That about sums up most parts of the show. I don't even mind that they made him a wetback but his mother is such a terrible and inoffensive character that she offers nothing new other than being a stereotypical upper class mexican woman obsessed with novelas instead of making her the mexican equivalent of the depressed and over worked low class loser her old self was. That kind of pathetic lifestyle really encouraged you to root for Fenton and be happy for his new superhero career, and it was also nice seeing him progress to upper middle class as the show went on, going from broken down trailer, to bigger trailer, to trailer mansion by the end of the series. It added real development.

>>1059693

Well that's dumb. Revealing that she was dead would've been a far better emotional pay off. Aside from that, the whole episode was just underwhelming and tried too hard to make the audience go "aaawwww how sweet" or "wow badass!" when it really wasn't.

>>1059774

So what's the point of Donald being in the show besides melodrama and being a punching bag? He was hardly relevant to the last season's adventure episodes beyond the pilot and finale then got stranded on the moon. It's obvious the writers have no real idea what to do with Donald since they want to keep focus on Della with her family drama she brings but don't know how to fit Donald into the team.

I think I'm having more fun them establishing a DCAU-esque universe. Than the show itself. Half expecting a Darkwing Duck reboot.

This series ain't so bad. It's not amazing. But it's lacking in key parts to make it 11/10. 2 seasons in and it hasn't reached it. But it's perfectly enjoyable at this point. So any fags saying its garbage are just being hyperbolic. Ok =/= garbage. If you idiots keep saying that they'll be expecting actual garbage. If anything it's the one show that doesn't fuck up on characterization. Steven universe and Gravity Falls absolutely failed on decent characterization.

So far this series has done good on Characterization and basic consequences. Unfortunately this might change with this new character.

The thing is, it lacks is satisfying drama. It had a main arc in Season 1 but Magica was underwhelming. In Season 2, the moon people are build up as potential season finale villains but I don't care about them at all, because they don't have anything to do with the story.

And I already feel that Della is going to leave the show again, deciding to rule the moon or something, because they never know how to write parents into a show. While I like her energy, she's just a trope I've seen a billion times of a misfit character, that won't have time to get used to her environment and just leaves.

But what I enjoy about the show is how lighthearted it is, simply fun to watch, dares to be current (we talk about Disney here), tons of nostalgia (maybe too many winks at you) and I even like the villains. Glomgold has improved much since they gave him Owlson as voice of reason, trying to be professional. And most importantly, I'm SO tired of political agendas,

I just want to watch a show that doesn't get so far as trying to teach me something or force an opinion on me.

That's true. It's very lacking in drama and truly interesting characterization in the one new main character they introduced. But they have a great opportunity to show just how deep her characterization is in the form of a flashback episode or two. Then have an episode dealing with Della as a major and a minor character.

I always assumed they where a lighthearted action show at first and overtime introduce more serious and drama dripping aspectsl later. Like literally every show ever after Adventure time. The only thing I hope for is that they at least do basic storytelling well and DON'T immediately shove politics up everyone's ass.

Anyway, even knowing she was in Webby's shadow the whole time Lena's return was forced and only really serves the purpose to give Webby her own girl posse (since the writers apparently recognize the whole "Webby is in the family" bit is silly and needs to stop).

Launchpad is more hilarious though with his side-adventures unknown to us, while being a complete idiot.

Fenton is very underwritten though, I can't say what makes him unique. "He's a scientist" isn't special in a show with at least 3 other scientists. There's so much potential with his mother being a cop and such, but nothing was done with it. To be fair though, it's been just 2 seasons and a shitton of characters, and I rather see those characters being developed slowly and over time, instead of a handful of characters being ruined with… well… random character quirks.

I don't care for Launchpad since I rather have his appearances in Original Ducktales and Darkwing Duck where he was just overly optimistic and one of the kids. The offscreen badass parts are funny enough sure. But otherwise he's largely been here to spit non-sequiturs.

So yeah, if they're serious about having Reboot Darkwing Duck be a thing then I think they shot themselves in the foot by establishing DW is just a character played by Jim Starling (complete with establishing most of his major villains are themselves just characters played by actors) who is now an actual superhero played by his fanboy. I don't see any episodes including him not being a little too self-referential, and I imagine he only has like 2 of his major villains who could fit (Taurus Bulba, Steelbeak).

They also dumped a lot of DW's worse parts (vanity, craving for the spotlight) into one character. Which sure, worked with what they were doing for the episode but I imagine risks making Reboot Darkwing being more flat in comparison.

>Turns out is Poweline song

Any more references like this? They can't deny that girl is indeed Roxxane now.

I like Fenton, but I hate Gizmo Duck as a character. Every episode he is in is uninteresting as fuck and Gizmo Duck as a super hero is simply stupid, it's Inspector Gadget without anything that makes Inspector Gadget at least funny. I admit I liked the latest episode about him, but other than that, they could have just stick to Darkwing Duck.

