>Fatal Five is a good movie
After Batman and Harley Quinn turned out to be a vehicle for Bruce Timm's weird fetishes, I thought the DCAU was done for, but this movie was kind of decent and I'm looking forward to it again.
The DCAU was awesome and had a ton of amazing interpretations of DC characters, we definitely need a movie about the Question fighting the Uncanny condiment king.

One question I had the whole time was where Supergirl was. She's not in the Legion's statue museum to all it's members & to memorialize the JL. She's also not in present with the Legion roster in the flashback fight or the ending. But at this point she should already be in the future with Brainiac.

The eye thing is destroyed so it can't happen before supergirl goes to the future right? maybe same as green lantern, off world doing something else.

It has to be after since Superman doesn't acknowledge Brainiac as an enemy on sight. So he's gotta know he can trust him. You may be right then. Supergirl is probably off somewhere else in the Legion's time.

I'm sorry.
There's also Harley raping Nightwing and the whole thing being played straight like it's supposed to be sexy, which even if it is for some it's a massive double standard. The musical number with the Two-Face goons was good though.

Did he consent to it? Also, a woman raping an full grown man would not be very unpleasant, so long as she wasn't pegging or doing anything else like that. Maybe if she was fat and ugly and had a warty vagina it would be awful, but I can't see that a normal woman just forcing some dude dick up her vagina wouldn't be painful or otherwise horrible, It might be painful if they were a virgin who had never masturbated in their life

Harley had him tied up in bed. He resisted at first but she convinced him extremely fast.
Just because sex feels good doesn't mean it isn't wrong to force someone of either sex into a situation where they have no way to resist your advances. It sends a fucked up message Nightwing just gives up & is willing to let her do whatever.

I agree. The movie overall, at least what I saw from it, is absolute cringe and I never wanted to see the classic TAS designs in those situations.
The new additions to Killing Joke were fucked up too. Did Bruce Timm create this one too? He lost his mind.

Timm was involved with both. Who knows how he lost his touch or how much he had control over it all.

The beginning part of Killing Joke was written by Brian Azarello I believe. It's just bizarre. If they wanted to pad the story out why not include that second story at the end where some middle aged dude talks about kidnapping a girl and trying to be evil.

He wasn't the only writer, personally I like to attribute the DCAU to Paul Dini but the truth it's that it was a big team effort.

A second part where Batman struggles with the idea that, being a man in a bat suit punching people, he really is terrible for everyone's mental health written by Paul Dinni might have been good.
I never liked how the story raised that point and then didn't explore it.

Think of him as a modern day Stan Lee with decent work ethics. Great project leader with a good vision, and his presence alone sometimes could elevate the material by the writers and artists. But Bruce cannot work alone or without his dream team: Paul, James, Glen, Dan, Alan, Stan, Joaquim etc. The more I watch the DCAU, the more I see it as a lighting in a bottle, I don't think we'll see such high level material in a long time.
Nowadays Bruce's surrounded by yes-men who will do whatever lazy stories he has in mind with no consideration. Didn't he say he wasn't interested in doing Killing Joke but did anyway?

It is difficult to not give the most credit to Dini when he out of people involved is still able to create good quality stories. Timm is very hit and miss. Gods and Monsters is the only one of 'his' projects in the last decade that was good. Everything else is a mixed bag. Mitch Brian sticks mostly to teaching now and rarely churns out a new script.
