that are present on Blue Moon also apply here but are slightly different (Twice a week only or on major edits). Request Threads are seperated into gendered sections, again much like Blue Moon.

Email verify.

Doesn't seem to be too bad. However, tread a bit lightly, because it's spawned from the other place I'm going to talk about: Gaia Online.

 No.196480

>>196479

Let's talk about the site most people (Many rightfully so) see as bottom-of-the-barrel: GaiaOnline. Found here: https://www.gaiaonline.com/

>ERP?

Gaia Online does not, explicitly, allow for public ERP and technically does not allow it in PM. However, unless your partner reports you, you can do essentially whatever you prefer. A large amount of dog-whistling and careful skirting of the rules is required for an experience here and a mis-step can result in a suspension or a ban. However, bizarrely, Gaia's primary user base is essentially split between 13-16 year old normalfags and older longtime users, some of whom have some decent chops. If F-list is trying to fish treasure from the sewage of a perfect, golden city, GaiaOnline is trying to do the same thing at Detroit. Sometimes you will get something of value and worth, but this is not a play-within-an-hour site when it comes to ERP.

>Usefulness?

Somewhat old, a lot of the software is like a bunch of rickety boards duct-taped together with some nails crookedly banged in with little regard for architecture. What works is servicable - avoid Guilds like a fucking plague. If you decide to engage with the game side of the site, fucking avoid the older flash games, many of them haven't been updated since they were made.

>Profile or Request Thread

RTs and in a single board without bump limits (except that you need to fall off the front page first.) which results in the sort of environment that I'm almost certain BM, Black Dahlia, Elliquy strive to avoid. You can make a profile in your personal profile space, but it likely won't even be seen.

>Signing up

Email Verify, as usual.

>A/P/C

If you come here to roleplay, just ignore the rest of the site. You don't need to touch the discussion sections of the site, which are unsurprisingly normalfag central. Oddly, since the site relies on selling outfits for your avatar for real money, the avatars can get hilariously lewd for pixel art, but for fuck's sake do not touch the goddamn extended discussion. There are no users that are also mods (thank fucking god) but one would be well-advised to tread as lightly as if one were on facebook outside of RP.

>But why?

Because it has an RP component of the site and it's possible to ERP in secret. I'm assuming that most of what I've said can apply to the Neopets forums, as well.

I haven't looked into mediums as of yet. While a roleplay site can itself be a medium, there are many mediums that aren't sites. Skype, Discord, IRC, AIM (Does it even work anymore?), MSN, Facebook Messenger, are some examples.

When I do look into these it will be with different eye. IRC has many strengths, but it depends a lot on the client you use to access it. Skype can be iffy and clunky but otherwise useful. Discord has issues we all know of and is often a dealbreaker. And so on. The main problem with these mediums is a lack of a main driver of play (like profiles or request threads) without the medium being attatched to a site (Such as F-chat). This makes it a little harder to judge them, in my mind.

But if you can find play in IRC, it's definitely a contender. Might want to try and find out the character limits for both your and your partner's client, though, or you might lose bits of posts.

Roleplay.me, Roleplayer.me and Aniroleplay.com are all managed by the same crowd. Profiles geared towards erotic roleplay are generally banned unless you're really subtle about it. The only difference between these three is the userbase.

>roleplay.me

12-16 year-olds (mentally or not) that can barely put a sentence together. You won't find anything good there. At all.

>roleplayer.me

Tumblr/Twitter roleplayers, mostly. /erp/ is highly unlikely, but it happens. Mostly only normal stuff, though, and worst genders are near impossible to find. Everyone there plays characters from TV shows, celebrities, Marvel/DC comics or their shitty OCs.

>aniroleplay.com

It's the same as roleplayer.me, but for animated faceclaims. There's a lot of erp going on under the blankets, even if it's strictly forbidden by the staff, including freakier shit you'd find on f-list. People are generally bad or mediocre, but you can find some good gems if you're lucky. Cringy players in general; the ones that get an ego high out of winning combat scenes exist in great number there.

RPC is an entirely different case. I could force a little and say it's the middle term between ani/roleplayer.me and f-list because of the overall kinks and interests. Erotic roleplay isn't forbidden, but it's normally contained within three single rooms.

I'm an old-timer there and I recommend you to skid away. It used to be my favorite place in the past, but now it's filled with garbage writers and xD memelords who only shitpost and talk about trendy games. You'll find maybe four to five good players there and chances are most of them will be the same in different profiles.