>>1060564

>I can't say what makes him unique. "He's a scientist" isn't special in a show with at least 3 other scientists

This is mostly my problem with him. He has no identity. A super hero? There's Darkwing Duck. Scientists? There's fucking Gyro. He has a wetback mom and he doesn't speak spanish himself.

The only thing remarkable about him is that he is a good guy, but that's forgettable.

There are creative solutions to that little issue. You could have Negaduck go to up to the actors and convince them to turn evil. You could have fanboys of the old show decide that if there's a real Darkwing, there has to be a real MegaVolt or Quacker Jack, you could even just use magic to bring them directly out of the show and into the "real" world.

>Roxxane

I'm sure she's a knowing reference but I doubt the makers would flat-out say she's her.

>Gizmo Duck

I'm fond of his dynamic with DW in the OG Darkwing Duck, but yeah. I think part of the problem is that he has no DW to play off of here. And considering how the cast is I don't think we'll get too many chances to have them interact.

>Fenton

Fenton's whole problem is that he's a stand-in for Donald while Donald is already here. Doubly since his self-serving/social climbing bits have removed or at least toned down.

 No.1061635

Okay, gotta start my pointless task with Season 1.

S1 E1:

- Scrooge's portrait in his living room is a reference to the cover of Don Rosa's "Last Sled To Dawson", except with a cowboy hat instead of a fur hat.

- Huey, Dewey, and Louie try to escape a room with a bag of marbles, but instead of doing something clever with it, keep hitting the door with it (clever, Disney). A reference to the original show, where marbels are a ridiculously overpowered tool. As a kid, I owned one episode as a record, and it was the episode where they sink Pistol Pete's submarine with a marble, as far as I remember.

- There's a Webby doll pinned to the wall during Webby's first appearance, with the old design. This is consistent whenever Webby's room is shown.

- not a reference, but according to Webby's board, World War 2 is canon in that universe. Jikes.

- Webby's board shows Donald and Della's parents. The episode also shows Scrooge's parents.

- Webby's board shows a paper "Scotty Mc Duck, alternate universe?". It's a reference to Scrooge's father in Carl Barks's comics, who's not canon outside of that universe.

- Dingus is Scrooge's grandfather and for some reason not shown in detail on Webby's board unlike the other characters. He doesn't seem to be canon in this universe either.

- "10C = #11" seems to make a connection between Scrooge's lucky dime and "The Life and Times of Scrooge Mc Duck #11", where he gets rich and builds the Money Bin. However, his dime isn't in the story.

I leave other references on this board for later.

- Scrooge most likely got the Medusa Gauntlet from Medusa herself. He mentions how he fought her later.

- First appearance of possible Roxanne-reference-character, who applies for a job as a reporter at the same time as Donald and it turns out she got the job. She appears in several episodes as a reporter, but never talks.

S1 E2 (Daytrip of Doom)

- Webby seems to speak all languages. Here it turns out she speaks Japanese while watching a Guitar Hero clone. In season 2 it turns out, she also speaks dead languages and Portuguese, Norse etc.

S1 E3 (Great Dime Chase)

- "The Life and Times of Della Duck" is again a comic reference.

S1 E5 (Terror of the Terra Firmians)

- The Terra Firmians return from the original Ducktales, where they break a hole into the Money Bin. They appear as enemies in the game (not sure if they are exclusive to the Remastered though).

- Webbi-Dings is a reference to nothing. However, Disney created a fake ad for the sweets on Twitter.

- The subway train is full of Glomgold Industries ads, for sneakers, for steaks and for a magazine. So that's what they do.

Disclaimer: this post and the subject matter and contents thereof - text, media, or otherwise - do not necessarily reflect the views of the 8kun administration.

 No.1061636

S1 E6 (The House of Lucky Gander)

- Did Gladstone make an appearance in the old show? I know for sure he's a character from the comics.

- Pep!, the drink that keeps appearing in the show, is a reference to an episode of the old show, where Gyro invents a bubblegum named Pep.

- The running joke of Launchpad having side quests might be a reference to episodes of the old show, where he's got episodes all about him.

S1E7 (Internship of Mark Beaks)

- Mark Beaks is a reference to Zuckerberg. Duh. (also, my favorite villain in the show)

- Thus, Waddle is a reference to Facebook, but the name and the way it's used throughout the series reminds me more of Twitter

- there's a funny detail in that episode, where Glomgold sits below a painting of himself and makes exactly the same face.

S1 E8 (Living Mummy of Toth Ra)

- In the original intro, there is that moment where Huey, Dewey, and Louie flee from a mummy. That moment is recreated in the new intro with Toth Ra.

- note how the mummies are jakals and falcons. Nice touch.

S1 E9 (Mt Neverest)

- the episode reminds me of the Yeti episode from the original Ducktales. The plot also reminds me of The Simpsons episode "King of the Hill", where it turns out Abraham betrayed his partner who froze to death at the summit.

