I hope they don't try and bring this back as a series and just keep it as a one shot. Chances are they'll fuck it up somehow along the way, assuming of course this movie doesn't blow. Judging from what's been seen, the big red rocket that took them to the future in the final episode is there but we already saw the future then and it looked nothing like this shit. So how are they going around that?

Let's hope so (Nick is heavily relying on Ninties-stalgia to get by)
>Chances are they'll fuck it up somehow along the way
They might already have (Rocko might be gay in it)

Anyone read the new comics that came out for Rocko's Modern Life? I would assume they're bad since they're under Kaboom unless someone has a different opinion by actually reading them.

>The last episode (Future Schlock) was already set 17 years (from a unspecified 1996?) into future (with hovercars and stuff) with "old" Filbert being 38 and having teenage kids, and the time slowed/non aging (?) Rocko and Heffer returning to Earth after accidentally traveling on a high speed rocket for that time period
>End of that episode has Filberts teenage kids board the rocket and since they can't drive (maybe I'm remembering that wrong) crash straight through Rocko's house and take it into space, with Filbert, Heffer, Rocko and Spunky all aboard for the ride.
>Since the previews for RML: Static Cling haven't made any mention of the other characters, they seem to be story simplifying it down to just a reduced cast of the1996 Filbert, Heffer, Rocko (no Spunky?) now being launched on the rocket and crash landing in the present day 20+ years later without aging because of rocket speed
It's sucks that they had to retcon the ending of Future Schlock but it seems like the only way they could even get the premise of Static Cling to work, unless they somehow retcon/reboot/inconsistencies somehow a plot point. Maybe their stuck in a Matrix like simulation made by Conglom-o?
I would hope that somehow they make fun of reboots/revivals being made by soulless corporations lacking new ideas and having to pander to/change the past to get returning audiences, but current Nick would probably stop them.

Seriously? So they might brush all his countless crushes under the rug? Or the fact that he scored with the kangaroo mail lady near the series end?

They'll either make him realize he's gay later in life or bi (but the former is far more progressive)
Pics related is the only reason why people are thinking this (and I find it quite humorous that Carlos used a line that followed with a joke that can be considered homophobic)
The idea of Static Cling (90s guy has Current Year Future Shock) is intriguing but Joe Murray's liberalism squanders this idea

Geez Louise. Also, if anything they'd make Rocko a full fag, since for some reason modern media really doesn't seem to like bifags unless they're promiscuous because supposedly they make gays look bad or some bullshit reason.
>labeled LGBTQ Movies
What? So assuming they don't make Rocko gay, the movie will probably only have like a brief shot of some fags walking down the street or getting married, yet that's enough to get a movie slapped with a label that should only be used for movies that are exclusively about LGBTBBQ themes?
>>1068003
Man he's trying way too hard. Also wouldn't that be incest? Or is he gonna make them admit that they're not really brothers and that was just a cover despite looking identical? Also this is supposed to be set in 2020 with only Rocko and his two friends being the only ones who remain the same, so the Chameleon bros along with everyone else they ever knew should be old or dead.

Did no one pick up on the gay undertones of the original show? I'm pretty sure the creators even stated something along the lines of Rocko being gay a long while ago.

I think someone magazine critic claimed that Heffer seemed like he was gay back in the 90's but even then he still has that episode where he tried to date/bring a female elk to dinner.
>"Ive always liked . . . rainbows
And that quote is really out of context considering what happens after it's said.
It's from the episode where Ed Bighead had a double life as a clown which he didn't want anyone else to know about (possibly akin to being secretly gay or having an affair?), when the characters all admit different secrets about themselves at the end of the episode, Rocko's innocent comment about liking rainbows ends up disgusting everyone and gets him chased out of town by the other characters (including Filbert/Hutch's infant kids) and the episode ends. Basically an end of episode final joke.
If going by that single quote makes him gay, then all the actions of all the other characters (his friends) who chased him out would make them look homophobic in hindsight.

See, the active word there is UNDERTONES. Whatever you can slip past the censors is fine, but outright having Rocko scream "Crikey, Heff, I think I wanna stick me didgeridoo up yer billabong!" or similar is fucking disgusting.
The pendulum is finally swinging back, and swinging back hard, but we're going to have to put up with at least one more year of pandering to the SJWs and faggots due to the previous years' greenlit content.

I take it you forget that time in the original show where Rocko says he likes rainbows and everyone got mad at him? At the time in the 90's acceptance for gays was still gaining ground. Face it; this shit was always trying to push degeneracy, you were just too young to realize it.
>>1072706
It was still there, and I guarantee you had those censors not been there, they would've been a lot more open about it.

MFW everyone gets a gay relationship in cartoons these days while the straight characters never settle. At least it feels like that.
But hey, whatever triggers people who care too hard makes me happy.

Watch embed related. Murray states that he's happy with the Big head clown episode, but he always wanted an explicit gay character in his show.
