This is a nice simple one. Choose one from each 4 groups and get some neat powers an potentially immortality.

Aden - flight

Rjun - reaction speed, agility, flexibility increase and perfect aim, "fast" (relative term, explain) regeneration

Nyala - normal human body that doesn't age

Orta - the Force?

Lol I'm Jedi Master Peter Pan

ORR - Dimension hopping is too promising to pass up. The others only provide mobility that can be achieved by conventional means (or sort-of emulated by Eiden).

EIDEN - Infinite memory is important for an immortal and it provides a way to heal injuries. May or may not make surviving hostile environments easier too. I imagine this would function something like the twins from the Matrix, including the regen.

NYALA - The only one to provide genuine agelessness without becoming something inhuman. Shapeshifting or superhuman resilience would be nice, but they don't grant actual immortality and might make upgrading impossible should transhumanism ever really take off. Jai has some nice bonuses but the same issue with upgrading and I'd rather not remove myself from humanity more than necessary.

TESLA - It was either this or Orta. Mind reading and control would be nice, but given enough centuries of experience I can probably get by well enough on the social front. Electromagnetism plus tech insight will make teching up in the multiverse much easier.

Aden- because always choose flight

Elden - because I always liked mind powers, and the spirit form is cool too

Nyala - because always choose immortality

Tesla - because I love elctrical powers

Orr, Everything i could ever want or to go really fast? A hard one.

Ediden, Immortality as long as my spiritual form is not destroyed, Hopefully i can make my spiritual form a more ethereal version of my jai one.

Jai, See pic, No sexual desire isn't a problem i can be more focused and i'll still have other emotions and sensations. I wonder is my form functionally anatomically correct? To blend in of course.

Orta, I have perfect memory from Ediden might as well use it to steal knowledge from the smartest people in each dimension. I should be able to communicate to anyone regardless of language with this.

I'm a multidimensional spiritual loli doll with the ability to manipulate minds. I'll wander the worlds collecting knowledge, becoming a fateful event to heroes i encounter and sometimes becoming their companions if they are interesting enough. I am a little worried about if my entire Jai body is suddenly completely destroyed would i automatically activate my Ediden spiritual form and fully recover at will or dissipate unable to coalesce.

Orr - Fucking duh

Rjun - Assuming I'm not getting hit by a train on a daily basis, I should be fine. Agility and flexibility is more versatile than raw strength and my memory's good enough as it is.

Olani - 10000 years is enough for me. Shapeshifting is cool and it also means I never get old. Sweet deal.

Orta - It's just the most useful and the most fun.

Orr: I don't want to be stuck on Earth. Get me out.

Kohr: Eiden was tempting, but I wanted the sickness immunity. Immortality might be more pleasant if I don't remember everything anyway, even if the result will be kind of depressing.

Nyala: Eiden + Jai would be better. This is a high price to pay for sexuality.

Ara: Tesla is tempting for the technical insight, but healing and fire wins.

Orr

Always go with planeswalking! The others are screwed if a world ending event takes place, and with planeswalking I could potentially visit fantasy worlds of magic and wonder.

Kohr

I would have taken Eiden if it stated that I could turn the infinite memory function of Eiden off, but it did not. Perfect memory as an immortal would make life unbearably boring. My assumption here is that the other choices can regenerate lost limbs, just a lot slower than Eiden. In that case Kohr seems like the best choice for me. Rjun and Yjit are nice in their own ways, but I don't think they are suitable for long term survival. Being immune to pandemics is absolutely essential for a long life.

Nyala

I would have went with Jai if it had sexual desire, but lacking a sex drive would make life so dull. Olani and Ouran have neat powers, but are mortal. Nyala is the only one that grants immortality and allows me to have sex. The choice here is clear.

Orta

I was torn between this and Ara. Living a comfy life as a healer or being the fire mage / white mage in a party of adventurers could be fun, but Orta has so much more utility and potential for growth.

Mind reading would speed up my ability to learn new languages and skills (like magic!). With mind reading I would know if somebody wants to do me harm. I would know whenever somebody is lying to me. I would know if a merchant is trying to rip me off. I am not the type of person to use mind control to satisfy my own desires, but I would use mind control in survival situations. It may only work on the weak-minded, but there are plenty of weak-minded people and creatures.

So far we have out of 9 people:

Skri 1, Aden 2, Myr 0, Orr 6

Yjit 1, Kohr 3, Rjin 2, Eiden 3

Nyala 7, Ouran 0, Olani 1, Jai 1

Ara 1, Tesla 2, Orta 6, Iru 0

Tallied them because it appeared very lopsided. Memory or disease immunity is the one hard choice. Planeswalk wins over enhanced normal transport. People want sex. No one wants to get old because it fucking sucks man. Mind control wins over healing and machines. No one wants life-stealing and it sucks because there are other ways to heal.