S1 E10 (Spear of Selene)

The character designs remind me of episodes like "Raiders of the Lost Harp" from the original show. The monster appearing in that old episode reminds me of the one in "Nothing can stop Della Duck!"

S1 E11 (Beware the Buddy System)

- The Buddy System is a reference to Tesla. Duh. Lil' Bulb is a really shitty character in this show imo and should be thrown in the trash bin. Thankfully, hasn't appeared since S1.

- First appearance of Darkwing Duck, which is a show within the show (for now). Launchpad, ironically, is a huge fan of Darkwing.

It's also the first appearance of Fendon, who's also appearing in Darkwing Duck.

S1E12 (Missing Links of Moonshire)

- Scrooge and Glomgold playing golf against each other is part of the comics

- In the comics, Golf ran in Scrooge's family, and he says he's only rich because unlike his family, he didn't waste his time on it.

- The Kelpies are obviously a jab at My Little Pony. Considering the promises they make of happiness and stuff, it seems the creators really hate MLP.

To be autistically continued…

Disclaimer: this post and the subject matter and contents thereof - text, media, or otherwise - do not necessarily reflect the views of the 8kun administration.

 No.1061646

S1E13 (Mystery at McManor).

- Dewey Duck wears a Daft Punk costume.

- Nik Nokturne is a reference to TV magician frauds (is that still a thing?).

- it's said that Scrooge more or less owns Duckburg, shown to piss off his rival Grandpa Beagle. In the comics, his rival is John D. Rockerduck instead. It may be a coincidence, but Grandpa and Rockerduck wear the same type of hat.

- Scrooge's butler is a ghost and kinda pointless in the reboot.

S1E14 (Jaw$)

- The Giant Beanstalk destroying the city didn't appear in an old episode, but in a famous Mickey Mouse cartoon.

- There is also an old episode about a giant shark in the original.

- The shark walks on 4 legs, which strangely reminds me of the manga Gyo… they wouldn't reference Gyo, would they?!

S1E15 (White Agony Plains)

- Goldie and the gold rush mentions are references to Don Rosa's comics.

- Roy Lichtenstein style flashback for some reason by Glomgold

Oh god what have they done to Doofus Drake, he's like a perverted serial killer.

S1E17 (Casefiles of Agent 22)

I love this episode.

- "The man with the Golden Everything" is a James Bond reference.

- I'm pretty sure Agent 22's and the Black Heron's designs are based on Bond girls.

- Random Trivia: Darkwing Duck was originally meant to be a James Bond style show, thats why there are so many SHUSH episodes. This is basically an episode in that style.

- Black Heron reminds me of Cinnamon Teal from the original Ducktales, a spy who tries to steal military secrets

- of course, Gummiberry juice is a reference to Disney's Gummibears, and the characters are even shown.

- the bounce sound is similar to Gummibears.

S1E18 (Who is Gizmoduck)

- kinda disappointed with Fenton not living in a trailer and not having a crappy life.

- Push it to the Limit reference.

- Gizmoduck draws Glomgold like one of his French girls.

- In the original show, in Gizmoducks first episode, Grandma Beagle reprograms him to steal stuff. In this episode, he's reprogrammed by Beaks to represent the company.

S1E19 (The other Bin)

- On a painting, Scrooge fights a Minotaur. Reference to a painting by Carl Barks.

- Webby doll is back and attacks Lena

S1E20 (Sky Pirates)

- Sky pirates of course a reference to Tailspin.

- Don Carnage appears with sidekicks so strongly re-designed, I didn't recognize them at first. New female member.

- Iron Vulture.

- Ducktales sure likes large, blue gems. They appear several times in the old show, but also in the NES game and remaster.

- Cap Suzette is referenced several times in the show.

S1E21 (Castle McDuck)

- Castle McDuck also appears in the old show and is also haunted.

- The dog is probably a reference to the Hound of Baskerville from Sherlock Holmes.

S1S22 (Last Crash of the Sunchaser)

- Darkwing Duck theme

- I mentioned Della before, but I should note that she's thankfully completely re-designed compared to the comics.

S1E23 (The Shadow War)

- there is an episode in the old show named… you guessed it… Magica's Shadow War. There, she steals shadows until her shadow becomes uncontrollable.

- references to Donald being hard to understand.

- I checked, Magica is indeed white without her powers.

- first, short appearence of the NES game moon level theme, which blew my mind

- in the comics (Toppolino and Ducktales), Magica has a sarcastic niece named Minima, who befriends Webby

Things I forgot:

- the red flagged ship in the intro is a direct reference to the Flying Dutchman comic, where the panel looks much like the scene.

- I thought Emily Quackfaster (the librarian) would be Magica in disguise at first. In Toppolino, several of her disguises look similar, e.g Amelia Witch.

 No.1061672

S2E1 (Game Night, an imo weak start for S2)

- intro now includes Magica

- tiny people living in the mansion probably a reference to the original Ducktales episode "Microducks from Outer Space" (which is a better episode than this…)

- are Webby and Dewey a thing now? Stop listening to fanart!

