So are MMOs just shit for ERP?
They seem so attractive and naturally fitting because each player has concrete visuals and atmosphere to work with, as well as things to do with each other outside of the ERP.
But whenever I actually look into it, it's not only sparse but also tremendously cliquey, and the only dicks are futa dicks.
In light of all the laughing and hand-wringing about what a cancer it is upon MMOs, it seems awfully nonexistent for a cancer.

Yeah, MMOs are shit for ERP these days. It's no fault of the developers - some give a firm push for it since it used to be in high demand - it's the shitty communities brought on by the "LOL so randumb xD" culture that's only spurred on by tumblr and reddit along with the constant and desperate bid for attention.
The MMO hook-up thread we have on this board is mainly focused on Final Fantasy recently since it's the most animu-styled one out there but it's also flooded by the same problems stated above.
You just gotta set up a foundation yourself with strict ground rules and impartial moderation that avoid a clique-y nature. Be the change you want to be, and all that.

Nope, they're great if you bring a partner along who is willing to get into the hours of teasing whilst you play, eventually succumbing to arousal and fucking on thr corpse of thr last boss of BRD before making her kill herself in the lava.
10/10. Would do again.

Roleplay in WoW died in 2013 when there was an exodus from Earthen Ring to Wyrmrest Accord. As far as I can tell other communities started dying at around the same time.
EVE roleplay has had its golden age and it's completely died now.

As someone who has played on MG since it was added and then WrA from its addition, I can say that's pretty bogus, as both servers have changed little from inception other than MG is heavily Alliance focused (and all military guilds) and WrA is heavily Horde focused (and all orc military guilds or elf house guilds)

Yeah, and they're fucking dogshit. There is nothing good about WrA or MG and Earthen Ring was the peak of roleplay before it died.

MG US pretty good back in WotLK days. Continuous cycle of people looking for straight ERP. Had some fun slave swapping and having pets do dungeon crawls only to bone after we were done. It's gone to shit since. Too many herm players in the futa corner and G.I.R.L.s looking for WoW token handouts.

My issue is that every MMO that's not fucking wow is just abysmal for erp because the chat and social systems are borderline non-functional or clearly made for filthy weebs and/or a console.
Guild Wars
SWTOR
Wildstar
Black desert
Neverwinter
these at least from my experience are just BAD. Tracking partners and communicating is a nightmare. You cannot separate whispers from more then one source, you cannot reply without a manual command or there's a global chat system that can't be escaped or disabled

I've started ERPing on WoW, about 4 or so years ago. I enjoy roleplaying in MMOs because I like walk up roleplay, but now-a-days, it seems walk up is just impossible, unless you're playing a lesbian female / futa.
To me, it's not the quality of the RPs that is the problem, since I'm more than happy to carry an ERP, provided the partner shows interest, but the ratio of female to male characters. Don't get me wrong, I'm a part of the problem; I've started RPing as a female character because, back in the day, there were actually too many males looking for females to play with, and so instead of becoming one of them, I decided to just roll a female and play with them, which went so wonderfully that now it just feels wrong playing anything else.
So yeah, it's not the lack of quality that bothers me, to be honest, it's that dick has become a rare commodity, ironically enough. I've thought about switching around and playing males, but I think I'd lose a lot of confidence because male characters have to try 20 times as hard, and I'm not used to them (not to mention most females are looking for lesbo RP, so yeah…)
>Just find a guild
But that's the thing, the reason I don't like guilds for RP is because I enjoy walk up, and I think this is where MMOs shine. I enjoy meeting, and playing with, different people.

MMO's are great for ERP, barring any chat window problems. The people are the problem. Cliquey is putting it mildly. It's like the cliques ensure a kind of shallowness that makes people feel safe. It's weird. People can't seem to just do lewd things and play the game. Either they want to talk about real life too much, want to do write serious stories for serious people like themselves, or they have a weird obsession with making it so casual it gets boring. The culture needs to develop a kind of second life mentality, where there's a barrier not between character and person, but between the avatar logged into the game and the person behind the screen.

The entirety of the internet needs to get on this shit. Holy fuck. F-List, MMOs, fucking anything that has you assuming a digital avatar needs to get this fucking message.

Regardless of the actual state of ERP and such in MMO's, its something I've been more interested getting back into again lately since I've started playing WoW again a bunch more, both on retail and on a private Vanilla server. Would also be interested in leveling up a fresh character on BDO and doing some long term, ERP shenanigans if anyone would be interested in any case.
But yeah, speaking from experience in recent weeks on WoW, walk up for the most part seems like a thing of the past both for regular and ERP. Guild based RP seems much larger than I ever remember it being before though.
Also, just for anyone who might be interested, all about playing females, or at least things feminine in nature. Biggest idea I have for BDO at that would more or less involve becoming a doting housewife in some fashion, whether through a bit of initial force/dub con, or simply consensual through and through. Either way, expect a fairly heavy level of depravity regardless of how things actually start initially and such. Also up for giving ESO a shot as its a game I've never quite played before, but have owned for a loooooong time now.

>Virgin-Bane: Convince someone who doesn't ERP to give it a try with someone on the horde - 50 points
Just a heads up but you may want to be wordier or alter this slightly. It could imply you're encouraging people to approach random players on WoW to convince them to ERP which could be problematic considering the number of underaged players.