It's not just mind control. It's also mind reading that made Orta come out ahead. I think the enhanced memory of Eiden is a negative, and the people who chose it didn't really think it through. If you ride a rollercoaster 1 time, it'll be fun. If you ride that rollercoaster 100 times, it'll be boring. If you allow decades to pass and you forget the details of the experience of riding the rollercoaster, it could be fun to ride again. The people who chose Eiden can't do that. Their memory does not allow them to experience anything that they've experienced before as fresh and new ever again. What a shitty eternal existence.

If you read the text at the bottom you'll see that the person giving you powers is a "very old, bored Eidolon". No wonder she's bored, she was stupid enough to take Eiden.

If you keep trying to do the same thing over and over again of course it will get boring. There's an entire world out there full of new things to do — more if you chose Orr. The likelihood of running out of new stuff before the world has changed beyond recognition is minuscule. After several decades have passed that rollercoaster might not exist any more and new ones will certainly have been built. On the other hand, what's the point of doing all this stuff if it's going to fade after a few decades and probably be gone in a couple of centuries. Immortality doesn't really feel like immortality unless you actually remember being there, doing stuff.

>What is the inverse square law.

It's radiating 3,000 degrees of heat from your (relatively) tiny self, not from something over a million kilometres across. Something more than a few hundred metres away from you won't even notice. Probably a lot less than that.

I'm trying to put some numbers to the powers in the 4th row. 'Controls unseen force' and 'manipulates magnetic fields' doesn't really help much, but 'radiates up to 3,000c' does give something to work with.

Since the user is the one with the rune, lets assume that 'radiates' means the body of the wielder of this power is evenly radiating heat at 3,273 kelvin. Typical human surface area is around 2 square metres, and thermal emissivity of skin is ~0.98. This gives us about 12.75 megawatts of heat being radiated. This is quite a lot, but doesn't sound very practical — maybe it can be focused into beams or something. Iru presumably works the same but in reverse, draining heat out of things (this fits in well with the lifedrain side of the power).

Control over electromagnetism sounds like it would be a lot more practical, and so is presumably less powerful in terms of energy, though by how much is impossible to say. Maybe treat it like RPG balancing and say it's X times less powerful as it's usable in X times as many scenarios? This should take into account the other aspect of the power. Generally, telepathy and intuitive understanding of technology will see far more use than the ability to heal another's injuries, to say nothing of lifedrain.

The TK side of Orta is even more flexible and presumably has even less raw power — again, no way to easily put a hard number on it. All we can say is that it's likely significantly less energy than 12.75Mw (or less than 12.75 mega newtons).

You could take the easy route and drop the energy used by an order of magnitude for Tesla and by two orders for Orta or something like that, but that seems a little arbitrary.

Has anyone else come up with some fluff characteristics they like to use to flesh out what these stones can do?

It's a simple immortality, fidgeting with devices and generally not getting near things that will make me sick.

Myr - Teleportation (maybe not the most fun, but I think the most useful)

Eiden - Infinite and perfect memory (no point in living a long time if you can't even remember it)

Jai - Immortal Shell (after the first few hundred years go gives a fuck about sex anyways? I'm trying to build an empire here)

Tesla - Electric manipulation (we are talking about one of the basic 4 forces of the universe here)

Looks like I'll be an immortal robot wizard.

Jai's major downside isn't the lack of fertility and sex-drive. If you don't have a sex drive you won't miss it much (think post-nut clarity). The downside is 'does not […] die through any means.

A trillion trillion trillion trillion years from now, when the last black holes evaporate, you're still going to be there, stuck floating though the void and unable to end it.

Even if Tesla can produce energy from nothing, you're still going to be limited to whatever kind of civilisation that can survive off nothing but the power you generate.

Immortality being a downside (because boredom) is the same as the downside as the sex thing. They're both Human concerns which no longer matter once immortal. Who cares if you're bored, you're immortal.

1. Look up the video "civilizations at the end of time", you could hook your brain up to a very slow running computer and live in a VR world for trillions of years off even the smallest bit of energy left in the cosmos

2. You can always day dream an infinite number of worlds and scenarios, at this point your brain would "be" the cosmos.

3. Orr implies there are other dimensions and worlds, if you chose that then you're good, or if you're smart enough to figure out how to access them via non rune means (which you should considering you have trillions of years).