- Scroogeopoly actually exists.

- there's a picture of Scrooge as a kid in his office, the comic design

- the gold idol is an Indiana Jones reference, complete with giant ball and Scrooge wearing his clothes at the beginning

S2E2 (Cousin Fethry, great episode and setting!)

- Fehtry is a Toppolino character (exclusively?).

- Scrooge has a radio device from Cape Suzette, I'm sure this is a reference to the one Baloo always uses to call for help.

- forgot to mention, St. Canard (Darkwing) and Spoonerville (Goofy) were mentioned.

- crazy reference: There is a statue of William Drakespeare on the desk, next to a phone with "Great Written" written on it. This is a reference to the old episode "Much Ado about Scrooge", where he travels to the island Great Written to search for William's lost play.

- I have the feeling while researching for this episode, the creators encountered the terrible movie Octalus. Can we please have a new age deep sea horror movie like the 70s and 80s trash?

Remember that Little Mermaid episode where she got lost in the deep seas and sees all kinds of creepy and glowy shit? That was awesome. I bet it was just Rock Bottom and she didn't see the bus.

S2E3 (Ballad of Duck Baloney)

- Glomgold has a nice backstory here, of being angry at Scrooge for decades for underpaying him, so he stole some of his money. In the comics, Glomgold stole all of Scrooge's equipment and left him for dead, but was publicly humiliated for it by Scrooge. Also fun fact, he has a first coin like Scrooge but stole it.

- If I remember that correctly, Glomgold's backstory is the same story as how Scrooge earned his number one dime.

- thanks for Zen Owlson, holy crap I love her. Glomgold wasn't funny on his own imo

- the painting in Glomgolds living room is also his logo

- Twin Peaks reference. You know. For the kids.

This episode was almost shit if Scrooge hadn''t told the kids to leave Glomgold alone.

S2E4 (The Town Where everyone was Nice)

- The Three Caballeros!

- again, nice touch with the villagers being exotic birds

- as mentioned already, Webby speaks Portugese

- Dewey dabs and Webby groans

- Dewey does the pour out meme

- Louie adds the OutfitOfTheDay hashtag to all his posts without context, funny detail

- "You've taken a hundred pictures today, why don't you have any pictures of people's feet?" "Because that would be weird?" I know what you did there.

- they of course sing the song from The Three Cabballeros, except Donald's voice sounds extremely terrible to everyone but his old friends.

S2E5 (Storkules in Duckburg)

- Louie drew "The creation of Man"

- Donald has a knight's armor in his room for no reason.

- Storkules moves in with a bottle of Protein and a box of Donald Fan Art, which is hilarious.

- Hercules seems to fight harpies in a shitton of media but ironically, not in the original mythology.

- The Tonight Show reference.

- there is a skeleton similar to Baba in the Tonight Show scene complete with red hair. I hope he doesn't return.

Remember the Carpies from Gummibears? Sigh. I miss childhood.

S2E6 (Last Christmas)

- instead of angels, there are ducks on the Christmas tree

- "Humbug!" Yep. He said it.

- the 3 ghosts of Christmas aren't the ones from Mickey's Christmas Carol, sadly. The drunk looking giant ghost is a pig here with similar clothes, the Goofy ghost looks like Death, and Jiminy Cricket was replaced, but looks similar.

- might be a coincidence, but Scrooge has a similar red chair and bed as in that movie

- no information about why Scrooge and Della hate Santa yet.

- all of the guests openly call Beakley "22", which is very weird.

- I just realized that Beakleys full name is Bettina Beakley, explaining her Agent 22 name.

- Weezer reference in 90s emo/grunge Donald's room.

- Nirvana album cover next to it with an egg instead of a baby. Cute.

- a Ramones reference

- Donald of course uses a Fender

- Donald wears a Nirvana shirt

- Vendigo is obviously Krampus, why didn't they name him that way?

- Della X time travel Louie 4 OTP

- Donald still wears the ugly sweater he got from Della as a kid, which was too large for him back then. ARGH my feels.

- Della still wears the scarf he got from Donald as a kid. UGH, don't hit me while I'm down with the feels.

Forgot in Storkules in Duckburg:

- whenever Donald is angry and wants to start a fight, it's animated like in the old Donald Duck shorts.

S2E8 (Treasure of the Found Lamp)

- Treasure of the Lost Lamp is the name of the Ducktales movie from the 90s where they find the same lamp.

- I hoped the guy looking for the lamp is Dijon, but he isn't. But possibly a reference.

- I have no clue which TV show Ottoman Empire is referencing, but when Djinn mentioned the Ottoman Empire tried to massacre his family, I lost my shit.

- The Ferryman's Flame isn't a reference to anything from the show, but I guess I still mention it probably has something to do with the ferryman who takes the dead over the river Styx from Greek mythology.

- the episode has some great humor in the detail, like Djinn getting a Pep! between cuts, or Louie taking a gem he's offered.

