My guess is that he'll be open to the idea of dating Star, but will see her with Tom and change his mind. It could even be a misunderstanding because Star still has strong feelings for Marco, so she might not want to date Tom. But Marco could see them together and think they are a couple. In which case he would be bitter (exacerbated by the fact that he probably thought he's be fighting dragons as a knight instead of cleaning stains). So he moves on and dates someone else. Then Star realizes he's back and is crushed that he's with someone else. If there was a connection with Tom it evaporates now that she knows Marco is in Mewni.
So that's the clearest path I see for the show to get back to cuckqueaning. Let's not dwell on this "Marcuck" speculation.

It isn't. He was forcing himself to stay on earth because of her, she saw that and broke up with him, because he wasn't doing what he could be doing and it was going to end up hurting him in the long run.
This may be just a headcanon but personally, I think Marco hasn't wanted to be on earth since Running With Scissors.
He was happy and comfortable with his adventuring life, and wanted to stay, he only decided to go back to earth once Hekapoo told him that with the scissors, he could come back any time.
Marco has a strong sense of responsibility, to an almost autistic degree (you'll see that in Trial By Squire) and I think that wanting to make his relationship work, was placing a bit above the life of adventure that he wanted to have in the multiverse.
What I'm saying is blame Hekapoo's ass for this.

Marco's return from Hekapoo's dimension doesn't seem to have a huge impact at the time and I don't see why it would affect him now. This whole thing seems to be blamed entirely on Marco's trip to Mewnie, and everything points out to Marco making a mistake. He is fucking blinded by the "I saved Mewnie", when that is not only an exaggeration but also misguided as hell. If that happened right before the whole Hekapoo thing, I'd understand, but this is a lot of time after that AND he is fixated in the "Save Mewnie" thing. Maybe the whole Hekapoo thing helped him realize he wanted adventure, but he was ok until after Battle for Mewnie and after Riven gave him the damn cape So you might as well blame Riven
This is what I think will happen, now that Star have revealed to be the fucking bitch in heat I knew she always was is going out with Tom again, and seeing how Marco will not have the kind of life he expected in Mewnie, he will realize he fucked up, but he will force himself to stay out of shame, doing things he doesn't want and being forced to watch Star with Tom constantly only because he believed his own autistic delusions. There's no justification for Marco to act like this when he literally never been this way before, which is why I think is a shitty plot-device.

How do you know? He had almost no screentime after RWS, I recently rewatched S2 and aside from that sensei episode, he only had a comparable amount of screentime to Star in The Bounce Lounge, that was a filler episode that meant nothing. And the two parts of the finale. Other than that he was barely there. That coupled with the fact that Daron herself said that Adult Marco was going to come back in some way.
I also don't like how people are saying Marco is "forced" to see them together, Marco has no romantic feelings for Star. Hell, the only episode that may (and I put emphasis on that word) imply that is the episode Lava Lake Beach and its because the synopsis says that he questions his friendship with Star. Nothing else. Hell he'll be hanging out with hekapoo in the following episode.
Also, the only four confirmed characters for that episode are Tad, Kelly, Marco and Star.
Will Marco develop romantic feelings for star? Yes, probably. But as far as we've seen, she is just his best friend.

I'm hoping Night Life is a great episode. The synopsis implies that his adventure with Hekapoo has continued for some time since before the beginning of the ep, and it involves cleaning up another of Star's fuck-ups, again, so there will be good humor there. Though I hope he gets a kick in the pants sooner than that. Maybe in Lava Lake Beach. Maybe the questioning of his friendship with Star will regard whether even being friends with her is worth the trouble. That would be delicious. The "we need to talk" talk. One flicker of panic across Star's face, even just three frames' indication of her fear of being abandoned. That's the sufferjoy I crave.
And all the better if that suffering is never soothed. With how cartoon storylines work, a Starco end seems likely regardless of momentary turns of events. It's industry formula that a boy-girl couple in the theme song kisses in the finale. But I would be amazed and deeply satisfied if this staggering work of heartbreaking genius had a Jarco end. Please Nefcy, let this be the first modern cartoon where the protagonist couple doesn't win. Break from tradition where it really matters, where it really makes a difference.

I've always been a fan of how this is a girl power cartoon where the MC is so gadarene it can actually have consequences for herself and others. It's like early Homer, where his continual misunderstandings of the world around him are what bring misfortune upon him. But it only works because others around Star know better. In a certain sense, it would be funny if this was a common trait among Mewnian women. We have seen some of it in Mina too, remember. But it shouldn't become the sole defining trait of any of them. I'd hate to think that the pace of modern life has also accelerated the rate at which cartoons start to suck. But I have faith the peak of Star Vs. is broad and yet to come. And girl power doesn't have to mean making guys pathetic, a story problem even PPG fell victim to on occasion. I'm imperfect but optimistic just the same.

I want to propose something. Call me a crazy spic, but I think there is some starco undertones to Star's relationship with tom.
At the beginning of Lint Catcher, Star and Tom are eating burritos and playing battleships. Both things are from earth. One considerably more mexican than the other. You can even argue that even the sodas are from earth.
Then, in Sweet Dreams, Marco mentions that he found "Captain Blanche's Sugar Seeds" (his favorite cereal) on mewni. Star answers with "they have an importer" My question is "But why?"
And then here, she gave one of Marco's hoodies to Tom. He promptly added his own touch, but the question remains. Why? They're in a beach… In hell.

Didn't notice this at first, but when Marco uses the wand crescent moon marks appear on his cheeks. Remember back when Marco and Star both read Eclipsa's chapter? Star was not tempted by it but Marco was and was floating in a pool of evil energy. Glossaryck undid it, but now he's retarded.
Now Marco has used Eclipsa's dark magic again, and unlike Star will be tempted by the dark side. Marco's gonna get ECLIPSED. Remember Eclipsa thinks he's adorable. Probably monster arm will be involved too, as they've already hinted at it's comeback multiple times. Also when the wand changes it has 8 points like the symbol for chaos, and looks evil as hell.

I'm hoping this show will even be relevant to this board at some point in the second half of the season. It hasn't really been relevant so far this season since Club Snubbed. There's still a bit of a harem element and fan art is still showing cucking. We can expect the fan art to move away from that if the show doesn't get back on track though.
I think the show is moving in the right direction. Star was neglecting Tom in the last episode so their relationship will probably fall apart and Marco is probably gonna be with Kelly so with any luck we'll have a FFM love triangle again.
