Explaining it in one sentence the white supremacists can be completely written out of the story as Lady Trieu is the real villain, the real story is about how Angela and Manhattan set up the entire situation. There is no politics beyond "Oh and here's the 7th Kavalry at the end of the episode."
The one thing the show does as a legitimate statement is show Captain Metropolis as a white gay liberal who only objectifies blacks without giving a shit about them. And then it ironically throws gays under the bus by doing this.

It was pretty dumb, just like anything Lindeloff touches. World itself makes no sense. If things are so bad that cops need to conceal their identities, why let them create customized costumes and have guns on remote release? Unique costumes and personas make it easier to identify a specific cop and just give them a new identity instead of anonymity. Having a standard, government issued masks that offer protection and do not obscure vision like most costumes in the series makes far more sense. Same with guns, without them cops are at a severe disadvantage.
The only mildly entertaining thing to come out of it was the Lube Man scene, and its solely due to how wacky idea it was.

Everyone involved in writing/directing Lost got a golden ticket and got to make connections in the industry. That's how Lindeloff gets jobs despite writing shlock.