- Gladstone has a huge painting which references a real one, but I don't know which.

- the scene where Selene climbs on the pillar and talks to Djinn is beautifully animated, just wanted to mention that.

- the scene where Scrooge and Grandma Beagle climb for the lamp is a reference to the lamp episode in the original series, which is also shown in the original intro. Strangely, the same scene is referenced in the Baloney episode.

- Scrooge reveals his relics to the world, which is my chance to mention stuff I missed because I accidently skipped it. In S1E1, two of the relics seen are a gold plate from the original show's pilot episode, and a robot head from the episode "Robot Raiders".

- the Moai isn't a duck.

- the Candy Striped Ruby appears in several comics, including the one with the infamous Bombie the Zombie. You know. The guy who's considered racist these days.

S2E9 (Outlaw Scrooge)

- Rockerduck. There he is. I wasn't sure it's him first because I didn't know his English name.

- the sunburnt face joke is incredibly weird, is that referencing something? Feels like Don Rosa humor.

- Back to the Future 3 reference.

- reference to Bond villain Oddjob.

- the whole episode is a reference to "Hearts of the Yukon", where Scrooge also finds a large gold nugget (not as large as in the episode). Scrooge already hated Santa in that comic.

- on a board with business ideas, there are still photographs of Harpies in Louies room. His shifty business plans with Glomgold didn't lead to anything yet, looking forward to it.

- there's a giant plate in the kid's room. I don't know where it's from, but that made me realize they live in Donald's former room.

If you guys haven't yet, you should read Don Rosa's Life and Times of Scrooge Mc Duck comics, they are hilarious. I also recommend "The Quest for Kalevala", which includes norse mythology and a giant sea monster. Tomb Raider Underworld used that lore, so I couldn't take the game seriously anymore.

S2E10 (The 87 Cent Solution)

- Did I mention I love Owlson? Yes I did. N.E.S.T!

- Gold fever is a reference to the old show, but in the reboot it doesn't seem to be a real thing.

- In this episode I'm sure Mark Beaks isn't a villain, but Gyro is.

- Speaking of Mark Beaks, he's at Crowchella. Heh.

- The kids have to count Scrooge's money. That happens often int he comics, and most of the time Donald has to do it.

- a complete Money Bin Lockdown is also a story happening often in the comics, and I think in the old show.

- I don't care what you think about modern popcultural references, but I haven't laughed as hard as during the scene where Glomgold dances on Scrooge'ss funeral to "All I do is Win" in a long time.

- 2 unknown characters are at Scrooge's funeral, one of them disrispectfully wears headphones.

- Roxanne Featherly is at Scrooge's funeral. How nice.

- Even the vultures are there.

- when Glomgold jumps into Scrooge's pile of money, he hurts his head. As far as I know, it's confirmed that only Scrooge can safely jump into his money and swim in it. It's inconsistent in the reboot, though.

- Scrooge talks about a devil sabotaging his life, and Glomgold is dressed as a devil while time is stopped, meaning that Scrooge noticed him in his subcontious. Interesting.

S2E7 (Whatever happened to Della Duck)

I just noticed I don't have Episode 7. But that's fine, since Episode 11 continues the story. Honestly, this episode is brilliant because it's mostly a monologue, but the sappy ending stopped it from being perfect.

- Oxy Chew was introduced in the Ducktales Remastered game, before the moon stage.

- how exactly did Della manage to cut off her leg?!

- friggin Ducktales game moon theme accapella.

- moon theme building montage, oh god yes.

- the way Della drew her kids reminds me of the Qoo mascot.

- nice detail inside the spaceship, there's an improvised hoop and a score board, with "Me vs Me" written on it.

- there's also a chalkboard in the background where she counts her days on the moon. It gets more between cuts until she runs out of space and draws all over the place. She stops counting after a year.

- Della's temper is similar to Donald's, also with a personalized animation.

- why doesn't the bug feed on the golden city?!

- I was sure the moon people were designs from the game, but they aren't. Still, they look awful and are annoying.

- the moon theme is part of the canon and a song Della sang it to her kids. WHAT.

S2E11 (The Golden Spear)

- The Ring reference. For the kids.

- Necronomicon/ Evil Dead reference. For the kids. Also, that means this show has more balls than later Ghostbusters episodes, which censored the mentioning of the Necronomicon.

- Evil Dead chainsaw hand reference, with Donald cutting a zombie in half. Oh boy.

- Klatu Verata Nicto reference. It won't stop.

- Character trying to get rest but doesn't get any cliché.

- everything from Donald's room is gone, probably because he stole it all from Scrooge. His Three Caballero guitar is broken.

- the moon invasion twist was the most obvious twist I've seen in… ever.

S2E12 (Nothing can stop Della)

- Character returns, tries to fit in and annoys other characters Cliché. She's totally gonna return to the moon and reign it later, right? It's so obvious.

- Della bakes the same birthday cake as on the moon. She also wears the same apron. She might be insane, guys.

- Donald's Nirvana poster is still in that room.

