Bob Iger is gone from Disney!

http://archive.ph/wip/lRKaH

He's being replaced by "Bob Chapek". All I can find is his official bio which states he was previously in charge of parks. Can anyone find anything else about him?

http://archive.ph/wip/HLDpg

The timing suggest this wasn't a retirement, but a termination. People don't retire in the middle of a week then get replaced by an internal hire.

From what I hear, Bob Chapek is a notorious penny pincher. It's the reason why they cut park entertainers and raised the parks prices. Makes sense since Iger overpaid for many properties and has raised their debt they haven't paid off yet. Especially for Star Wars.

I wonder what was the straw that broke the camel's back? Was it the series of flops made by disney in recent years? The complete train wreck of the sequel trilogy? I'm genuinely curious what made the execs out him, did he get caught doing something illegal and disney is trying to throw him under the bus before he soils the brand?

It seems like Iger wanted to finally retire. He was trying to a few times already, but it kept getting delayed due to various purchases. I remember hearing news about him planning to retire as soon as Fox acquisition is completed.

Frankly that's an improvement over doing things with Disney's money purely to push a political agenda that doesn't bring Disney money.

Well, they are making billions as well in ticket sales alone.

And most of their succesful movies are considered woke as fuck.

He's 69 and wanted to retire since at least 2018 (op's first link). Good riddance, but i doubt anything will change at Disney, realy. More of the same shit for years to come. Except SW, which is at the bottom now, so producing something at least marginally better shouldn't be that hard.

But he set a date for his retirement, and this wasn't it.

He's still in Disney though. He only stepped down as CEO and is now a chairman of the board until his contract expires in 2021. He said in an interview he chose to do it because of a change in priorities from purchasing stuff to managing it. Does this mean he'll renew his contract? If he's not lying, yes.

Bob Iger is one of those super-well-connected fuckers who's most likely in a cult. It's not a coincidence that he stepped down right before the DOW is dropping like a stone. He's going to hide at his private island to ride out the incoming boogaloo.

Disney is buying their own tickets to lie about their income to investors. The source for this specific claim is my ass, but really, how much of a leap is it when they are already pulling this shit ( https://www.marketwatch.com/story/disney-whistleblower-told-sec-the-company-inflated-revenue-for-years-2019-08-19).They make money by playing the stock market, not by making movies people want to see.

I believe that. If they construct lies about stolen scripts and shit because they know a movie might end up as a flop (Star Wars 9), OR prevent other movies from being shown on the largest screens, then they buy their own tickets. I hope that one fucker on this board who posted he "lost trust in Disney because characters migth be gay" reads this. They are thugs.

(Kinda off-topic, but Disney characters have been stereotypical gay since the 90s or even earlier. It's just not official, because of their huge Christian parents audience. Gay representation sells well.)

You're making things up.

>Gay representation sells well

Since when? It definitely doesn't sell well in foreign markets considering many censor out gay scenes.

>Yuri sells

You're greatly misidentifying a bunch of stuff to support your preference for yuri over conventional western lgbt culture, yuri sells about as well as any porn doujins do when not being posted for free online.

But yes gay representation does not sell well, I have only see gay representation hook gays themselves which don't produce enough profit, the best representation selling media I have ever seen is Dead By Daylight and even then the game has white people in it.

As possible as it is, I don't buy that theory, if they could do that they wouldn't have dissapointing numbers in well known movies, especially if they put a lot of money in marketing.

I think he meant that the gay community has being interested in Disney characters since the 90s and many of their character can be interpreted as having gay traits by today standards.

yurishit doesn't sell gangbusters, but it still is a midly popular subgenre. Never underestimate the monetary power or autism of yurifags and fujoishi.

Should clarify I'm not the guy you're replying to. He's entirely wrong to assume this mildly popular in japan genre has significant crossover with disney shit in the west. Sure, there are western yurifags but there's nowhere near enough of them to make an impact. crazy ass tumblr shippers have more of an impact ,but their influence doesn't extend much beyond shit that is already deep into alphabet politics, and the occasional half-assed pandering attemp from bigger companies.
