To no one's surprise, High Republic is a shittier EU with diversity as one of its main goals. Also, the reveal video for it is about as corporate as it could get. Books spanning multiple companies so who knows how they'll keep continuity in check since they couldn't do it with the Disney trilogy and they scrapped the EU because they didn't want to worry about it. All pushed by Kathleen Kennedy so you know somethings bound to be cancelled for not living up to her standards.

Already off the bat you know the continuity will be a mess & impossible to make sense of. Comic companies are not the people you should put in charge of your next big project. Especially if no one is going to read them. Comics have become a dying medium that pushed away it's niche audience for people that never read them. This is gonna be another money sink for Disney. Good. Let em waste their money ruining a dead franchise ever further.
A wookie with a lightsaber also looks ridiculous.

Lucas actually put a ban on new EU Wookiee Jedi eventually. Never did find out his reason.

Even though there's already a Star Wars thread, I'm going to let this fly under the table. Just remember and check the catalog next time.

A creature than can rip the arms off, presumably, most other humanoids, doesn't need a melee weapon, it IS one.

Imagine how difficult it is for a wookie to not constantly singe their fur when wielding a lightsaber. Just constantly smells like burnt hair.

I think Lucas might have done that after four or five wookie jedis were created, but the species was supposed to have low force sensitivity. Lucas might have been trying to do that to maintain consistency, but we will never know fore sure.

Wrong