- according to the again visible business board, Louie at one point planned to invent an umbrella which rains. I like that.

- on the Mom's Return Celebration Horn, you see a living horn from Alice in Wonderland.

- the giant robot reminds me of an old Ducktales episode, where a giant robot gets out of control in an ancient China setting.

S2E13 (Raiders of the Doomsday Vault)

Is it just me, or would this episode be a great Resident Evil plot? Second half looks like straight out of RE5.

- Raiders of the Lost Arc reference.

- Ludwig von Drake is confirmed dead.

- Della and Dewey sing the Powerline song from Goof Troop.

- Von Drakes parking lot treatens visitors with murder.

- Dewey being a natural at adventuring is referenced again from episode S2E1.

S2E14 (Friendship hates Magic)

- More like, Disney hates Hasbro amirite

- Webby speaks ancient Syriac, Akkadian (whatever those are) and old Norse.

- Beakley mentioning the Unicorn incident from Season 1.

- Weird character trying to be normal among friends Cliché. Sigh… please don't do this Ducktales, not already in Season 2.

- the magpie kid seems suspicious, potential new Magica henchgirl. Also, the pictures in her book (a bald character seperating her body from her spirit) remind me of Dr. Strange.

- Webby has a greetings card from the Hindu demon Rakshassah. Okay then.

- Beakley reads a book "The Scarlet Pimperbill". Pimperbell is a character looking much like Darkwing and is also a vigilante. The Scarlet Pimpernel in real life is a character which Zorro and Batman are said to be based on, who looks similar as Pimperbill (but human, of course).

- Darkwing Duck again appears as a TV show, including Mr. Banana Brain.

- This episode feels way too much like The Conjuring with its transitions to the spirit realm.

- Launchpad wrote a self-insert fanfic about Darkwing Duck, which is bind bending.

S2E15 (The Dangerous Chemistry of Gandra Dee)

- Gizmoduck is a superhero now and fights a supervillain, confirming supervillains in this universe.

- Gandra uses emojis in her phone name. Ugh.

- Gandra has duck tits. Woo hoo.

- Webby and Huey hang out at Fendon's place, which is kinda weird. Also, they give him advice on dates, while I'm sure Webby doesn't even know if she's straight.

- there is a logo in Fendons room which I have seen before, but can't remember what it's referencing. It's a dark blue b with a red dot inside.

- Mark Beaks uses the hashtag Nofilter, which within a cartoon is kinda funny. Also, Beaks gets wasted.

- he also uses an iPhone… Waddlephone? Similar UI.

- he dabs… sorry guys, it was funny when a kid did it. Not this.

- Fendon, working for McDuck Enterprises, son of a cop, has a security system that kills people.

- Fendon invented a device creating more and more kinetic energy on it's own forever with no waste and noone is as impressed as they should be.

- Beaks, in a rather out of character scene, literally becomes the Hulk.

I'm writing a book here, wtf.

S2E16 Oh boy, here we go. (The Duck Knight Returns)

- Title based on The Dark Knight Returns, a Batman comic

- There is a Darkwing Duck comic with the same name, with a cover parody of The Dark Knight Returns.

- the villain at the beginning looks like the Phantom from Mickey Mouse.

- the episode ends how it starts, with Darkwing's villain being Darkwing.

- Jim Starling, the actor who plays Darkwing in the show, is hopefully a reference to Marvel artist Jim Starlin, not Jim Sterling, who's a fat Youtube guy who's angry about the same shit over and over.

- It's mentioned twice in Ducktales that Darkwing Duck was cancelled before the finale. I checked and yes, in real life the show didn't have a real finale.

- Since Darkwing Duck is a trashy slapstick superhero show in the Ducktales-universe, Jim Starling is probably a reference to Adam West.

- When Dewey tweets, he uses the hashtags "Celebrity?" and "IWasntAliveInThe90s". Great detail.

- Trending on Twitter in that scene: "Horrible Opinions." Heh.

- in the scene where Launchpad drives through Duckberg, you see that the city looks like in the old cartoon, but with a castle on a hill instead of the Money Bin (Mc Duck Castle?).

- The Mc Duck Studios logo looks like the Disney Studios logo.

- the director of Darkwing First Darkness looks like Christopher Nolan (he's got the scarf). They should have made fun of Snyder though.

- the Darkwing First Darkness poster looks like Nolan's Batman movies, complete with the right font.

- there is a Mickey Mouse shaped prize in the director's room.

- I don't have any clue why there are office accident related comedy posters in the background featuring Donald.

- "A big budget reboot of a thing that I loved as a kid, those are always great". Oh Launchpad.

- Oh man the Darkwing Duck DC parody trailer, that's one of the best scenes in the series. Complete with ending with a nostalgic line complete with a nod to the audience. You gotta watch it.

- Jab at movie studios. The young audience didn't understand the movie and what it's trying to say. The actor doesn't understand his role, just wants a job. The long time fan hates it because everything from the original is missing. And the guy paying it only wants whatever insanity one representative of the target audience suggests.