Here's a somewhat unknown one. Far as I can tell, it was originally created for Homestuck roleplay. Now it branches much farther.

https://www.cherubplay.co.uk

>Is Erotic Roleplay technically allowed?

90% of roleplay there is erotic, and people will generally state if they're not looking for anything sexual. Ads can have tags associated with them, and you can blacklist certain tags so that the ads featuring them don't appear, as well as look them up.

>How useful is the site?

It's got a unique design. Basically, you get a chat thread where you and your partner are both kept Anonymous. You can end or leave the chat thread at any time, which ensures a situation of minimal drama or clique-ness. Unfortunately, this means that people are free to drop you without explanation or recourse, and you may never know why. The site itself is simple, but requires some getting used to.

>Profile or Request Thread

You post ads, either in the form of, well.. an ad, or a specific prompt. Fandom and OC play are both popular, and I see plenty of people linking F-List profiles as a shorthand for kinks or character.

>Signing up

It's been a while, but far as I remember, you just sign up. Nobody but you can see your username, anyways.

>Administration, Poz, and cliquedom

The site is structured to maintain anonymity, so it lacks these things. Unfortunately, this also means that it lacks the chat or OoC elements of F-List or other sites unless you chat with your partners one-on-one.

Almost no one on Gaia Online will ever admit to being underage right away. Hell, I was still below 18 the first time I started ERPing and none of my partners knew.

Incidentally, and slightly related to this topic, back when it was still go-gaia there was a fairly large group of pro-pedo posters on the site who would routinely run into trouble with the mods as they preached their pedo apologia and would recruit and groom younger members of the community off-site via AIM and MSN to cam with and defend them and their creepy fucking message.

If you're looking for ERP, it's probably smart to just stay the fuck off of gaia because you're most likely just going to get a lot of thirteen year old kids pretending to be eighteen, or a lot of forty year olds pretending to be thirteen years old pretending to be eighteen so they can scam nudes out of the first group.

Alright, let's talk about RP mediums. I'll be trying to do these one a post.

>IRC

IRC, or Internet Relay Chat, is a fucking ancient chat protocol that's been with us since… Just after usenet? My history isn't so great, but the point is that IRC has been around for a very long time. It tends to be highly reliable, but a lot of that depends on your client. The bare bones is that you can privately chat with other people, which can be used for ERP, of course, but you can very easily create rooms by joining one that doesn't exist, usually like this: /join #whateverthefuckyouwanttocallit. You can also make bots, register channels for some other useful features, and so on. It would not shock me if there was a channel for erp, or even for /erp/ itself. I've been to a few. I doubt they're still alive since that was years ago.

Archiving is a bit of a problem, however. If you're the sort to like to save RPs and refer back to them later, you'll probably want a different service, as chat logs are often not saved by default and are simply erased by many clients upon closing them or leaving. You could copypaste them into a notepad or similar, however, but you can do that anywhere.

Furthermore, most clients have a character limit that isn't shown or mentioned anywhere. Some clients have different limits of display and entry, leading to partner responses being cut off. Keep this in mind if you want longer RP.

However, if you're looking for group play and especially with dicerolling, IRC's not a bad medium to use.

Dream Realms Roleplaying is a pretty decent site. The community seems nice and the staff actually work hard to make sure the website runs smoothly. There are different themes available if you dislike the main theme (I find it jarring). You can find all kinds of content and using request threads works well. No underage stuff is allowed, but most other things are fine. This is my preferred roleplaying site.

http://www.furrymuck.com/

>Is Erotic Roleplay technically allowed?

It's allowed in adult areas, and is almost never prosecuted in normal areas, despite not being allowed in normal areas.

>How useful is the site?

Very. It supplies a concrete world for your characters, their homes, and their items to exist in, while being pretty flexible. You can spoof all those if you wish. Or you can treat it as a virtual reality server, which it is. While I've never used Second Life or VRChat, some people have favorably compared MUCKs with them.

>Profile or Request Thread

Character. You build a character, and to advertise, you enerally you just begin slice-of-life IC stuff in a public area. You can be more OOC and blunt if you want, but many players prefer some semblance of realism. Depends on the player.

>Signing up

Unfortunately a bit medieval. You have to sign up via email, and you have to give them the same fake name your email address reports. If you've told Google (if you use gmail) your real name is Dave Halbert, you're gonna have to tell FurryMUCK your real name is Dave Halbert. Same for any email provider.

You specifically have to note you want an adult account, unless you don't. (keyword: @age bit)

>Administration, Poz, and cliquedom

The administration basically doesn't exist. They're online, but they no longer care about the MUCK. Fortunately a lot of users still care, so the MUCK keeps surviving. Fortunately this also means I've never seen a ban.

