Im going to storytime this excellent graphic Novel
>Petit is the son of the Ogre King, and the littlest giant in the royal clan. Scarcely larger than a mere human, he is the latest sign of the family's rapid degeneration, which makes each generation smaller than the one before. His father wants him killed as an embarrassment, but his mother sees in him the possible regeneration of the family lineage, since he could mate with a human, just as the Founder of their lineage once did. Confused, she confides in great Aunt Desdée, the oldest of their clan, who was once dishonored because of her love for the humans, whom the Ogres consider little more than labor and food. But contrary to her guidance, she decides to raise Petit in the family traditions, including the violent impulses that this entails. So Petit grows into manhood, torn by the hunger he inherited from his upbringing and the sympathetic education he received from Aunt Desdée . . . will he find his place in this world divided between humans and giants, neither of which truly accept him? And will he survive the voracious appetite of his own monstrous family?

You guys are really reaching to hate this comic. This comic seems to be more about how royalty saw themselves as gods, larger than life to the peasants beneath them. The villains aren't evil because they're men but because they perpetuate this idea. Even the mother seems to think this, the only reason she's not a villain is because they can't force her son to do the same. Death being described as a female is probably based on the phrase "fate is a cruel mistress." The anti-pregnancy stuff is just petit terrified of his children killing his wife and is most likely based on how even the more normal of royalty can carry genetic defects due to years of inbreeding.

Where did I say I hated the comic? I dislike it, but I don't care about it enough to hate it.
I will say that I like the visuals for the most part

There's something i find morbidly fascinating about that banquet scene, human serving other human corpses so diligently.
I want more stories like that, where human lives are treated like they're completely worthless

No, the artist is just all over the place with size inconsistency. Its generally pretty hard for the human brain to wrap his brain around big things because on a biological level an ape has no use for a cathedral or a skyscraper, and huge is just huge in your head.

That was pretty enjoyable.
Translation is pretty basic and the whole Yori arc felt very similar to Lohengram's in LoGH, down to the hair.

pacing was definitely rushed along, almost as if the artist was tired of drawing xbawks yuge architecture to do some tension and world building.

>Death being described as a female is probably based on the phrase "fate is a cruel mistress."
It's most likely because 'death' is a feminine noun in Latin and other romance languages. It is 'la mort' in French when referring to death as a concept. Same in most Slavic languages. Translators just kept the original pronoun.

I finally finished reading. The world is actually pretty interesting and novel, and premise is not something that's been done to death. It's competently written and the art is nice too. It reminds me a bit of Vives' work, but it is less loose, more detailed, and with black and white used to a great effect. Architecture looks especially good, considering all wavy and loose lines. It's pretty hard to make ornate buildings look good with loose line work.
The book manages to make prose inserts feel natural and actually contribute to the story in meaningful way. Many comic creators have difficulties doing that, and pages of text tend to feel jarring and take readers out of the book.
I would argue that this aspect is handled better than it was in Watchmen.
Thanks for story timing it.

It is pretty clear that comic criticizes and lampoons royalty, especially inbred and insane ones like some English, Spanish, French, and German royals. Giants all look like abominations produced by Hapsburg family. Current king's look was based on multiple monarchs (to me it looks like a hybrid of Leopold I and Charles IV), and triplets resemble young Charles V. God-King sounds like an exaggerated version of Louis XIV of France. Whole inbreeding to keep bloodline pure and power in the family is straight out of Hapsburg's playbook. Inbreeding leading the dynasty to its doom is what happened to Spanish Hapsburgs. Mismanaged finances, loss of territory, and technological stagnation is what doomed Austrian-Bavarian branch of the family.
To a lesser degree it is a criticism of eugenics, superiority complexes among royalty and nobility and their sociopathic tendencies, lust for power, and brutal society without compassion they all lead to.

>Side note: Why do artists draw 'adult' subject matters in Disney-esque artstyles?
How is this Disney-esque? Closest things to it in look are Atlantis and Treasure Planet, both of which are the least Diseny-esque Disney films.