- Jim suggest to be put in the movie via CGI as another jab to movie makers, which is ironic, because isn't that what Disney usually does?

- the younger Darkwing actor owns a PS1 with SNES controllers.

- he has a large poster in the background, showing Tuskernini's penguins shooting lasers at Darkwing. I've seen that friggin picture somewhere, but Google doesn't help me.

- he's got t-shirts with "Keep Calm & Get Dangerous" print. Nice.

- he's got a poster showing the toy packaging artwork for the Darkwing Quack Copter… wow, what an obscure reference.

- also, a poster from The Disney Afternoon #2 cover.

- Darkwing Duck shampoo didn't exist, but that lunch box did.

- Darkwing Duck Adventures is a reference to the Disney Adventures comics, which were based on the Disney shows.

- the character next to the Thunderquack isn't based on anything.

- the actor was bullied by a guy who looks like the one who bullies Gosalyn in Darkwing Duck.

- plot twist: the younger actor turns out to be Drake Mallard, who is Darkwing Duck's real identity. So the show within the show becomes reality within the show. Mind blown.

- the episode has DW-style slapstick but it kinda doesn't work, except during the final battle.

- Megavolt actor on set looks nothing like the real Megavolt, but he looks a lot like Bane from Dark Knight Rises.

- first person view of Darkwing jumping at the camera looks like whenever Batman jumps on a goon.

- episode actually adds an explanation to Drake's backstory why Darkwing keeps getting up after being hit by explosives and

having a piano dropped on him.

- Launchpad begins a Nolan-like Batman end-narration.

- throughout the episode, there's a poster in the background that says "In case of emergency, save the money" and showing the studio going up in flames, like in the episode.

- in the sewers, Jim's clothes change color and he turns into Negaduck, as a reference to the Joker.

So we had: A backstory for Darkwing, Darkwing in-character with slapstick, a Darkwing-Launchpad-teamup twice in this episode (one serious, one comedic), Negaduck, also Gizmoduck is a superhero now and it's confirmed that supervillains exist in Duckberg.

SO WHAT ARE THEY WAITING FOR?!

Done.

This basically, but point any of this anywhere else but here and you'll get called a hater. The original Ducktales didn't try to be too deep on lore, but the characters were genuinely far more endearing even with 80s/90s limits and made you care for them. Hell, people keep talking about how emotional and full of development this show is, but this supposed development is just cheap fan pandering or some brief moment of doing something out of character.

Now in contrast to the original Ducktales, there was an actual sense of real character growth as the series went on. About 5 years ago, an episode involved Scrooge being manipulated (via an illusion) into think that his nephews had become corrupted and used legal mumbo to steal away his wealth. The previous episodes showed Scrooge being incredibly cheap with the nephews but slowly becoming more generous but at times still distrusting of them, and most of the time showing value for his money above all else, but in said episode after having everything he owns taken by his (fake) nephews who insult him and tell him that they never cared for him and were simply out to get his money as they kick him out of his own home, the first thing that goes through his mind as he's locked out in the rain is to fucking cry as he watches his nephews walk away and the thought of money never crosses his mind, crying mainly because he believed he failed them, claiming it was his fault for not loving them enough and failing them as a parent, which took place as the boys were tortured and kicked out by a (fake) evil Scrooge, as they two were also heartbroken. The whole damn thing is then followed up with the broken hearted family reuniting and hugging in the rain as the freaking rain and tears flow together, happily telling each other that they mean the world to each other. One of the biggest moments of character growth for them in the series that would define Scrooge's continued growth in selflessness towards his family.

Which brings up my main point: Initially the show starts off with Scrooge being a greedy old… scrooge, and while his lust for money remains an ever present trait, you see it slowly decline into a simple desire, as in the second half of the series he no longer wanted to make money just for the sake of it, he wanted that money to become the foundation for the future of not just himself, but of his nephews (and that cave kid he adopted). And that damn episode illusion episode had zero childhood nostalgic meaning to me, yet it somehow still moved the old ticker, unlike any moment in this show. Only redeeming trait about it is some moments of animation.

Way too many points of you list are not references, but comments. Other than that:

>>1061635

>- "The Life and Times of Della Duck" is again a comic reference.

To be more precise, The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck is a series of comics by Don Rosa about how Scrooge got rich.

>>1061636

>- Did Gladstone make an appearance in the old show? I know for sure he's a character from the comics.

Yes he did.

>>1061646

>- Castle McDuck also appears in the old show and is also haunted.

The Castle also appears in several comics.

>>1061666

The rest of the list are invention from classic Ducktales that turned evil.

>>1061672

>- Fehtry is a Toppolino character (exclusively?).

No, Fehtry is an Egmont character. His first comics were from America, but done for the European market. In the American comics his Sweatshirt was pink, in the Italian and Danish comics it's red and in the Brazilian comics it's yellow btw..

