I wish my friends played games than just Call of Duty. I have played so many games that made me think of how comfy it would be to just chill with a few bros in that virtual space. I remember when I used to play Runescape 50% of my time was spent just standing around talking to my friends. DayZ is also great example of this. I could spend hours hunkering down in a comfy area overlooking a well-traveled area and quietly share stories with some komrades while we await target practice.

What are some games you guys find comfy? Maybe we could add each other on steam and get comfy together.

I haven't played comfy games in a while, and I don't know if the new Civ game (Beyond White) is any good.

To be honest, I never found gaming to be relaxing. I nearly always overautism it, I can't just turn off my mind and play.

Only a few games make me feel relaxed, but it seems a lot easier when you are with others. From what I hear, BE is nothing special. Even my most optimistic friends say it will be complete crap until a few DLC packs come out.

And what are those games?
I don't really have friends to be comfy with, we usually laugh or curse too much for that.

Yeah, I bought it on day 1, liked it for a few hours, then hated it. One of my friends was gonna get it, but I told him he shouldnt

Banished has that aesthetic for me. Town life, not to stressful. I can just insert as a citizen and let everything happen.

Banished is max comfy. I make small towns of 4 families, a storage house, a farmers market, a herbalist, a gatherers hut and a wood cutters lodge. I set jobs on the perfect proportion so that all families live and work inside the same village, there is no need to bring in workers for vacancies and no need to leave the village due to unemployment. when a child reaches age, they go to the city center which is a small town to be educated. upon education they will receive a house in a new village

Morrowind

While it could get scary and hectic at times, I loved how utterly relaxing it could be.

>playing botanist/alchemist

>out picking flowers and mushrooms

>got mod that adds butterflies and fish

>soft official music playing .

Space Engineers has always been comfy for me.

>alone in space (or with friends on a private game)

>mine asteroids, build spaceships and a space station

>explore caves in bigger asteroids

>queue up some comfy music in the background for long sessions

>when you don't want to build, have your ship cruise through the cosmos

Pic related is my terrible mining ship. You can kinda see the wireframes on stuff I still have to build.

Shilling for >>>/esc/ here too, a board dedicated to comfy video games and games good for escaping reality. I'll put a link to this thread in the /esc/ game recommendations thread so you guys get more comfy-friendly traffic.

I think it's pretty comfy singleplayer. It'd be nice if there was a chill server for anons to build silly shit with each other. none of that pvp/factions stuff.

Endless Legend and Endless Space are both very comfy. Endless Legend probably more so, because Space has more unexpected and harsher wars from the NPCs.

I've been on a couple servers that have been made for the chans, and i left them all because people just grief. If anyone is going to make a minecraft server for this board i would suggest that you periodically save it so no one can grief.

there is a comfy game i used to play called Steamworld heist. its got a lot of cool aesthetics and the soundtrack is great.

Kerbal is incredibly comfy to me. I can tinker with ships for hours. Starsector is also great to get lost in depending how much you follow the main quest.

My Comfy Game for the past year and a bit has actually been Meat Gear Survive– after completing the story (which certainly was good gaming per buck–loved how it took me a week to beat the last challenge), I got a comfy 1-2 hours an night of destressing routine to do. The game is a bit long-in-the-tooth now, though, so I'm up for suggestions for another game..

The two first Harry Potter games on PC are peak comfy. The first game as a slightly darker atmosphere at times, but the second game is a lot more fun and more polished; running around the castle exploring secrets and listening to the soundtrack is a lot of fun.

I recall reading through the first three books just to realize that "Flipendo" was never once mentioned by J. K. Rowling. Fantastic game overall, you triggered my nostalgia.

I grew up reading and playing them in another language, and the translator had really gone all in trying to come up with fitting variants for the originals in English. “Flippendo” was called “Vippendo”, and I don’t think I ever noticed that the spell wasn’t mentioned in the books. I think JKR wrote the bios on the Wizard Cards you collect in the game, but I remember finding one card in the first came, of a witch who died in 1997 – JKR probably hadn’t decided when the books take place at that time…

The later levels in “The Philosopher’s Stone” are the most atmospheric out of the games IMHO; after the Fire Seed Caves and the Quidditch match you begin in the Entrance Hall, and the game really allows you to go exploring as you make your way to Defence Against the Dark Arts class.

The next level is the Lumos Challenge, perhaps my favourite level out of all. Hardly any music in this level – just ambient sounds of outside wind and the empty rooms and hallways. It is the darkest level so far, visually, so the Lumos spell really shines here. There are lots of dark blues and purples throughout the level, and it uses darkness and shadows brilliantly – the painted glass windows contrasts nicely in the dimmed rooms.

The Potions class in the dungeons is even darker still – both visually and thematically.

It is a shame they never went for a similar atmosphere in the second game, “Chamber of Secrets”, and I think the reason is the story is a lot darker, and it would have been too much for a children’s game. The music is beautiful though, and helps set the mood nicely. The game is really vivid, with strong, vibrant colours throughout, and the game is much more open than the first – you can run around and explore and interact with people way more than in the first game. And there are more things to pick up in the secret rooms you find, other than the Bertie Botts Every Flavour Beans.

The third game is a lot of fun too, but way too short. It skips a lot of stuff, and I don’t think the makeover everything got, beginning with the third movie is as appealing. Everything is too grimdark and desaturated to feel as magical and comfy as the first two games. It is weird that EA never re-released the three first games for modern systems. I bet there are quite a few people who would want to revisit those games.
