It ignores everything Disney. It handles the Imperial remnants a lot better than Disney too, by making them more similar to their expanded universe counterparts. The First Order bs hasn't shown up yet, nor has the resistance. The new trilogy was doomed to fail from the start. There was no real plan for a trilogy, as JJ mimicked ANH for the first movie and he didn't give a shit when it came to TLJ. TROS makes even less sense, and is Disney's effort to try and put a wrap on the shitpile they built.
I'm hoping Mandalorian continues to ignore the Disney EU, and do its own thing in its own way. The 30 minute time limit works well, because it means there is very little room for bs filler. This helps keep the spotlight on Mando and away from the people he meets.

Not quite. The 7th episode has Rogue One Death Troopers. Though they also showed up in Filoni's Rebels show so maybe it's more in reference to that. Still they promised from the beginning the show would answer how the First Order was created. Which may change now that there's been so much negativity from this garbage trilogy.

s that consistent with Lucas' canon version. The 2003 Star Wars team only get a rough concept of what Grievous was. They got the concept from Lucas but they turned Grievous into what most fans like about him (being a cyborg general being able to challenge and kill Force-sensitive combatants).
The Wussification of Grievous rests squarely on Lucas' shoulder.

So I thought about this topic again. Maybe it's fine that they make generic, ugly, brown aliens.
To me, Episode 1-3 lost much of the Star Wars identity. Sure, it was nice to see different planets in e.g. the Order 66 scene, but the Diner scene sucked. The design was all over the place. You could argue it gave SW a new identity, but I didn't like it.
I rather have the grey/ brown/ orange "dirty" look of the original trilogy, then Disney turning SW into Guardians of the Galaxy or Thor. I think that's the indention, not to fall too much into the design of those movies, completely taking away the identity.
I mean in SW9, when all the ships appeared and it was like Endgame, it was so jarring to me.