>S2E3 (Ballad of Duck Baloney)

- In this origin story he's from South Africa, just like in the comics. In classic Ducktales ha was Scottish, like Scrooge.

>S2E6 (Last Christmas)

- At the Christmas party in the past some guy shows Scrooge a square rock from the Andes and wants him to finance an expedition. This is a reference to "Lost in the Andes" by Carl Barks.

>- the 3 ghosts of Christmas aren't the ones from Mickey's Christmas Carol, sadly. The drunk looking giant ghost is a pig here with similar clothes, the Goofy ghost looks like Death, and Jiminy Cricket was replaced, but looks similar.

Goofy was not part of the 3 ghosts. Goofy was the ghost of Jacob Marley who was the only friend of Scrooge and had recently passed on. The Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come was done by Pete. I remembered this one wrong too.

>S2E9 (Outlaw Scrooge)

- The time traveling bathtub is a reference to the classic Ducktales episode "Sir Gyro de Gearloose".

It's not attention to detail. It's an attempt to appease the old fans without too much effort.

Instead of making a show that the fans of the comics or the old show would actually like, they are just cramming as much references as possible into the show.

It's a very common tactic in video games. When the publisher says "We want to reach a bigger audience." and "We haven't forgotten about the old fans.", you can pretty much expect a dumped down game, the fans won't like, but that has also a few references only the old fans will get.

>DuckTales fans quacked their hands and went wild when, during the Disney Channel show’s annual panel at San Diego Comic-Con, the revival’s creators welcomed surprise panel guest Lin-Manuel Miranda, who has provided the voice of brainy superhero Gizmoduck on the series since season 1 (but finally made his long-awaited SDCC debut with the cast). In addition, the panel kept the surprises coming by revealing a jam-packed new ensemble poster teasing the season 2 and 3 arrivals of Daisy Duck, Goofy, and several beloved faces from the famed ‘90s “Disney Afternoon” line-up

>As the poster reveals, the current second and upcoming third seasons of DuckTales will add to its ever-expanding ensemble with appearances from Gadget, Chip, Dale, and Monterey Jack from Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers, a grown-up Kit and Molly from TaleSpin, Gosalyn Mallard from Darkwing Duck, and more. All three shows, famous for their prime spots on Disney’s ‘90s animated afternoon programming block, have slowly but surely made their presences known on the modern DuckTales; recent introductions of characters like Drake Mallard and Don Karnage have only primed audiences for more familiar faces from the Disney Afternooniverse.

>And yet, don’t overlook the huge significance in Daisy Duck finally joining her paramour Donald on the show, as the well-eyeshadowed character did not appear in the original late-‘80s run of DuckTales. Meanwhile, Goofy’s arrival quacks two boxes here—his tenure in the Mickey & Friends family is legendary on its own, but in the particular case of the modern DuckTales, Goofy’s dad-bod inclusion opens the door for the potential future of another cherished Afternoon title, Goof Troop (starring teen karaoke heartthrob Max Goof). That possibility has already been alluded to in a recent episode where Dewey and Della duet on a song from A Goofy Movie.

>Of course, the new faces are but supporting players to the continued machinations of Huey, Dewey, Louie, Webby, Donald, Della, Launchpad, and Scrooge as they anchor Matt Youngberg and Frank Angones’ marvelous revival. Now in its third season, the show has long since graduated from its reboot roots to become its own joyously original adventure—and the clever reinventions of characters from the worlds of Disney Afternoon and Mickey & Friends are only continuing to add new riches to a series already overflowing with them.

Where is even the chemistry between those two? I actually hate those terribly designed moon people. And since the existence of Della along Webby (same personality) and Launchpad (is another pilot) is redundant, it's very predictable that she will return to the moon and reign it as a queen. I never thought about it that way… but then I expect a ton of Darkwing episodes.

The difference between Disney and Seth is, Disney uses those poses for concept art. Seth puts it right in the show.

Let's wait a bit more and Family Guy is just post-its being moved over a background, like in that one Gumball episode.

Any thoughts on the back half of season 2, aired two months ago?

The show has too many damn characters combined with how the show overly focuses on Webby and/or one of the triplets. Donald hardly does anything in proportion to how important he supposedly is. Webby has another little friend character even after putting in Lena (who's an interesting enough idea of a character but is limited to Webby). And we're going to get even more Disney Afternoon characters next season.

I kinda lost attention half way through because it was so predictable. I will watch those episodes again later. I find those moon people as villains SO BORING. At least FOWL appears, so I expect some Steelbeak in the next season.

I'm annoyed by that too, at first I thought that new friend is gonna be a villain, getting herself possessed by Magica instead of Lena. I don't understand why she's there, Lena isn't even done with her arc.

I'm not that mad though, I care more about the episodes itself than the characters. Especially since my favorite characters are some of the villains and Zan Owlson.

I would watch the living shit out of the entire series in return for one episode guest-starring Darkwing Duck.

Hu? But there already are episodes guest-starring Darkwing Duck.