>toe political lines

Unnecessary. You can have any ideology and only have the usual personal consequences.

>Is there a cult of persona, or overly popular users who could weild such power?

Not really, though people who own rooms can ban you from their parts of the universe. This shouldn't be anything surprising.

>cliquedom

There's almost none, but still some.

https://www.fur.com/tapestries/wiki/Tapestries_MUCK

>Is Erotic Roleplay technically allowed?

Taps is explicitly meant for lewds. It's also supposed to be BDSM-friendly, but that depends on the area you're on.

>How useful is the site?

As useful as FurryMUCK, but with more features related to lewd roleplay. Some worldbuilding tools have been crippled, however. For both MUCKs, there's gonna be a learning curve for you, as the commands are closer to interactive fiction or text adventures than to IRC or F-list. It also has a more-developed IC universe, though many people ignore it.

It has a larger number of good roleplayers than FurryMUCK does.

>Profile or Request Thread

Same as for FurryMUCK, except you can be bluntly lewd IC or OOC if you so wish. Read the atmosphere of the room first, though.

>Signing up

A very easy webform. Must use an email you can get a confirmation message with. Not a short-term one either, as the response might not be immediate.

>Administration, Poz, and cliquedom

The wizzes (wizards, admins) are never online, and are nonresponsive. However, they're online with their secret alt accounts, so you should be wary: they do occasionally enforce rules or ban people they dislike. Of note is that one of the wizards has been confirmed to read private logs and PMs for fun.

>cliquedom

Far more cliquey than FurryMUCK is. But there are a couple areas which are quite anti-clique and therefore very helpful for integrating.

>politics

You can have any political opinion, with the exception that one wizard warned someone for a PM discussion of armed revolution, or something like that.

You also can't discuss politics in the spawn point of the MUCK, Fox Plaza, but can discuss it anywhere else. This is fine, since Fox Plaza is already shit and should be avoided. Similarly, I recommend avoiding The Park on FurryMUCK.

There are also other MUCKs which are far better then FM or Taps, but I don't know them well enough to describe them here. FM and Taps both are the most popular in terms of population count, though.

You can find RP channels on anthrochat and furnet, though I find IRC to be mediocre for roleplay, unless you're willing to link your f-list profile (or equivalent, if you're avoiding f-list entirely) early and often to people who talk with you. There's no way to describe your character or make a profile.

I do like using IRC to roleplay with people I already know, but that's different.

As the post after yours said, try to find a client which automatically splits long lines to avoid character limits.

I've been do it for a few weeks now and>>276353 has the right of it on the describe your character aspect. If I name my character a certain way (ex:distresseddamsel), it would give a pretty good example of what I want, but usually you'll attract midaged/old men anyways who want to push they're own agenda. ("Hai damsel! Want to roleplay killing me?")

It's not great, but you might find a rare gem or two. #roleplaysex #jackinchat

Btw, that "Killing me thing" just happened to me an hour ago.

It doesn't matter how we feel about something that's dying or dead.

>Litphoria

I've never used it but it looks pretty good. I should make an account there this month.

Is there a good place for me to go for expansion RPs, or just to avoid furries? I'm fine with monster girls but 99% of that stuff on F-list is just gross.

You'll just have to learn to share the playground with the other weirdos that happen to like expansion and/or non-expansion fetishes. There's literally no place that would keep out furries while still allowing other weird crap.

I share your distaste for furries, but expansion is equally weird while still maintaining a degree of social stigma. Every f-chat room I've lurked in has been "fur shit snuggle posting" or "exclusive long form role play between a small group of lesbians". Occasionally I'll see discussions on topics I care about, but most of the time everyone talks about weeb shit I know nothing about. I don't care for monster girls, either. I love the way f-list is set up. I've had my best role plays on that site. But lately I can't seem to find anything that grabs my attention. It's like the older I get the gayer everything becomes. I would like less gay, please.

Chatango used to be really fun but it's gone completely shit in the past year. I think we're at the 10th month where the 'Meet People' function hasn't been available to web users (without paying) and only been available to mobile users (where certain search terms are banned). The mobile app hasn't been updated since Jan 2017 and I feel the website hasn't been touched by admins since then either, the automated bans/mutes and Meet People being dead for almost a year seem to confirm that. I'd love to know if the owners got into serious shit or something, I have a lot of fond memories of that site.

Has anyone met a single person from roleplay.chat who can actually write anything worth reading? It seems like CCOOC but the whole website, nothing but overdesigned profiles and shitposting.
