So, I need help finding a site for ERP that I remember from a year or so ago. It was a browser based thing with kind of an amateurish layout; didn't have ads, made money from people donating to the owner's PayPal for the privilege of using special avatars and stuff like that. Everyone had their own page where they posted information about their character, which was all in HTML format. If this helps jog anyone's memory: it was always a bitch to get into the two or three most popular rooms. They was a limit to how many people could join (99 I think?) and ignoring that limit was one of the things you could pay for.
It was the least cancerous ERP site I ever knew, and now I can't find it.

It's usually full of cybering, one-lining first person posters, and people who require nude exchanges. It's the kinda folk that only "roleplays" with IRL genders of their liking. In the "ads" sections, the most common sight is "looking for female sub" with nothing more attached. More than two sentences is considered a long post. People don't punctuate and use newlines as periods and commas. The rudimentary profile systems these servers have usually only see edgy OCs with every trope under the sun, character descriptions are in most cases 2 lines or less.
I'd rather RP with someone like Jamiko than any of this lot, though I must admit that it's fun to watch.
Of course, I'm talking big public ERP servers. There might actually be good smaller ones out there.

it's what happens when you deal with a crowd of possibly mentally handicapped misfits with huge entitlement/delusion problems. you learn to say 'no' in harder and harder ways. rpc's average user is nowhere as self-aware or willing to improve (without throwing a toddler tantrum) as the users of, well, most other places.
that and just, as the other rpc anon said, the 16 y/o grungy internet teen mentality that is 100% sure the paragon of coolness is in the shape of a bitchy tumblr girl with painted hair, a resting bitch face, a daddy kink and an eye-rolling obsession.
i know it's tempting to try new places because of f-list's towers of garbage, but unless you shoehorn yourself into a tabletop group or anything more exclusive, it's by far the best place to hang out on for this hobby at the current moment. maybe behind dreamwidth/jcink, but the former is composed by autismal knights who make roleplaying a second job, and the latter invariably requires an application formulary.
