Well Black Widow is getting her own MCU movie now. One that won't matter because the character is canonically dead in Endgame so nothing in this movie will matter beyond establishing her replacement.
So besides this movie looking like an incredibly generic Mission Impossible meets Fast & Furious action movie, what really irks me is Taskmaster. They went through the effort to give Red Guardian an actually somewhat comic inspired costume. Making him look like a real cape hero. Then we have Taskmaster who looks like he got out of an airsoft tournament. Something tells me they didn't give him a skull mask because China wouldn't like that. Then of course Red Guardian gets to be a big hero because the power of communism. Thanks China.

But that looks like something with Netflix or Amazon TV series budget and art direction. Most costumes look bad, and music sounds very basic down to cliche choppy noises during fight scenes.

This was the only capeshit movie I was looking forward in whatever phase of MCU we're on now. Considering she doesn't have any superpowers, I thought they'd focus more on the writing rather than spectacle. A spy thriller unraveling Widow, showing what she's hiding under that "witty banter" and why she sleeps around with the entire avengers roster. But no, Mission Impossble 35: Whack Bidet.

>>1071635
Doug's problem is he lacks self awareness & can't grow. He can't use movie footage because of copyright so he just recreates the movies with his employees. But he's also lost any semblance of being a critic. He'll start with the basic outline of the movie, go over every plot detail with jokes, then only at the end does he actually summarize any semblance of a critique. It's most self evident in something like his 'The Wall' "review" where he just parodies the songs for being too on the nose. While simultaneously not understanding most of the messages or the context behind the songs.

Oof. Doug is a whole different can of worms. Where is he usually discussed? /tv/?
There is just so much wrong with the show. And I'm not talking about Change The Channel, which to me sounds just like a huge lists of complaints about unprofessionalism, and I went through similar, if not worse shit during my first job, yet I somehow got through it because I'm not a socially awkward Youtuber who otherwise wouldn't find a job. Unlike the whole cast of Channel Awesome. Also, the worst complaint, harassment, came from a member of the site thats absolutely bonkers (MarsGurl?)! She once went social justice army at me because I made a Linkara gay joke on Twitter. Also, what do you expect from someone who calls himself JewWario. Who would slap his fucking believes in his own username except some insecure weirdo.
Sorry, I digressed.
Doug lacks self-awareness, yes, he especially overestimates his humor and "acting" skills. The longer a skit, the more embarrassing it gets. Fans actually re-upload his videos without his jokes inbetween.
Whenever he makes fun of his co-workers in his jokes (who I actually like), I can't find it funny, since I question how Doug is IRL; and after Change The Channel, he should be aware of that acting like an asshole might make him look like an actual asshole.
His criticism is abstract and tries to be "special", even though he knows that everyone else would disagree (like his choices on every single Top 11), so he can slap a whimsical speech into the video. He's kinda like Mike from Redlettermedia when it comes to that. Old and out of touch.
Re-enacting a movie is stupid, he only does that to be clickbait and current, but it completely goes against the concept of his channel. Same with reviewing movies AGAIN outside of his role (goodbye, authenticity), and making a "First Viewing" video after implying he got extended knowledge and/ or nostalgia for the reviewed movie.
And yes, The Wall video was (how ironic, really) his downfall. Where him not understanting the movie was combined with his lost touch with internet culture and pop culture. Well, he lost my respect as a reviewer long ago when he didn't get Last Action Hero, a movie that's so on the nose with being a parody. It just shows that he's a shitty critic, and I'd even say he's neither smart, nor does he have much general education. Did you know he was janitor before becoming the Critic?
I still watch it basically to see a movie I've never seen being commented on in a stupid way, but not like Mystery Science Theatre, because that's boring. And not like some pseudo-angry cynical nu-male neckbeard we have too many of.

To make an entertaining show like RLM, you have to be entertaining. And James just feels misplaced there. And regarding Mike's show, I don't even care. They review material without any footage of the material, that's lazy as fuck, especially considering how James showed us his collection of absolutely everything over and over again.

Really that'd just be better for the comics. The movies take everything messy & try to form a linear narrative they can't constantly change or retcon easily. While the comics would probably benefit more from just separation by franchise to allow breathing room for creators to do things without tying everything together to create conflict. X-men just makes more sense if they're in a world where it's only mutants that have superpowers. Street heroes are more interesting when they're not around heroes fighting cosmic threats just a few steps over.
