How can we say marriage is a christian institution when same sex marriage/unions have existed before?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_same-sex_unions

>Same-sex unions were known in Ancient Greece and Rome,[2] ancient Mesopotamia,[4] in some regions of China, such as Fujian province, and at certain times in ancient European history.[5]

>Same-sex marital practices and rituals were more recognized in Mesopotamia than in ancient Egypt. The Almanac of Incantations contained prayers favoring on an equal basis the love of a man for a woman and of a man for man.[6]

Most of the world was pagan by the time Jesus came along. Does that make paganism true over Christianity?

Marriage is a natural union first, Christian union second. A man using the rear-end of another man's digestive tract to temporarily satisfy his burning unchecked lust defies the natural.

No sex that isn't open to the potential for the creation of human life is natural or wholesome. The covenant of marriage and the activity of sex is exclusive, as God intended, as Jesus and the church reaffirmed (Gen 2:24, Mat 19:5, Eph 5:31) to a monogamous, lifelong devoted couple, a husband (M) and wife (F). Get the hell over it.

>God drowns the Sodmites with a flood.

>God destroys Sodom with fire and Brimstone.

>Since pagans had same sex unions, it must be okay for Christians!

many sins have existed before the new covenant, but that doesn't mean it invalidates our current ruleset. gay marriage is against the laws our Lord handed down, so it follows that we don't endorse it.

That link shows 1 guy, the Emperor Nero in something that wasn't even a legally recognized marriage. I think it proves the opposite of the point you're trying to make

There is some evidence suggesting homosexual practices among Greeks and Romans. However, the extent was questionable and it may be that we are interpreting close male friendships as sexually charged because our society is very sexual and sexually charged.

Ancients - and even other cultures outside the west are not shy about calling other men beautiful, enjoying being around beautiful men, being very close to other men, kissing other men, or even being jealous when your good friend finds another friend. I've travelled a bit and it's not uncommon in other cultures for men to describe other men as beautiful and develop these close relationships without any implications of homosexuality

Homosexuality in ancient Greece was first proposed by gay men like Oscar Wilde who were most likely seeking to justify their own desires. It is a fact that some greek vases were often interpreted or even changed by people in modern society to make them appear to depict scenes of homosexuality. There are also a fair number of Greek writings describing homosexuality as shameful - so that should be taken into account as well

Also marriage as proposed by Christians - one man, one woman for lifie wasn't the norm in the ancient world. There rich men were polygamous in many societies and in others they would often take one wife, be done with her and cast her and her children out and take another younger wife.

Early Christian leaders opposed and fought that - so that's why marriage as we know it, one man, one woman for life is a Christian invention and Christian institution. Although Jesus does say that was the way it was in the beginning so it was likely that way in the very ancient prehistoric days

I read a play by Aristophanes, he made jokes agaisnt gays and effeminates all the time. So it's was a healthy society were gay stuff was mocked.

Greece and rome being unabashed gay is gaypaganda.

You've got mainstreamers who say it's all allegorical. The result is everyone acts like all that never happened, soon they start justifying sodomy as if all of it never happened, etc.

This is all because of people who reduce Scripture to allegory, and They are to blame for the sodomy that's going on now.
