Is it okay for Christians to like modern art?

More like one has to not be okay to like it. The problem is not liking it, but your spirit that inclines you to it. The problem is prior.

You could have just said 'no' instead of getting on your high horse. The entire life on this earth is one of seeing through a glass dimly and engaging with the profane. There won't be meat in heaven, it's a result of a world where death has entered. Now are you going to say meat is sin?

I don't understand your animosity. I tried to say that if one enjoys the disfigured forms of your original image, his tastes are disfigured.

I don't even like Dali. I think he has problems beyond disfiguring of natural forms. I just wanted a piece of modern art with a religious theme. I'm more of a fan of modernist music and then who is to say what counts as "disfigured"?

Also, no animosity. I was merely pointing out that you hardly accomplished anything more than saying "no" (contrasting it to the equally terse answer preceding). There are many things we're predisposed towards as a result of a fallen nature which are explicitly not sinful.

Generally what gets posted as "modern art" is actually post modern s—postism or brutalism. There's great beauty in plenty of modern art

That's pretty squarely romantic. It was completed in 1905. Debussy has much stranger stuff. He's definitely one of the father's of modernism in music.

My intention was saying no. I don't believe there could be an answer any "deeper" than it.

You won't get far with apologetics or convincing anyone of anything that way.

It's kind of funny that you use Dali as your example. He was a Catholic (apparently). And even did some nice work for the Jerusalem bible (alongside Tolkien, another giant of modern imagination).
