The TLDR for monster hunter is it's a world full of big ass monsters. Hunters go kill them make weapons and armors out of them, kill bigger stuff, rinse and repeat. There is no real overarching plot. Each game generally has Village X invaded by monster Y, Z A, B and C. So go kill them in order of difficulty.
Tech level is an odd mixture of high fantasy and a more barbarian/bone/organic look to stuff because of making weapons and armor out of them.
monster are fucking huge, but just like everything else there are 'monster girl' versions with pictures and art. A little caution on like boorus or TBIB fair bit of 'furry' versions of them too.

I hope I'm not odd in that I mostly enjoy the idea of two human hunters fucking. I mean, I like some of the monsters too, but the humans would always be my favorite because of all the communications.
I mainly fantasize about playing as a trainee hunter girl accompanying an older, more experienced male trainer on a relatively basic hunt. They end up camping out and fucking, preferably via dubcon or noncon.
