I haven't finished writing any smut in so long. I always get distracted before finishing a story and never end up going back. If I don't finish a story in one sitting, or at least a chapter of some kind, I find it really hard to get back into the exact mindset I had when I started writing.

Just to be clear, I don't erp or anything but I do come to this board every so often, being as it is that this is the most active text-related lewds place I know of. I've written some very questionable quality extremely short stories on a whim before but beyond that I've little experience with actually doing the writing. What I have done, quite a lot actually, is come up with ideas and setups, summaries of those I imagine. I do plan to actually write as many of these as I can out to full stories, and hopefully improve in the process, but that's a matter of mustering up the will to get started. In the meantime I thought I should ask here, what would be the best place to put up such things?

I've always just shoved everything onto pastebin. Larger pieces could go on fanfiction sites, but I've never had a problem with just putting them up as a plain text on a single account where everyone can easily find them. Plenty of 'chan-related smut artists do just that.

Or you can always just post them here directly if it's related, though then it might get lost to the ages.

Eh, calling those games a CHYOA is a misnomer, if not completely misleading.

As far as I can tell the stories don't branch. the anonkun/fiction.live games are like twitch plays pokemon with a DM instead of a fixed game. (or like problem sleuth and early homestuck as I understand them.)

I've followed a couple that are fun to read, maybe I should catch up so I can join the fun. My favorite RN is "Wicked Witch Quest."

All I've got is a fairly vanilla smut story between a dickgirl daughter and her irresponsible mother that I wrote over five years ago and posted somewhere. I'd be cringing to look at it now, much less take credit for it. People said they enjoyed it back then, though, for what it's worth.

That said, I haven't written by or for myself just about ever since, and I'd really like to find the motivation and time to. A good way to do that would probably be taking requests, but for anyone to make any you'd need to have samples, and that is yet again a motivation problem. :v

I do want to write more vanilla smut, but I'm also interested in exploring the fucked up things like guro and whatnot.

You can, and some people do, but it's not advisable.

For obvious reasons, most people find that kind of stuff abhorrent (and I'm speaking as someone who plays as underage characters) and will report it and report you UNLESS you keep yourself to within very small circles of people who appreciate your work.

The story that's bouncing around in my head is an obstenantly generic fantasy epic about displaced twin prince and princess who are raised as commoners, come into their own, find each other, learn their origins, and then go on an epic journey to rebuild their kingdom. The primary fetishes are incest, harem, size play, and maybe some age play, too. I'm setting it up like the world's sexiest D&D campaign, though the player characters are an annoyingly perfect hybrid of dragons, elves, and celestials in the form of absurdly attractive humans with white hair, tan skin, and purple eyes. I'm looking to make it light hearted and fun, with lengthy lore dumps and non-erotic scenes to set the pace. Plenty of action and combat, too. Think of it as a D&D novel with the smut and author appeal cranked up to 11.

You don't necessarily need artistic abilities to run a Quest. Most of the Quests on Akun, now fiction.live, are just with stolen art for visual flair.

Well, art can be helpful when you're doing something more abstract or escaping from the kinds of tropey stuff you can easily visualize. Doing a fantasy quest with Goblins or Dragons can be easier to lean heavily on words, but if everything looks like a HR Giger wet dream, you might need some pictures to help paint the picture.

Mind you moving too far into weirdo creativity will limit your audience when you're writing Quests.

They may not require art, and I'll agree that quests are not traditionally a visual medium, but there's a reason that artists are hired onto production teams. Both words and pictures are used to express concepts (obviously), but brevity is the soul of wit. A single, well-rendered image can expound upon thousands of intricate details and alien forms. Imagine only reading about Giger's titular 'Alien' without his incredible industrial design work being showcased. It'd be completely inadequate. Hell, take Lovecraft's description of Cthulhu:

>"A monster of vaguely anthropoid outline, but with an octopus-like head whose face was a mass of feelers, a scaly, rubbery-looking body, prodigious claws on hind and fore feet, and long, narrow wings behind."

It sounds almost utterly mundane. Almost like a fuckin' OC donut steel ripoff of Davy Jones from Pirates of the Carribean with wings. We know there's a gargantuan difference between them because of the common artistic representation. Lovecraft's verbiage may have helped to distinguish it from anything vaguely humanoid, but representational art gives a shared idea of the subject. Different minds may have different interpretations of concepts, but art helps to give a shared idea of the subject and situation.

I shouldn't have to tell you how potentially useful that is in a given Quest that might be focused around things that might be bizarre and alien to the audience's minds.

if your monster sounds absurd when described, then it is either absurd or you are describing it poorly and you need to rethink your writing and your scene.

if you have a monster with a lot of confusing traits, reveal it slowly so you don't have to dump all the info on people at once.

if it's critical for everyone to be on the same page with the design you have in mind, then simplify your designs.

work with what you have. if you don't have art, work around that.
