Nice, a stalker thread. I´ve been playing a new run of Call of Chernobyl, started as Clear Sky and arrived at the NPP, going through all the areas in the zone. It was very fun.

It's a mod for Call of Pripyat, so the gameplay is like that game.

You can start a new character in any faction that you want to play in, even bandits the military or Monolith, and just roam around the zone stalkan. It also has a story mode that more or less follows the events of Shadow of Chernobyl. The best thing is that this mod gives you access to ALL sections of the zone. Also each faction will obviously give you a different starting location.

do as you wish but i have a few reccomendations;

anomaly or last day is amazing for veterans who just returned, anomaly has the war mod + arsenal overhaul so its amazing

i mostly play mercs for the singular fact that i can roam around just like loners, kill everyone like bandits, enforce and take up jobs like duty and freedom, and form bases/checkpoints and have control over certain areas just like the ecos/clear sky/military all the while you make heaps of cash

mercs are truly the ultimate stalkers

plus they look the best

I always sided with Freedumb and this would be fun to have an all out war with them once again. I remember the mission was very buggy in Clear Sky and it took me 2 days to finally capture duty base

yes, you can do literally anything

its a sandbox mod, meaning you can choose your starting faction + location including story mode (which isnt that good)

i recommend, if youre getting both mods, dont select any modes and play it like a sandbox

We can all agree that the S.T.A.L.K.E.R games are one of, if not the most /doomer/ games.

But are Bandits (assuming call of chernobyl) the most /doomer/ faction?

>majority are forced to hide from the world by living in the zone

>almost everyone except freedom dislikes them

>literally outcasts among outcasts

>aren't brainwashed cultists like Monolith, who still have a purpose and aren't wondering lost (and who can still access high-tier equipment like gauss rifles and armor made for fighting non-believers in the harsh zone environment)

>care only for their own pocket

>pretty much left with only the option of raiding other stalkers, and using unethical means of doing things (rather than scavenging and finding artifacts, they engage in stealing/robbing artifacts from other non-bandit stalkers, if not killing them too)

>don't care

>have to use the equipment they come across in the field and/or obtain through unethical means, which is usually low-tier, either giving low damage or low protection, especially their own faction armor (without basic upgrades)

>still make it work

>widespread, skulk around almost everywhere, you can find them in almost every part of the zone

>make bases in some of the loneliest, most depressing or lame places (the garbage, dark valley, etc…)

I guess Loners would take second place, since they're unaffiliated with anyone, and came to the zone for their own individual reason, marinating in their loneliness, without a unifying purpose.
